  • @sky-trevishere9638
    @sky-trevishere9638 7 месяцев назад +6256

    Actually they do feel pain BUT that’s not really the main reason to no boil lobsters alive! In fact lobsters and most crustaceans produce a stress hormone whenever they feel pain, this hormone is very concentrated and affects the meat of the lobster. So when it’s cooked, the meat is tougher and chewier because those stress hormones were released when it was boiled alive. To have tender and soft meat, cut the brain and major nerves inorder to not give the nervous system a chance to command the production of that hormone. By the way if you are curious about the hormone it’s called “crustacean hyperglycemic hormone”! Just a biology fun fact

    • @sky-trevishere9638
      @sky-trevishere9638 7 месяцев назад +174

      @@kyleprenot2076 English isn’t exactly my first language, but what I mean to say is the quality of the lobster meat degrades because of the stress hormones it gains when its experiencing pain, hence why people always say to stab the brain and cut down to cut off the brain from sending any stress signals.

    I have seen a few of this guy's shorts, having grown up in New England in the USA ad been around lobsters for most of my life, and having cooked quite a few myself. If you are going to unalive the creature before cooking it *DON'T* do what this guy does. Those are not nerves and are not proper cuts to sever the nervous system, the lobster is still alive and while they have fewer neurons and feel a less complex version of the pain we feel, they can still feel pain. What this is, is sloppy, crude, and one of the more inhumane ways I have seen a lobster cooked.
