97 years old, and it still seems too soon. He made such a huge impact.
mans a legend... if only the queen of england would grant him 1/4 of her lifespan he would also be immortal ;(
@@foffeboy7866 I know we’re mourning right now, but that’s a funny comment right there 😂 I wish that happened tho 😔
If I make it to 97 I'll be stoked.

yeah Well said
Devastated to hear the news. Murray had the special ability to infuse his passion for motorsport into others, something that enthralled viewers of all ages. I can safely say that there are literally generations of fans across the world that wouldn't have found their way without his peerless abilitly (including myself)
The world of motorsport is truly a worse place without him.
Rest in peace legend.
agreed
He is the only picture I can hear. He is one of if only the happiest person I know. His impact on the sport is unmatched. R. I. P a legend
I'm only a teenager, and Murray still reached me when i got into racing
Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone as passionate about what they do as he did

Favourite quote: "It's my job to be excited and say 'there goes Hakkinnen!' and it's Martin [Brundle]'s job to say 'no, that's Coulthard'
We need a statue of Murray at Silverstone. He's just as legendary to the sport as the many F1 champions the UK has produced
Definitely
I stand for this
We need this
Aye!
I agree
we need to start a petition to get Murray Walker into the motorsport hall of fame
And it's go go go
Surely, that must now be a no-brainer for the F1 HoF committee?
A posthumous Knighthood would be fantastic too I think.
@@wardie33 exactly
Well i'd sign it
My favourite Murray moment: Theres nothing wrong with that car except it’s on fire !
true
That is so funny 🤣😂
😪we all mis him

Truly amazing man
Had a great sense of humour
"I don't remember buying Mclaren."
"I've done it again!"
XD
"The lead car is unique, except for the one behind it, which is identical." - Murray Walker
"And I've got to stop now, because I have a lump in my throat" Today Murray we all have.
He's with Hunt now, and they're probably commentating the tests in Bahrain.
Definitely commentating to those viewing from Heaven
And it's go, go, go
Hunt: What's s🅱️innala, Murray?
Walker: It's a 21st century thing.
Commentating To ayrton senna, niki, stirling moss, and many more.
Love that!
Somewhere up there, he must be commentating even better than he did here on Earth. Rest in Peace Murray.
He's commentating the Heaven Grand Prix now. He'll be missed dearly.

He's comentating the Rolator Race between Senna and Lauda🥺🤌🏻
Yes he's commentating Ayrton senna Niki lauda Antoine Hubert Jules bianci and many others.. Rest In Peace All

I'm just glad that James Hunt had finally been reunited with one of his friends after decades of being separated. And they finally get to commentate on a race where Senna, Rindt, Villeneuve, Fangio, Lauda, Graham Hill and Farina all race together, as Jim Clark watches from afar on a farm close to the track. May they all rest in peace, we'll miss them all.

Even though he was 97, I still wanted to have him live a lot longer. My brother was able to get a picture with him when he was younger and we have treasured that picture ever since. It really shows the power of Murray Walker
Farewell, Murray Walker.
Rest in peace.
I never watched a Walker commentated race, but I know the impact he has had on the sport is so great, and his quotes make me smile every time. Rest In Peace Murray Walker ❤️
Oh hello there

Murrayisms is what these "mistakes" were called during commentary! I hope they still are and will be forever .So his name can live on!
I think Murrayisms have expanded beyond F1! I call Chris Kamara the Murray Walker of football because he makes those same verbal hiccups and he feeds back the action so passionately. Every commentator that speaks like that is a commentator worth liking.
I think one of his greatest Murrayisms was “Never ever give Schumacher half a chance, he’ll be up like a ferret in a drain pipe”
Just such a great and wonderful man.
Him and James Hunt were indeed a pair, and now they're back together.
Enjoy the races up there sir as we enjoy them down here.
I think you'll find, if there is an afterlife, they'll be avoiding each other.

