- Many people who watched my MSI RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio review had asked if they card was noisy. So I decided to upload this quick short showcasing the noise level of this card under a heavy graphics test.
Noise level for this card are very good, its not noisy at all under load using the stock fan curve.
#nvidia #msi #rtx4090
Damn you got me good. I turn the volume way up listening for the card at idle and then you scream in my ear “NOW WHAT I’M GONNA DO IS RUN TIMESPY EXTREME!!” My fault though lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol
DUDE he earryped my aswell 😅
Same
Did the same , ha!
It’s not fan noise people are complaining about… it’s the coil whine that majority of these GPUs have! You sir won the 4090 lottery and have a solid GPU!
You can just under volt . Are people that stupid
well if you don't disable noise filtering on the mic no one is going to hear the card, duh
I just got this card today from Newegg! This video makes me happy, I was worried about fan noise and coil whine, which the video shows none.
any update???
@@Salted983 He went to hospital because of noise.
@@nguyendinh2052 lol
I just got the exact card yesterday. I was surprised at how quiet it was, I don't notice it at all, I definitely noticed the 3090FE more actually.
The cooler is a lot bigger but the card doesn't need much more energy, therefore the lower noise and temps
Manufacturer?
You don't understand.. The MSI cards (and many more, even Asus) have an issue with coil whine, not fan noise. Coil whine is sometimes hard to pick up on a phone mic so IDK whether you have it or not.
He probably hasn´t. Otherwise it would be there, even with phone mic.
Sadly, coil whine is a variable - nobody can tell, how much will each and every card be affected.
coil whine isnt brand dependent imho.
I've had coil whine with AMD cards and Nvidia cards of most brands ( Asus, Gigabyte, Sapphire, MSI)
@@T4H2C0 i just bought a gigabyte 3090 turbo edition and the fan is loud, but, i'll keep the card for now
That sounds so much better than the Zotec 4090 which was so bad I had to return it. Knew there was a reason it was the only card available at Micro Center….
I can’t believe how cool 4090s run. I know it’s not necessary but I have my fans set to 80% manually and I never went above 48c on cyberpunk ultra + psycho settings
Saying cool and 80% fan speed is like saying you're surprised your CPU is cool on idle with liquid nitrogen.
Also saying Cyberpunk RT psycho means nothing. A 7600XT actually can render Cyberpunk RT psycho. Really depends on your settings. Personally with my 7800XT I'm almost never over 25%
I have a feeling that the coil whine issue is a bit more complex than just “luck of the draw”. I own the exact same card shown in the video but am running it through a 850w 80+ titanium seasonic psu with an 1500VA UPS supplying that. So I am getting extremely clean power into my 4090 and am the least lucky person I know so I have a feeling it’s not a coincidence lol
ur running a 850 watt psu with a 4090?
@@hemzuletes Yup. 850 is what's recommended by Nvidia my guy
@@Star_Spangled_Man_With_A_Plan yeah but i always thought it was a rule of thumb to get 1.5 to 2x your rated wattage to prevent long term damage to the psu and noise
@@hemzuletes it's an 80+ titanium rated psu, so there really isn't any noise. And the most I've ever seen the 4090 pull is around 450w (I don't overclock bc the 4090 is a beast and I'm usually CPU bottlenecked anyway), coupled with my 5800x3d that almost never pulls more than 100w, I'm at around 65% of my psus rated power delivery under load. 60% load is actually where psus are most efficient, a lot of them even have a little graph on the back of the box that displays this.
@@Star_Spangled_Man_With_A_Plan yeah u right
Had to change my Asus TUF 4090 OC OG one time to win the 4090 Lottery.
Welcome to the silent club Sir.
Mine is pretty much perfectly quite as far as I can tell. I am running it with a 70% power limit though
power limit must have :))
My 3080 when playing a game “SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”. Coil whine is so annoying lol. This sounds like heaven
Undervolt and you'll eliminate the coil whine.
