Felt like a fastback to me. We were at a KOA in Texas, the escort took me down a road with a U turn (practically) to get into a site that frankly wouldn't fit me. I stopped and told him - "your kidding me right?" Had to reverse all the way back down the street to move to another site. One of the bosses at the KOA said - they haven't a clue in the office - they just put you anywhere! I said, and that is suppose to make me feel better? LOL! I felt your stress trying to figure out how to get into the site... the roads kept getting narrower and narrower...I was waiting for Dave to say screw it.. I will find a parking lot somewhere else! Safe travels you two!
Actually Dave did say, that's it, we gotta find someplace else, but I got him to hang in there with someone on the phone with us. That's not the first time I've heard (and been there) the guide not having a clue what will fit where. When this happens with a toad on the back of a motorhome, they can't back up, so double whammy there.
So sorry for all the trouble it caused you to stay there! My sister in law lives there (Forsythe)so we are going to stay at that KOA over the 4th of July and am so glad we saw your video as to go to the back road and come in there. We usually stay at High Falls State Park about 10 minutes farther north of Forsythe but chose the KOA this time for proximity. We are not quite as long as you as we are 56 feet without a toad, just 5th wheel and truck. Your reviews have been so helpful as we have visited many of the same areas as you and your recommendations as well as videos on directions are stellar. Thanks for all your content, it helps me so much! Safe travels to you both!
Oh, what fun. Stressful, eh? Missed our entrance into a campground and went down a dead-end road. Had to back up into an apartment complex parking lot to get turned around. Had another time had to back up onto a crop field road to get turned around and a few others. Always an adventure. 😁
That was certainly a Dave's patience tester , luckily not happening all the time , us older people should know by now not to trust technology. We get too complacent then it screws you when your not paying attention , call me old fashioned but I still own maps , hopefully Dave awarded himself 6 beers that evening for the trouble 😊
I always look at the roads in the campground via Google Earth, but I never really pay attention to the roads leading to the entrance. You know I am now. :)
Great directions by Karen and getting them on the horn to figure out how to get in there. Kudos to Dave for getting them in and out of there. I was sucking my cheeks and other parts of my body in as he went down that main campsite road to the very back section. The least they could have done was space yall apart. Great driving as usual Dave! Dude approved!
It's frustrating when you get up to leave the next morning and there's even less people in the campground than the night before. your like, we couldn't park even two more spots apart? I also hate when resteraunts do the same thing. clustered tables next to the kitchen.
The train station that the wounded and dying troops was at the gate of a all women's college named Tift College. My wife graduated from tift . It was a Baptist college. It is now a training center for all first responders in the state of Georgia.
Omgosh GPS …….we were just in Idaho Falls and needed to pick up a part for toilet. We dropped trailer at a GREAT little tourist park on the snake river….and drove truck to do errands rather than unloading pippy our smarty. The GPS took us all through these roads and then says you have arrived! I look on the other side of the interstate, and there is camping world! 🤦🏻♀️. We had to find our way out of there and find a way to cross over interstate without meeting a low bridge….needless to say i shut gps off and found my way. Im very thankful we dropped trailer before heading for part cause there lot was pretty tight also….
We used our GPS going from Daphne, Alabama, which is along the Gulf Coast to Asheville, North Carolina to visit my daughter, the GPS had us go the back way to the campground, not knowing that there was a front way and we ended up going down a one-lane street over a one-lane bridge, then into one-lane residential, we made it, but if there were any other cars they would’ve had to back up.
We have a 38’ motorhome with a motorcycle lift that allows us to pull a toad. We were going to a campground at the beach in Galveston. The GPS took us down a road that deadened into the beach! We can’t back up with the toad attached, so I stayed in the RV while my husband got out to look around to see if there was a place to turn around. He got back in and proceeded to drive out onto the beach! My mind was going crazy trying to figure what it was going to cost to have us towed off the beach. I grew up in Houston so I had gone to the beach all the time, however, he grew up in Wichita Falls and had never been to the beach! I just knew the tow was going to cost us the rest of our vacation money. Lo and behold, we didn’t sink! He didn’t tell me there was a concrete foundation to an old building that we just drove out on. Thank goodness we were able to turn around and the feeder road was a two way road so we just drove a little farther down and to the campground. Safe travels.
We stayed there a couple of years back with our DRV and yes, we struggled also. The section that you stayed in was fairly new at that time and I remember thinking how I wish we could have parked there. Mainly because of some trees that made it hard for me to pull out while trying to make a hard left! LOL! Sometimes these RVing challenges can just push a person's patience to the limit but you guys did great! Thank you for sharing!! Just curious, how many beers for the extra stress? LOL! Wishing you both safe travels!
Oh my. It is always our worst nightmare that we will end up somewhere we can't get out or turn around!! But, we have had to figure things out like that too. The last situation we were so thankful to have a back up camera! Glad it all turned out for you guys. - Michelle
Just an fyi. When I use my gps I always look at an arial of the campground so I can see how it looks. I know you have been doing this a long time. Just giving my opinion. Glad you found a way in. I use gps for work. I drive a semi to make deliveries of roofing materials. It sent me to an intersection and said I arrived. The roads to my right and left were no maintenance roads the one straight ahead was under water. I did eventually get to my destination but it took awhile. Thanks for the video.
Kinda funny, I always look at the aerials to see how the roads are in the campground...tight turns, trees, etc. Would be helpful to not assume you can get into the campground easily and look at that too. :) Thanks for watching.
Yeah, found out you can't always trust the site descriptions or even when you call Bristol/Kingsport KOA is nice for smaller rigs, but while it says big rig friendly and 80' sites that's questionable, the turn in to the campground is steep and getting in the site and out .. not great and level was questionable. We did it without our trailer, but drug going in and out, no way we could do it now towing the trailer behind the RV. We have a 45' Super C (Renegade) and now tow a 24' trailer with the Jeep & SxS... I will add Forsyth GA KOA to my "no fly" zone. Great video... btw we look very similar to the Motorhome you are camped next to only longer with a longer trailer... to funny.
I think we need to pay more attention to Google Earth shots (when you can see the roads) of the road widths. If they are two ways, no problem. When they are one way, then it's tight to back in. Thanks for watching.
We stayed at that Koa several years ago. We enjoyed the campground and the pizza buy yes big rigs are difficult get in following the GPS. Interesting is was the only campground we have stayed at that at 100 psi water pressure. Definetly have to use a water presure regulator there. Not sure if they still have the high water presure or not

