Cane Corsos are extremely protective of their owners & family. They are very loving, affectionate and have a lot of cognitive potential. They do require a lot of proper training. My Corso always sits in front of me in a guarding stance whenever I sit down, if there’s anyone in front of me talking or when I’m alone at home. We never taught him to do that.

We had a rottie....biggest baby you ever met! The little ones could jump on him and he wouldn't even react....literally had neighbors kid do this once before we could stop the kid... we taught the kid afterwards that you treat animals with kindness respect and yes firmness. Anyways, fast forward many years. We had just moved into a new place, my teenage daughter was home alone when the old home owner shows up asking at the door about his mail...when he suddenly pushes his way into the house. My daughter said she never even seen or heard where our rottie came from...but he was between them guarding her in seconds from the intruder. We had NEVER trained him to do that....he just sensed her distress and reacted. The guy took off, we let police know and rottie got a huge bone as a TY! We had our rottie 13 years.... and we still miss him, best dog we ever had!

Did everyone see the child gesture for the dog to sit with his left hand? He then waited for the dog to sit holding his right hand patiently on the dogs shoulder. Once the Corso sat he became excited and then petted the dog with a congratulatory pat. Afterwards he checked the dogs posture and went around to speak to him. This was so beautiful to watch. The training both with the dog and child. Respectfully. For those who didn't see or disagree. The child gestures at 00:07. Left hand, the dog sees at 00:08 and then sits. Pay close attention to the child's energy and body language before and after these precious 8 seconds. If you have children then you understand how they communicate without words. As do animals. 🙏🏿
I love this!!! I had a Pit Bull / Cane Corso cross Thunder who passed last July. He was just as gentle & loved kids, especially the little ones. His bark, however, kept all solicitors away...lol. This video just proves it's all about how much you love them & make them family.

I had a crazy pitbull if he didn't know u he wouldn't let u near the hpuse but 1 day my niece came home from school not feeling well and the dog was only 5 months old he layed on her chest didn't move or let anyone near her he was the best guard dog but we had to put him in a room with the door shut or outside on the chain when we had people over

It all helps the owner to control the dog by stating his leader status, and the dog to rely on the pack rules and leaders orders FIRST, only than on its natural instincts. I’ll be honest, cane corso’s scare me a little. Not the dogs themselves but rather that people get them without doing the research or training and just want them ‘cause they’re big. @@cmendr011 They were originally bred for guarding livestock, I believe. Much like the maremma, I think. But, as anyone with any type of dog knows, guarding behaviour can get downright nuts if it’s not managed properly.

I have a friend who is a home protection trainer, he once told me, and I quote "they the best home protection breed there is."
Never had to train my Shepherds or my malamute to do that.

We had a rottie....biggest baby you ever met! The little ones could jump on him and he wouldn't even react....literally had neighbors kid do this once before we could stop the kid... we taught the kid afterwards that you treat animals with kindness respect and yes firmness. Anyways, fast forward many years. We had just moved into a new place, my teenage daughter was home alone when the old home owner shows up asking at the door about his mail...when he suddenly pushes his way into the house. My daughter said she never even seen or heard where our rottie came from...but he was between them guarding her in seconds from the intruder. We had NEVER trained him to do that....he just sensed her distress and reacted. The guy took off, we let police know and rottie got a huge bone as a TY! We had our rottie 13 years.... and we still miss him, best dog we ever had!

They eventually learn their size, but as puppies they don't get it. We had many MANY knockdown in the beginning with ours..now are corso and 5 year old grandson are inseparable and she's very gentle with him

Did everyone see the child gesture for the dog to sit with his left hand? He then waited for the dog to sit holding his right hand patiently on the dogs shoulder. Once the Corso sat he became excited and then petted the dog with a congratulatory pat. Afterwards he checked the dogs posture and went around to speak to him. This was so beautiful to watch. The training both with the dog and child. Respectfully.
For those who didn't see or disagree. The child gestures at 00:07. Left hand, the dog sees at 00:08 and then sits. Pay close attention to the child's energy and body language before and after these precious 8 seconds. If you have children then you understand how they communicate without words. As do animals. 🙏🏿

I love this!!! I had a Pit Bull / Cane Corso cross Thunder who passed last July. He was just as gentle & loved kids, especially the little ones. His bark, however, kept all solicitors away...lol. This video just proves it's all about how much you love them & make them family.

Thats really good that the parents taught the kid to be gentle with the dogs. Also dogs have a way of knowing that most little kids & babies don't understand & will tolerate them & still love them. Dogs have a beautiful nature & natural instinct to love & protect young kids & babies. They sometimes think of a human child or babies as their own young.

I have a Cane myself and if you properly train them, they can be some of the nicest dogs but also the most protective dogs too.
