If they want a filibuster they should be required to stand on the floor of the senate and talk the entire time. They shouldn’t be able to say “I’m filibusting” and then go home

This was actually how they used to do it. There was one case where a Senator spoke on the Senate floor for 24 hours straight to try and filibuster the 1957 Civil Rights Act. But now, it just evolved to whether or not you have enough votes to overcome the filibuster.

I think America would much like to hear what some of our senators really think of their constituents. Get them talking about helping the poor and oppressed for long enough, and those euphemisms they love so much would wear away into being overt.

    Mrs. Warren is spittin' facts.
Senators would filibuster for hours, claiming lynching wasn't necessarily a bad thing. If they want to filibuster, they need to speak for hours how voting rights legislation, or stimulus, or sentencing reform, are bad things.😕

Thanks for this explanation, I'm Swedish, and I have heard these terms filibuster and gerrymandering a lot in American politics, and they come across so very odd to me.
Get rid off all those things that limits democracy, like these things, and having election day on a work day, and having long lines so people have to take time off work to vote.
Any party that creates or upholds a lot of rules and loopholes to stop the will of the people, should never be supported.

So, the idea that each party would need a vast majority to get anything done is just a sick game to keep a tight leash on both parties. The corporations don't want either party to have real influence.

Impeachment in the House only requires a majority to move it to the Senate for a trial.