Yeah mine is quiet too, very happy.
2 mo update. Ended up putting an EK water block on it. Not because of the noise, just like the look of a custom loop. Also the decrease in temps resulted in 4-5 fps more in timespy.
I have one on the way. I was worried because it lacks some of the features of the Tuf Gaming like the vapor chamber, but it seems pretty quiet anyway. Looking forward to getting mine!
I have the card and the only issue I see is that it drops some frequency when everything is used ( RTX, Tensors, DLSS) because of the power limit.
Tuf is not getting better temps than this. Its just marketing bro. Buy whatever is cheaper because it doesnt matter.
Mine is quiet too. No louder than my previous 6950xt, 2080ti, or 7 other graphics cards before that.
Mine also sitting at 60c while gaming. So happy
coil whine?
My MSI gaming X slim is so quite while gaming its insane Ive never had one like this from any of the other brands.
even at 100% load????
@aladdin7387 Yes its still working just as good and quiet you can't hear it at all and to be honest with there isn't many games that can push the 4090 to full load hell most of the time I am gaming it's using under 330 watts.
But going forward MSI will be my go to brand my friend at work also got one and he loves it....Not saying some people won't get a little coil wine because some folks are just unlucky but playing games like Cyberpunk,Allen Wake,Madden 24,Fallout,Dayz,NBA 24,Witcher 2-3 still nothing from what one I got.
I can't hear.. my pc is too loud
I got 3060ti X Trio at launch for a good price at the time. It really is an excellent line for good thermals and low volume.
How’s the coil whine?
Thabk you man , good info
My 2080ti was a xtrio so I will for sure invest in their products again. Great card.
Mine has a lot of coul whine is the only real complaint I have
Under volt your gpu. Probably bad PSU
Mine has so much coil whine
Same.
I have never had a card make as much noise as my msi 4090. I can be in the kitchen which is a room away and still hear it whining.
Got mine yesterday and me too. Glad am not alone 😢
I got the zotac model, under normal use I can't hear it, turn the fans up when overclocking and my goodness it's loud!
Mine also had. I turned it back
Thanks. Ordered one from newegg earlier this morning and wasn't sure on the noise as some reviewers claim coil whine. So if I get unlucky with coil whine I will just exchange it.
how is it?
Damn my 10 yr old gtx 650 sounds like a plane engine compared to that💀
You got us in the first half
someone I know who does not care about noise offers me to trade my tuf against a msi trio x
Would it be a fair trade? My Tuf is noisy for coil whine but has amazing temperatures and fans are dead silent.
I don't want to regret the change.
Thanks
The card has a dual BIOS switch... Did you use the Quiet BIOS or the Performance BIOS?
Why some 4090 have so much coil whine? And what is better msi or asus?
They better be silent. These have over-engineered heat sinks for what Nvidia ended up producing.
the problem is the coil whine not the fans
Why is my 4090 fans still spinning even at idle after gaming? but when I reboot and stay in desktop, it doesn't?
Just got mine, why did they come with 3x 8 pin and not a 4x 8 pin?
Because the power limit is only 480w in the card's vbios. The power limit for the founder's and other AIB's are greatly exaggerated and overclocking with the 600w power limit doesn't really result in any crazy gains. Don't worry about it, you got a solid card. It's capacitors are cut down compared to say the Suprim model or Strix but it doesn't even matter because they are still absolutely overkill. You'll get much more efficiency out of the card if you undervolt and limit it to say 75%, while only losing about 3% performance.
Is the msi 4090 mini is better? Any body?
I have the same card, and it’s very silent! However it definitely has light coil whine
Same but it doesn't bother me
Under volt it will remove all coil whine. You guys probably have bad PSU AND motherboard combinations
I hear mines from rooms away with the amount of coil whine it produces.
