Very cool video, thanks for doing this 🙂 As a teen during the early 90s that was enthusiastic about computers, I ran across my share of boxes. One of the things I really miss from back in the day was the cases. They were varied and had personality. Now they're all generic, bland, and "modern" in a boring kind of way imho. Well, this certainly brought back memories from simpler times, thanks for sharing!
I had a bunch of those cases. I remember building computers using that case. I remember when a relative sold their business they needed a backup of the computers and I used a TR-3 to do backups and the front computer was one of these and the floppy drive had failed. I really wish I could find computers like this and the compaq slim line style The square logo, that was blank and people had the logo for their company made and stuck it there. I had 586 boards and 486 boards in these cases. Having the 4 com ports this was probably a POS machine These were tough to build because you had to remove the cage with the hard drive and floopy drive to install the board. These really take me back Windows 3.1 was a game changer It gave the ability to get onto the Internet I remember buying the Windows 95 CD new in the box and it was a huge difference between windows 3.1 and I knew that everyone was going to be buying a computer and the Internet was going to be everywhere and everyone would be using it every day. Each step forward was important, but 3.1 was a huge leap as was 95 and 98SE and XP XP SP3
Windows 95 was the time i got my first true multimedia pc has they called it then and i loved it ill always remember the startup sound . Yes i did have a atari st and micro computers before then but i still think Windows 95 was when pc became easier for everyone and the time of pc gaming
I bet someone had removed the CPU and later someone had a spare Pentium 133 that they put in there but didn't have the proper heatsink/fan, so they put that on temporarily.
This is an amazing find. Congratulations on your two graduates. Now... don't everybody raise their hands and go "Me... me, me,me!" trying to scoop this one up.
The County recycling center to which I take e-waste says drop-off only, but it's unattended and has donated a number ov computers, both towers and notebooks to me.
I haven't thought about Chessmaster 5000 (or possibly a release or two later) since after my dad got a copy from the bargain bin in the early 00s. I remember scouring those help files, and playing the chess puzzles. It didn't help me in my games against him though 😅
The Graphics card is not from 2001, "Diamond Stealth 64 Video 2001" is just the model name of this card, which is from 1995
The cache stick in PC like this one was called a "COAST module." "COAST" was an acronym for "Cache On A STick," iirc

I worked at Microsoft when 95 was released. The whole main campus went nuts.

Thanks for the video, I always love PC archaeology.

I wish we had an e-waste place near me were I could trash pick. We have a county recycling facility, but we can't take anything, only drop off.
Bummer

Gongratulations with your doughters. I wish the best with the covid. Nice found. Greetings from Steven from the Netherlands
Thanks 👍
Ecky thump! Think of the treasure on that hard drive!
It could make a decent Retro Games DOS/Win9x machine with minimal investment.

I really like that style of cases. a pity they never show up in my part of the world (Norway)
Is it a battery, or is it a socketed Dallas - or an unsocketed!
It is a CR 2032 battery

Too bad there isn't a service to remotely fix these old PCs online. Lol
You should leave the modem in. I mean, there's no reason not to have it.
What's a guy gotta do to purchase that from you LOL! No Seriously, I'm looking for a win95 machine for my collection!
Are you allowed to take stuff at your e-waste?
