I ordered a Pampet trumpet to begin instructing my young grandson (I am a retired career trumpet player and he shows interest) - the one I received seems to have leakage in the valve system causing a 'kazoo' like sound and no tonal center. Kinda the feeling/ sound you get when a valve is turned around in the casing. There were two additional valves packaged with the trumpet which I tried without any change in the instrument's performance. Anyway, after hearing what the instrument should sound like, I have a problem that maybe you could shed some light on?! Is this something you have come across with these instruments? Hit and miss as to whether some function and some don't? Any help is appreciated! Thanks Rick h
After watching a few videos, it seems that the mouthpiece that comes with it plays a huge role in how the instrument plays. Maybe try getting a metal mouthpiece and see if that makes a difference, but if not, then this kind of falls into the you get what you pay for category. I ordered one today because I’ve played from 6th to 11th grade in school and I feel like that’d be a cool skill to forget so I just decided to get a cheap one I could throw around and what not. I’ll let you know how it sounds once it arrives and I’ll test out a few mouthpieces and see if that makes any difference.
