The 50s were a period of post-war happiness and prosperity that saw great interest and innovation in technology and styling, and an avid interest in space. The muscle era was symbolic of a more carefree lifestyle embraced by many at the time. This was due in part to the Vietnam war, but also Boomers wanting to be free and rebellious. An attempt was made to bring back retro styling in the 2000s, but that eventually because outdated and no longer the trend.

I dated a Cuban woman (Mirna V.~aka Mi Amore) in Miami,FL.
I went with her to visit Cuba years ago on a vacation (she wanted to go home to visit and we used immigration rules to our advantage). I spent 3 week in the town/village of Bayamo. Great people there...
As a car guy..I wanted to hire a cargo ship and buy every car on the island

You'll enjoy a drive like that whenever you want, make the experience truly unforgettable.

@@theextremeanimator4721 this right here! I'm Cuban but moved to the US back in 2012 when I was about 7 and it was as bad as you can imagine, only reason I still visit is because I still have family over there but if it wasn't for them I wouldn't step another foot in that country, nothing but sadness floods into my head whenever I think about where id be if I had not had the chance to come here. I guess its neat for others for tourism and such but ask anybody else that was born there if Theye'd ever go back

These cars weren't all left behind by the people who left Cuba. If you owned a car as of Jan. 1, 1959, when the Castro regime began, you were allowed to keep it - but you could not sell it, only transfer ownership to a close relative. In 2011 or 2012, the prohibition on selling cars was ended. Since it was impossible to get new cars pretty much from the early 1960s onwards, if you were lucky enough to own one, you kept it running!

I agree i have a 1983 Mercedes 240d. Plus i have been criticize on one of my employees the one's into modern cars society that don't know about the history of classic cars mainly because where i live on the east coast there is quite dummer ones as if i was on the west coast my life would be different on classic cars. The geat thing is i run into more retired and wealthy people know more when i feel pleased on my car in the middle class neighborhood and valleys that has A lot of acres they are my people that understand classics cars history.

Where do they find them ? We junked 70 percent of ours. The ones we do restore are 75 percent fiberglass or replicas. The engines are rarely original so we use newer crate motors. We threw our classic cars away.