Crofty’s right. Calling him a legend is not enough.
There will never be another like Murray. Thank you for everything. You will be forever missed. ❤️
None can draw you into a race like him all modern commentators are dry and boring.
This wasnt Crofty tho, Will Buxton narrated this piece ^^
@@stubbi I know. But I saw his own tributes beforehand and they're definitely worth mentioning.
He never made mistakes, he made prophecies that immediately turned out to be wrong. A true legend to the sport. Rest in Peace Murray. F1 will miss you so much.
Being an American there wasn’t much exposure for F1. But hearing him practically jump through the microphone to bring you to the track was amazing. His humor, wit, and mistakes made him a legend. Thanks for the memories Murray
legends are remembered forever, but if they become a part of you they are more than legends. and if you can make such an impact on someone, you will not only be remembered forever, but you will never die. 🖤

When a commentator makes the sport more exciting than the participants. Probably the greatest commentator ever.
When murray walker commented. He put you in the driver's seat. A true master of words
You said it perfectly
He put you in the armchair looking with intensity all the race. Even the race itself was boring, he could make it intense
So agree 👍
I'm from Argentina. The land of Fangio, Froilán González and Reutemann. It's so sad to hear the news about Murray Walker. The golden era, F1's 80s belong to Murray Walker. I consider this sad news like the day Fangio passed away. Murray Walker now walks through heavens among the greatest drivers of Formula One history. Fangio, Moss, Clark, Senna, Niki Lauda and many more. He's right next to them. It couldn't be otherwise. Rest in peace Murray Walker.
Beautifully said. X
yo también soy argentino
Like many others here i'm sure, Murray was the soundtrack to my childhood. I was fortunate enough to meet him when i was 12 yo. He signed my Nigel Mansell scrap book and we chatted for about 10 mins about cars and motorbikes. They say you should never meet your heroes, but I'm so glad I got to meet Murray. He was such gentleman and it meant so much to me to as a kid. Thank you for everything Murray. The world of motorsport will never be the same without you.
Murray Walker had an ‘INCREDIBLE’ career and impact on F1.
Sports in general need more people like Murray Walker.
Well done Mr. Walker.
Let's not forget he was a war hero too and I do mean hero, his war stories are quite amazing.
I can still hear him saying "And it's a go go go!".
this is sensational
always when i watch the start of an f1 race i just think of that iconic "and it's go go go!" and think of how great and hilarious he is
I just heard this comment in my head.😢
We all can hear his voice
He made something as simple as 20 cars turning fast around a circuit sound like the most dramatic and important thing ever, and he was the reason why thousands watch F1 today. Rest in peace legend
Such a legendary voice
Only started to watch F1 under the Crofty era of commentating but I've seen many of the classic races and thoroughly enjoyed Murray's talent with words.
Such a wonderful tribute it made me tear up a bit. Thanks, Will.
Goodbye Legend. Your voice will always remain in our hearts. We will miss you forever. Commentators like you will never be again. Rest in peace, legendary motorsport commentator :(
rest in peace, a true legend and icon in not only F1 but the entire motorsport industry.

@@nielsvos8382 Eh, just wanted to help 🤷
It's difficult to explain. It felt like you were there somehow and his enthusiasm was addictive. I was up at sometimes 2am on a school day to watch the magic that was the F1 Spectacular. When things went wrong, such as Senna's crash, the genuine shock, disbelief and careful choice of words made it real, as though you had watched it happen in front of you. The man was easily one of the best commentators, let alone sports or racing commentators.

