Pete Rock is a beast. I know this came out in 1995 but I dont remember college radio playing these records until 1997 or 1998. I hate the music biz but now there are some workarounds to majors and even whatever some of the legal red tape is with indy's - with streaming, but i am sure big business will change those rules when they get the chance. Griselda records is a middle age hip hop heads final hope, Roc Marciano, 38 Spesh and a few others are still doing it too. And I still love when Edo G, Masta Ace, The LOX or anything Madlib as Madlib or Quasimoto or Lord Quas puts out currently. I still see guys like Planet Asia putting out music now who was all over college and community radio in the late 90s but still wont get a mention on a mainstream station. I hope that Kendrick can inspire the young fellas on the radio right now to increase their level of focus on the substance and perfecting their craft. I have been killing Jadakiss and Styles P singles the last week and am humbled by the number of creme de la creme verses those guys have put out over the years with very little airplay and almost no airplay of their best music. No more letters from me on here.

I believe the later verse is in French. Dope review. I always appreciated that none of the emcees dominated this song. Each verse seems pretty equal in terms of how much the rappers contributed

Have you listened to The Outsidaz? Most underrated group in the history of Hip-hop. Only known cos friggin Eminem rapped with em for a bit. Pacewon and Young Zee are outstanding, but they're all great. Check out their albums Night Life and The Bricks. Practically every track bangs real hard

@Pablo KRS used to MC rap battles, i think that's where he met Zee, when Zee won. There's a video somewhere and it's hilarious. He's battling a woman and, Zee being Zee; ever the ladies' man, refuses to destroy her and instead pretty much comes on to her in verse. Says something like 'my ten foot pole will fuck a hole in your soul'. Haven't seen it for years tho so i'm probably misremembering
