Codename: Outbreak (also known as Venom: Codename: Outbreak) is a first-person shooter video game developed by Ukrainian GSC Game World and published by Virgin Interactive. It is set during the early 21st century. Prior to the start of the game, a meteor shower arrives containing a parasitic alien life form that takes control of their hosts. The invasion is fast spreading. The game involves fighting off this alien invasion over 14 different levels.

This is where S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was really born. Original FPS by GSC Game World with their original 3D engine. Game still rocks! Love it. Good to know that classic Ukrainian games are so popular all over the world.

Loved this game in my teenage years. It was something quite unseen for a 2001 shooter, it had tactical elements like almost no other game, in combination with good graphics for it's day and even small details like moving through bushes made sounds that could alert nearby enemies and things that were overlooked or even not possible with the technology. Only thing is - I only played it in Russian, not only it's more authentic, but the voice actors are more badass and the dialogue simply does not translate well into English.
Yeah english audio us utter dogshit but the funny thing is I never noticed that until I got back to it, when I fist played it I was like 9-10 iirc and english isnt my native language so I thought its legit english spoken there :D
I remember this game. It's my first pc game in 2001. I was a teenager it was so scary I couldn't play. PC was really rare in home and nobody could help me what to do in this game. So I stopped playing.

I remembered playing this game almost quitting in the part where there are lots of trees. Couldn't get my way out. got stuck for hours running in circles. felt so real I couldn't go to sleep thinking about it lmao
You mean the swamp? Where you have no map only have to go by the compass? That mission was cool AF imo, twice as much back in the day where this was pretty much kinda revolutionary stuff
@@NotEvenDeathCanSaveU yes that part where there was no map to follow. I went hours going around in circles. I ended up quitting the game for a week cause it literally stressed me out
That Game was something else it wasn´t just mindless shooting it was strategy and stealth maan i loved it and i loved the way it felt to shoot and aim i guess its Nostalgia whats kicked in i remember playin it in 2001 the Graphics blew my mind and the Rock tunes were just perfect
Amen lol.. This was part of my childhood.. I love to replay it every couple years.. Too bad GSC didnt release editor for it, as they intended to do if it was popular enough..

Finally found the ventilation shaft thanks to the video. Now I can move on with life.
Man this game hasn't aged well. But holy cow it had some impressive features for its time.
Look at how the health and shield counter are on your wrist and ammo counters on the gun instead of being fixed to the corner of your screen. Small thing but impressive.
The gun is dorky as all get out but dang the animations are great. It can rotate from machine gun to sniper to shotgun to laser etc. If i remember right you can also modify your setup before each level similar to an RPG. Get better armor etc.
When you went prone you automatically got a camo net around you. Combine that with the built in long distance microphone when you zoom in too lol that was some next level spy stuff for 2001.
It's taken me years to track down this game. I loved it, but couldn't remember what it was called. Awesome game!
same situation but I did not actively try to find it. Today I reminded myself of it and searched key words: comed, parasite, fps and this game popped out.
This brings back fond memories!!! Just downloaded from GOG. There's a couple of (easy) fixes you need to do to (the GOG version) to have it running perfectly again on Win10. Love this game! 😎

I stopped playing it after reaching the LABS level , I don't remember why I stopped. I guess I formatted my PC

Yea lets go next gen graphics !!! Look at those 3d models, look at the volumetric clouds. Definitely looks better than other ps1 games.
That music was so phat back in the day. Game music is pretty weak these days or stupid pop music.

How did you make this work without graphical glitches? When I fire it up on win7 (970 and 1080Ti too) or win xp (550Ti, also the same with 9800 GT and 6600 GT) it just throws me these weird main menu glitches where everything is kinda fked up making lines from the upper left corner of the screen, and when I manage to get it ingame it sorta disappears every like 1 second and everything looks great in that split second except when I switch it to night and then all lights are displayed like this non-transparent light bloomy square texture... I guess I ll get some 775 mobo that has integrated gpu on it from my experience some of those work pretty well with older games, iirc I was playing all kind of stuff on it incl. this without any not-so reliable fixes and other crap
There were some bugs anyway I've used a dgvoodoo with it for sure.

Game had bags of atmosphere.
I loved the game, i was always out of ammo because of the small parasites.