Probably bad PSU. Under volt your gpu
Yeah its pretty quiet on normal fan curve. But have you maxed the fans out? At 3300rpm they can be loud, but cool as well...
Wow, maybe I won’t even need a water block
Did anybody hear coil whine?
İ hear it
Me the same….
@@marcoseghizzi4218 btw thats my gaming x trio coil whine is not so mouch but when i run 5 time furmark i smell plastic burning .d.d.d i checked no damage to cable "YET" but no need to kill the card i set pw to %60 waiting for nvida explanation
@@Oguzhan34 ......... no words man, after look this video i write immediatly to msi and the store, but the store say that is a normal sound.... i say that is a joke that a GPU of 2200€ make coil whine... they say to me that in the past with other model was the same...... i hope that MSI take my card and "repair" if it possible. i have my "old" 70ti msi trio ventus, this card doesn't make any sound about coil whine.... and is the cheaper Gpu of msi XD
What PSU u using
Question, whats your clocks at gaming 4k high? Founders is stomping out aib...
mine makes a weird noise if i set fan speed to 60% it has to do with the shroud.
Bro that gpu cable is triggering my ocd lol
I love my 4090 🙆
I hear coil whine. It's slight but there. I'm very sensitive to high pitch noise and can hear it
I too hear.
i have the gaming x trio 3080ti and there’s literally no audible coil whine and runs like a champ
What psu?
@@SusonsteiN corsair rm850x 2018 editon. the 2018 edition is more heavy duty than the newest one
@@reddukk2755 I have a 2020 RM 750W and didnt have coil whine with an Aourus GTX1080ti, now with TUF 3070 I got alot of coil but temps and performance are really good. I thinking on RMA the card but Im not sure if another card is going to be the same coil.
@@SusonsteiN it just depends on the card. it’s sort of like silicon lottery; some whine louder than others. if the whine is very loud and starts to get annoying, it wouldn’t hurt to RMA it
@@SusonsteiNunder volt your gpu will remove all coil whine
~1400rpm seems kinda slow compared to other AIBs
Well I believe there’s still a market for AMD and Nvidia with those who doesn’t have many options like 3D artist that need to render now in 4 k with the addition of Ai and so on with software that is needed in production and ask for ridiculous specs, but still is a stupid move, your average consumer is the one who keeps running things in terms of cash inflow
Rest suprim x
What psu are you using?
its called coilwind.
Some get it more than others. Just like the silcon.
Draw a straw
Question: I know this card is limited to 450W ( 3 cables) but is this limitation via hardware in the card? or you can put a 600W cable?
wondering also
I have this card, atrocious coil whine, especially under a water block
Mantap
Nice.
Yes, but what about in a case with bad airflow :)
Who the hell gives 2k$ for a card and is using a bad airflow case? Even if that is the case, that person should absolutely grab a 4080 and upgrade the case and fans with the money difference xD
@@almostfam0us963 You would be surprised at the amount of people who do that.
Same card not much sound at all
Btw is the gaming X trio version better than the suprim version?
No, the suprim is the highest in MSI
@@norbertgudek6274 U sure? It costs less than the X Trio in my place.
@@GAMINGALEXYT-im7bj than you should snipe it right now. Suprim is pretty much on pair with asus rog strix
@@norbertgudek6274 okay. Thanks bro. I thought of getting the x trio version. Thanks a lot.
does it have coil whine?
Every card has coilwhine if you over clock it or if you have a poor components combination
LOL I got the same card and its silent!
I hear only lie coil whines )
Cara, que montagem horrorosa desse Pc kkkkkk
just sold my MSI 4090, never again
why?!
@@aladdin7387 it could not do what i got it for well enough to justify the price of the card and 15% extra cost on my electric bill
Amd 🙏
The non noob way is to just adjust fan speed in afterburner gradually. Didn't need to waste power running a benchmark just to test fan noise. Also 3d mark won't get the fans to max rpm.
What pc case are you using?!
It's an open test bench
