This May will be my 16th, my father’s 51st, and my grandfather’s 71st attendance as spectators/staff at the Indianapolis 500. There’s nothing quite like watching the Greatest Spectacle in Racing from high up the Southeast Vista and we cannot wait to see it again!
Take it all in my friend. Get there early, and watch the place come to life. You'll be hooked in about 5 minutes, and it'll soon consume your life as you countdown until next year!
Last year was my 1st - drove all the way from Maryland and got to see Helio win his 4th. Without a doubt, one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life and I'm 66. Can't wait for race day. "Drivers start your engines" - OMG, what a ride!
This will be my 46th STRAIGHT Indianapolis 500 and just watching this is bringing tears to my eyes! I can't wait to meet 400,000 of my closest and dearest friends again on May 29th!
You're going to love it. It's unlike any other sporting event I've ever seen, and the sorts of people who make the drive down there are the friendliest people you'll ever hope to meet.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that tears up during the song. Seeing everyone enjoy that song and sing along to it warms my heart. There’s nowhere I’d rather be on Memorial Day weekend. When I say that race day touches my heart, I truly mean it. I LOVE this video. Great job, as usual, IMS!! Thank you for this video, the track, the race, and all of the pageantry that goes along with it. I’ve never been so passionate about anything in my life!
Never been in Indanapolis, Never been in the USA actually, but for all race fans around the world the IMS is home at the last sunday of May. Someday, before I die, I will visit this old home of mine.
One day I hope to attend the 500. I grew up listening to the race because of the TV blackout during the race. I live out of state now and just had major back surgery. One day I hope to be Back Home Again in Indiana.
I have been to the 500 twice. I drove 1000 miles to get there and stayed for four days to catch all the festivities. I have always told my friends it's something everyone should do in their lifetime. The place is special, and Indianapolis is a great city!! Can't wait for this years 500!!
Tears of joy in remembrance of race days past and longing for another iconic May this year. To all who edited this footage and soundtrack, we salute you for wetting our appetite for an approaching and amazing May in Indy!
I've Attended every race beginning with 1985 with the 2020 Covid Race Lockout being the only exception...So 2022 will be my 37th race..The Greatest Event in Sports and my Christmas Day every year..I Can't Wait !!!♥️
Here we are again on the doorstep of another Memorial day weekend and what promises to be another great race this Sunday. I live about 20 minutes or so away from this track, and trust me when I tell you that the excitement always builds as the race approaches around here. The Brickyard nascar race was/is neat, but there is nothing like the Indianapolis 500. Two very different cars, I know, but it's the legacy and history that the 500 brings with it. Long live the Indianapolis 500, aka The Greatest Spectacle in Racing!
Can't wait this year will be my 21st so glad I got to witness in person my favorite driver in Indycar growing up get win #4 last year was the best part of my year after losing my grandma 6 months before the race those blue envelopes will be here soon
I teared up watching this. I grew up in Indianapolis, and though I don't live there now, it will always be home. From someone who has lived there, this race really is something special.
I missed the covid year and it hurt so much watching it on TV. I have never in life watched on TV Always went to the race then watched th TV broadcast after for what I missed
The Indianapolis 500 is not on my bucket list; it’s on my automatic list and has been since 1982 and will remain there until the day I’m dust in the wind.🏁
It's something I picked up from my dad, who went for the first time when he was stationed at Fort Harrison in 1975. It often seems to work that way...he was enamored enough that he always carried the keys to his safe on his Speedway keychain and watched on TV whenever he didn't get to go. We just like the speed and spectacle of the whole thing and won't have anything bad said about it...it's an all-American experience, especially when you get to see it in person.
The closest I ever got to going to the Indy 500 was the California 500 at Ontario Motor Speedway. Ontario is gone but Indy lives on and we are all so lucky we can experience the tradition and history of this great race.
Goose bumps!!..... I have been attending since 1999 and because of covid and a brain injury i have missed being back home again in Indiana for the "500" these past two years. I'm hoping to be recovered enough to return hopefully this year to see my driver Heilo Castroneves defend his 4th win! 🏁
In the Year 1996 my Dad,Brother and I took a Family Friend from Libby,Montana under the 16th street Tunnel and inside the track next to the museum upon seeing this View our friend exclaimed "Wait until my People back in Montana hear about this" Note: He also liked the Hall of Fame Museum

I know not many people agree, but I just don’t think that man is the right voice for Back Home Again. It needs to be more casual, more fun, not like we’re at an opera. He’s just too dramatic of a singer for that song.
I think not. That song was written in 1917. Overly-modulated performances of songs on phonograph records back then were so dramatic that you heard really operatic performances of things like "Yes, We Have No Bananas." Nods in the direction of history ought to be accepted for what they are.
How sad, the Socialist Democrats have separated us for the last two years, Indianapolis once a booming, growing and colorful city has been run into the ground by a Socialist Democrat, it's about time to get a free thinking Republican into office and correct the problems of a once mighty city!!
