Enjoyed watching this. My wife's grandparents worked at the hotel in 1926 and were there for the hurricane. They had told us stories about having to make a human chain through the water to get the hotel workers to safety. I met my wife at the same place when it was a Bible College and we lived there in the 1970's.

Just found this presentation from a Facebook link and enjoyed watching this. My mother worked in the hotel during the war and met my father there. My Uncle was the general manager and his photo is on one of the slides from this presentation. Brings back a lot of memories. My mom had a lot of old photos from these days and I really need to go back through them to see them again.

My family moved to the hotel when Florida Bible College bought it. I think that was January 1970. My twin brother and I were still in high school and had fun exploring the place until it was ready for the students to move in. He and I went surfing after school (South Broward) every day the waves were good. Our parents, the Zemans, ran the food services for the college. We were freshmen at FBC in 1972; if I remember correctly, just our freshmen class had either 1000 or 1200 students in it.
Good memories and I enjoyed this documentary. Thanks for sharing it.

We went into the hotel yesterday to have a look for ourselves. While the condition it's in is sad, it's still a gran old lady and we enjoyed our visit immensely.

Aww I really enjoyed this...thank you for covering the history of this lovely building...I hope it gets restored! I remember going with my parents to the hotel in the 80's to a timeshare presentation and leaving with a walkman...I remember when the pool was put in and it used to be pretty bustling. In the 90's, I used to go to the movie theater and a friend owned a restaurant inside the area that was a mall.

I was a student at Florida Bible College during Fall semester 1976. I still have the school catalog loaded with pictures of that luxurious old hotel. I remember the chandeliers, the mirrored columns and flocked wallpaper. My room was on the back overlooking the beach and just above the dining room. It had a bottle opener mounted on the wall in the bathroom. Lastly I remember there was a small green space with different colored lamps on the back side. So beautiful. There were two or three elevators on the right hand side of the lobby. Between them were mail chutes so anyone on the higher floors could just drop mail down the slot located on each floor without having to go to the lobby to send mail. I'm glad to see the building is still there though greatly altered inside and out.

I expect that it is haunted. It does not surprise me that the hurricane hit the area after all the forests and mangroves were destroyed. I guess people either did not know or care back then.

The Hollywood Beach Resort was condemned on 5/6/23. All the business and I believe most residents are now evacuated. Joseph Chetrit with Hollywood Horizons LLC owns all but 15 units according to tax records along with attached Oren Lieber law firm Is there anyway a 3-D walkthrough video could be made to preserve it before it is torn down? Adding CGI graphics to envision it in its heyday ? A company called Brandstar in Pompano was looking into doing this 3-D video but needs funding. There were amazing pictures in the hallways that I heard were being stolen recently but that perhaps the Historical Society has gained access to these pictures for historical records.?
It is my understanding that the developer wants to build two 27 story towers in its location with private beach access. I don't understand how this historical building has been allowed to fall apart to the point of being condemned a few days ago. The Breakers was a historical building that was preserved but not Hollywood Beach Resort for some reason. I cannot find any permits for demolition or construction online. Any information or update would be most appreciated.

I heard today that they put out signs saying it’s unsafe and they evicted the vendors. Are they going to demolish it? I wish someone could do something to repair it and keep it as a historical site. Maybe a museum/resort? It will probably be torn down and a Hard Rock Resort or some condo will be put there. So sad.

That's where I spent the first 3 1/2 years of my life in the USA there. At the Florida Bible College. I use what i learned there all the time in South America and on my RUclips Channel. It was fun to be there. I didn't know all of these things when I stayed there.
So, let me tell you what we shared with everyone there.
The Bible tells us that in order to go to heaven, a person has to be perfect. Well, no one is. So, that's a big problem. Well, there is one Solution. That is Jesus Christ. He took your sin, your shame, your guilt and your punishment. He died on the cross for your sins. And then He rose again.
Now, He said that if anyone trusts Him as Savior, that person will have eternal life or harmony with God!
That's what we shared with everyone that we could on the beach there. It is the most important Message one can hear! That Message was at the heart of the Florida Bible College.
If you want to collect something from that time.... Try to find a "Am I Going to Heaven" tract. That's the pamphlet we used.
