But Jeff Lynne’s current touring band is bland and lack the rawness, charisma and energy that this band had live. Or the vocal perfection and presentation that the version with Kelly and Melvyn had.
@@Mewhen12369 ive been told John really liked the music ELO was putting out!! It was probably great writing and the use of the strings, who cant love that!
I read that Lennon loved ELO and if the Beatles had stayed together would have liked to make music using an orchestra. His favourite song by them was Showdown too.!
Jeef Lynne didn't approve of the release of this live album AT ALL, mostly because he didn't like touring. The LP's were pressed very badly, from what I understand, which explains why the sound was muddy at the time.. but this sounds LOUD and remastered. In my "Beatles covers and 'uncovers' " playlist. Thanks for uploading!
MoveJeff-----You have really done a fabulous job on remastering these old videos to let us hear them like we want to on our modern equipment and they are enjoyed to the fullest and all your hard work on these is greatly appreciated by ole' time ELO Fans that were there at the beginning of it all in the early 70's. Thanks so much~!
I can't really add anything to the compliments below - just another brilliant job by you... on another brilliant job by ELO (Not sure what the Bev Bevan rant in a previous comment was all about - he is a monster drummer).
Tweeking the remastered Long Beach CD wasn't really needed but so be it. The real trick is to find a copy of the CD. I got one by accident. I wish someone had a recording of the entire show! The Long Beach LP /CD only has about 7 tracks (I think)
Yeah! Seven tracks: Daybreaker, Showdown, Day Tripper, 10538 Overture, Mik's Solo/Orange Blossom special, In the Hall of the Mountain King/Great Balls of Fire, Roll Over Beethoven.
Good job, I know this was probably a B#ITCH to try to sync. I noticed you had to drop-frames now & again to try to make this work. Tandy on keys, is very easy to synce, for he plays very structured & keeps to the same cadence, but Bevans, that's a WHOLE other story! GREAT DUMMER, but he couldn't play the same stroke, hit or crash alike for the 2nd time, if his life depended on it! Watch ELO's "studio" videos, one would think he would remember what he hit & didn't hit on his own recordings!
I bought a copy of the LP back in the day (yeah i'm old) but the sound was muddy and needed help. Angles shown a light from heaven however and reissued a remaster on CD. I have yet to find another copy since I bought it. Too bad there was not more of the concert itself on the reissue. I assume the masters are lost to history
@@dano247365 I know it's now 3 years late (and nearly a decade since your original comment), but I have to say that I can relate to that. I've done the same, probably more than once. What's worse: I have researched some topic on Google, and found a good answer except it mostly stated what I had already known for some years - then notice that it was a post by myself, when I first researched the same topic years before and posted about it. Weirdness of the Internet... :-)
How'd they manage all those instruments between the legs with those tight 70's pants, we will never know, but glad to see they made this for a testament! Too funny really, but nice!
Yes, these are classical works quotations. First is Mozart paino sonata #15 intro, second is Handel's number called The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from the Solomon oratorio. Yet you had to notice some short part from Satisfacton, didn't you? ))
Ha😂 That made me laugh out loud. We had a satirical sketch show on tv in Denmark some years ago. Therewas a template repeated in each show, with a variation. Each time they would impersonate a known Danish artist in the recording studiio, recording one of his or her well known and popular songs, but replacing some keyword in the song with "penis". The producer would then say it sounded weird, and they would do another take with the original word, only to then agree that it sounded better with penis, so the punchline was "vi kører den ind med 'penis'" (roughly "we roll it in with 'penis'".) ruclips.net/video/AOpzc2efPJE/видео.htmlsi=t6sxe33ny1sLJ5JS
A rare moment when you actually see Jeff's eyes. They're usually hiding behind big thick aviators or something.
I love the energy in this cover
Jeff and Mike practically yelling the lyrics! Love it!
Wow, this is just what can I say, just as good as the Beatles, and to see Jeffs eyes, what a joy, hey love the sound boys ❤️❤️❤️🎸🕶️
This is better than the Beatles, no one can compare to ELO
When Jeff lets loose and belts out the words, he can go.
Much more fun and insane than the tightly controlled shows he puts on now.
They belted this one out. Loved it!!!!!!
My first concert ever was the Long Beach show in '74 when they opened for Deep Purple.
Elo is the best nerdiest band ever. That's how you do a cover.
cant learnham how are they nerdy
Awesome observation!
Not Hugh Mcdowell! He was educated, brilliant, easy to talk to,foxy, clever wonderful man. Sorry he is gone. You are missed Hughie
Saw them in Montreal 1974, no light show. Warmed up for Edgar Winter. Great show. Two years latter Place de Nation, "Eldorado," wow.
The BEST RIFF EVER!
I only Hope that I am ever Lucky enough to see ELO In Concert; Fantastic!
But Jeff Lynne’s current touring band is bland and lack the rawness, charisma and energy that this band had live. Or the vocal perfection and presentation that the version with Kelly and Melvyn had.
I like this ! Wonder if Lennon or McCartney has heard this live performance. Fun to make great rock music.
Very likely they did

Whata trip
Great cover to a ten year old song. To see Jeff w/o glasses is like WHAT
Stare dobre Electric Light Orchestra jeszcze na początku kariery estradowej ,ich koncerty to super muzyka rockowa z domieszką muzyki symfonicznej .
Love this! So great to see so much of the cellos.
UN F---ing Believable!!!

I like the riff from Satisfaction and the classical piece in there.

ELO's back from the Future!
El mejor cover definitivamente, todos me encantan pero Richard wow!
You would'nt believe me if I told you how I just found this, I baffled ttyl Peace
great video, been an ELO fan for years and I can honestly say I have never heard this. thanks for sharing.
Best cover by cheap trick
Imagine the Beatles playing Day Tripper at Live Aid or something if they didn't disband. I imagine it would have sounded like this.
Cool version of Beatles tune! Jeff is a great musician!
amazing job
Fantastic!!!

straight into my favorites- always loved the song but their adaptation & the work you've done must be applauded-thanx
No, they are definitely quotes from a couple of classical pieces, but i can't place them at the moment..
The first one is Mozart, the second is Handel-the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba
Awesome well done !!!
A lot of work! Thanks!
Amazing!
This is amazing. The work you put into this is tremendous. Thank you! 💫🎉😻RightyO!
Groovyly done. Thanx.

Excellent edit.
2:31 And I was all like... "WTF, man"
I love Richard!
Sounds excellent! You've prompted me to upload the whole album. :)
Good job with the remastering and editing!
I saw them play "Elinor Rigby" live @ Cow Palace, S.F. 1976?
Wow! You put a lot off effort into this! Thanks -- sounds great!
Excellent edit - well done! I was just going to downlaod this album on iTunes and was doing some research. Definitely going to get it now. Cheers!
Mr.Lynne loves his job.
Jeff and Bev sure can jam

Não tinha o Kelly groucutt ainda nessa época???
No. Mike De Albuquerque on bass.

At the same time, the tight pants might explain how they could sing falsetto so perfectly... 😂😂😂

Mike d' Albuqerque