Thanks so much for your kind comments. It's folks like you that keeps us doing the videos. Have a good time.

Gotta love the long back ups. We haven't had any crop fields yet. LOL
I was born n raised in Forsyth ga. That Koa has been there forever.
Looks like they are keeping it up quite well.
Dave is so patient. I would have been chewing nails and spitting screws.
Oh yeh, that part got cut out of the video. LOL

Wow, that was a tight park, but Dave handled it like a pro as usual. An extra beer for that. 😁😁
Extra 2 beers my friend. LOL

Yeah, you'd think they could have at least put one open spot between us. We probably won't be staying there again. :)

Awesome. Interesting history in that area.

Oh man you were lucky you dropped the trailer. I would have bought a lottery ticket that day. Wow!
Once I saw that entrance I would have said no way! I would have kept going and figured an alternative.
That's what we did. It all worked out, but won't be back.

Oh man! You got lucky on that one with no one else coming.
Good video because I felt stressed as you were driving around trying to get back to the KOA :)
You'd probably really like the video titled "We Hit" then. Thanks for watching.
pass by the KOA all the time, live in Macon on our way to Atlanta, always wondered about it. Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome. Thanks for watching.

Boy did you luck out. That had to be very scary.

Yep, those roads were narrow. Needed to break out the shot glass. :)

We know what you mean. Especially bad in the dark.

Thanks. Hate those types of detours.

We always use a regulator regardless of where we camp. Don't want to take the chance.
Hi guy's...good job...need to be Tipsy...just to get in it..100'...sites...4' driveway...😅😅😅...
So true. Oh yes, we have long sites, but skinny and no room in between. You know we love our USACOE.
❤
Hi Kari. Thanks for watching.
That road got awfully tight all of a sudden…….🤪
Yep, not one of those things you want to see.
I have had the same troubles getting into a camp grounds with my class A. The GPS does not always give you the correct directions.
Yep, we were sent north one time when we were suppose to go south. We ended up 30 miles out of our way before we could get turned around.
I will never ever tell 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh boy, must be a good one.
Would you buy a DRV RV again? We are worried about frame failure.
Yes, along with New Horizon and maybe Luxe. The frame failure is not specific to DRV only. If we had the money, we'd go for a Spacecraft.
@@WattsOnWheels Thank you.
Never again at a koa , $99 plus tax for 1 night.
I hear that!!!
