I think it is one of the best podcasts, I've ever listened to so far in recent times! Thanks to host Yahia Amin and the guest Dr Sayem Hossain for their very engaging and informative discussion. I couldn't agree more with them. Just one little point I want to add here about our teachers in elementary and middle school is that nowadays we don't get the most bright, meritorious and talented graduates as teachers like we used to get in the old days! Many famous Bengali writers/litterateurs/ Scientists/Scholars of 18, 19 and early 20 centuries used to adopt teaching as their career. Many of them were accomplished teachers and educators! Though they were also underpaid back then ( Syed Mujtaba Ali's short Story 'Pandit Moshai' is the glaring proof of that) in absence of other respected and decent job opportunities, the best students preferred teaching as their career. However, in the late 20 and 21st centuries, the job market has changed radically. There are now more lucrative and decent career opportunities for the best talents. As a result, we're losing the best talents who could be creative teachers or educators for our elementary and middle schools. The teacher recruitment process is also mired in corruption and inefficiency. Another two weak links in our education system are 1. Curriculum that does not make us self-directed learners, inquisitive problem-solvers who can think critically and innovatively. 2. Assessment of learning: The assessment that we have at different levels hardly assesses our real learning like analytical ability, critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, comprehension, and meta-analysis. It just assesses the knowledge that we gain from rote learning! Finally, I would like to say it is high time to take necessary short and long-term remedial and renovation measures to revamp our education system so that we can yield the most dividend from our ongoing youth bulge. It is also our priority because there is no place for unskilled human capital (?) in the context of the fourth industrial revolution.

No doubt our education system is C grade...👎বিশেষ করে স্কুল কারিকুলাম & সিলেবাস তো রীতিমতো ভয়ানক..! ক্লাস 1 - 8 এর শিক্ষার্থীদের বয়স এবং ক্লাসের তুলনায়...পড়ার চাপ এত বেশি যে, তাদের busy schedule এ খেলার কোন স্কোপই নেই...!! অথচ খেলাধুলা শারীরিক & মানসিক স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য অপরিহার্য...! শৈশবে আমরা কত খেলাধুলা করেছি... নন সিলেবাস বই পড়েছি...! আর এখন... বাচ্চাদের বস্তাসম বইয়ের ব্যাগের ভারে সোজা হয়ে দাড়ানো দায়..! A+ পাওয়ার অসুস্থ প্রতিযোগিতা চলছে...! তাদের শৈশবের আনন্দ, উচ্ছাস সব বইয়ের স্তুপের নিচে চাপা পরে গেছে..! অবিলম্বে আমাদের স্কুলের কারিকুলামে আমূল পরিবর্তন আনা এখন সময়ের দাবি..! ✊✊️

We go to institutions to "learn & develop ourselves" as humans NOT to compete with others. Our school systems should create individual progress profiles for every student & monitor it, result should be given based on the comparison to the individual's previous marks & progress, not with the highest marks in class. Comparison about development should only take place with our own self not with other people. Our Government should address this issue & make some changes, only if they are clever! Thank you so much for bringing these type of issues in the podcast, loved listening to it.

World is reaching the lvl of Quantum tech and we do still need to memorize those phrases about political mans and kings. Lovely discussion brothers. I would like to share my experience about my younger brother. He's doing his PhD in Germany. He completed his bachelor from SUST,Sylhet.And then he completed his masters from Germany too,now doing his PhD. I always unappreciated him for BCS,even he doesn't wanted to do it too.bcz he will study bogus and bullshit things for preparation of BCS which is valueless. If he successed for BCS then the candidate should be pay extra money(our minister said like that)for job which is I and he always disagree.bcz I calculate,with this amount of money he can study abroad. Then we decided to study abroad.
Yahia Amin uncle please take a stand, you could know peoples who are responsible for this. Please help us. No one takes action about this. I'm reading in class 9 and I listen every podcast. No ones really cares. Please do something. Make a change.

A university shouldn’t exist without a proper campus.BRAC has repeatedly failed in providing students with proper infrastructure.Recently their student admission process has been very shady with their filtering of students prioritising revenue over quality of education.I have seen students who are doing second level courses but dont know the basic.Its surprising how they passed those pre requisite courses showing that bracs standards have dropped.

The discussion is way more constructive. But I would rather say Mr. Amin shouldn’t stop him on his midway of speaking. This happened several times and looks embarrassing.
I think everyone should talk about the educational system of Bangladesh. Because of this system, our schools has been turned into torture sells. Also, we should constructively criticize our traditional parenting. Our parents are too much capitalist and less religious rather than us. In one word, Bangladesh' parents are the worst in the world ( Allah maf koruk eita bolar jonne, but kichu korar nei ). Alhamdulillah I am so glad that my parents are not same like the stupids, but still there is a problem. It's the education factor. They don't force or behave bad with me. But some shameless aunties, uncles and so called teachers always try to brainwash them. That's why sometimes, they become so so sad and mentally stressed about my future. I believe that Allah is the all mighty and he guides everyone to their good life. But the shameless and unsocial society is a barrier between our good life and us. You know what, our so called intellectuals are responsible for that. Our religious scholars are also responsible for that, everyone are not same but the negativity spreads faster. There is a solution, and it is that we should do a massive size of movement. And especially the high school students should lead it. If we want we can do a revolution on our educational system. Same as the Indians and Pakistanis who have been successfull on this.

A university shouldn’t exist without a proper campus.BRAC has repeatedly failed in providing students with proper infrastructure.Recently their student admission process has been very shady with their filtering of students prioritising revenue over quality of education.I have seen students who are doing second level courses but dont know the basic.Its surprising how they passed those pre requisite courses showing that bracs standards have dropped.

I think everyone should talk about the educational system of Bangladesh. Because of this system, our schools has been turned into torture sells. Also, we should constructively criticize our traditional parenting. Our parents are too much capitalist and less religious rather than us. In one word, Bangladesh' parents are the worst in the world ( Allah maf koruk eita bolar jonne, but kichu korar nei ). Alhamdulillah I am so glad that my parents are not same like the stupids, but still there is a problem. It's the education factor. They don't force or behave bad with me. But some shameless aunties, uncles and so called teachers always try to brainwash them. That's why sometimes, they become so so sad and mentally stressed about my future. I believe that Allah is the all mighty and he guides everyone to their good life. But the shameless and unsocial society is a barrier between our good life and us. You know what, our so called intellectuals are responsible for that. Our religious scholars are also responsible for that, everyone are not same but the negativity spreads faster. There is a solution, and it is that we should do a massive size of movement. And especially the high school students should lead it. If we want we can do a revolution on our educational system. Same as the Indians and Pakistanis who have been successfull on this.