The greatest commentator. Thank you Murray.
You legacy will still be enjoyed for generations to come, like the enjoyment previous have gotten.
From a little boy the first F1 race I witnessed was 1998's Belgium GP, a spectacular crash but most importantly the passion you could feel through your television from this great man...from that day I've been hooked for 24 years to such a fantastic sport, thank you Murray...thank you.
Nobody could replicate Murray's voice. His was unique and made for his job. He was an amazing person and he gave us the voice we needed.
Forget V8, V10, or V12. Murray's voice was the only sound F1 needed to be great.
watch out mate, angry v10 fanboys are coming
What a legend. The voice of my childhood and the man who helped fuel my enthusiasm for the sport.
His voice is so iconic. On races there where iconic moments but his commentary made it even better and iconic.
Rest In Peace. Legend.
This truly made me tear up. I really wished I would've had the chance to meet him. Greetings from Finland, rest easy Murray. At least we still have Buxton, legend doing a tribute about another legend!
Rest in Peace Murray 😭 You were an amazing person and commentator with such a humble personality, who gave us the best laughs in the commentary booth. You will never be forgotten ❤
irreplaceable, he loved and was so passionate about his job. Rest In Peace Murray Walker! 🕊
Impossible to think where the art of Motorsport broadcasting would be today without him. One of the founding fathers of television coverage as you know it today and the blueprint for commentators across the world
Rest easy Murray Walker, you gave this sport the best voice it could have ever hoped to have
“With half the rest gone, there is till half the race to go”❤️
Captain, is that you?
I can imagine him up there now commenting, “there goes Bianchai on Hubert and Lauda is scraping away with Hunt and here comes Senna in the background now” ❤️❤️
What a brilliant and moving piece. The sound of my childhood. There will never be another like him. A true legend
You think of F1 and how you got hooked in by the action and the drama, when in reality it was Murray's excitable descriptions of the events that contributed so much. He will always be remembered.
I’m getting so emotional even though I didn’t grow up on this era but watching back on old races it’s so sad he contributed so much
No words can describe how brilliant Murray was, not just his career as a commentator in f1, his love and enthusiasm for motorsport in general shared with the audience. Nobody will ever match this mans passion and commitment.
I got into F1 in the 1990s and I for one would not have anywhere near the level of interest in it without Murray's passion. Such sad news. There will never be anyone like him.
Rest in peace Murray. I will never forget his words from the 2001 Malaysian grand prix (the race that got me into F1 and racing in general as a 6 year old) "Jos Verstappen is a fighter every inch of the way!" The way Murray took the fans along with his enthousiasm is something only a few commentators are gifted with. Lets hope he's commenting the great race in the sky from now on.
He wasn’t the voice of Formula 1 he was Formula 1 ❤️
That`s sad. - Will remember always his voice. Fans will always remember him.
I’m genuinely sad. It’s amazing how you feel like crying about someone you never knew personally (and who never knew you even existed) but it was so important for you at the same time. I truly sad
To me his greatest achievement wasn't his commentating, it was him just being a genuinely nice person, adored and respected by everyone. I can't think of anyone else being so close as a friend to everyone in F1. He'll go down in history, as the voice of Formula 1. Rest in Peace Murray, you'll be missed!
i'm italian and its hard to find so much passion and professional job in a commentator. he really put you in the seat, as an italian i felt so much his intense way of speaking f1 world. a legend of the sport, becausa he was the image of the passion we all have, from drivers, mechanics, organizators and spectators all over the world
This is a great tribute to someone who brings back so much nostalgia. I remember sitting down with my grandad on a Sunday after our lunch and watching F1, not having a clue what is happening but 6 year old me, spending time with my grandad, I couldn't have asked for anything else.
Thank you Mr. Walker. You will be missed by millions of fans
Brought tears to my eyes. What a great man. Absolute legend. For me the greatest motorsport commentator there’s ever been.
Rest in peace Murray
One of the most iconic voices of all time, rest in peace
He was the Sunday Afternoon Uncle in our house every week. We love you so much, everyone in my family is heartbroken.
Still miss his commentary to this day. Love watching the old clips with Murray, reminds me of when I watched F1 with my Dad as a kid. ❤️
Like that comment.
such sad news hearing of Murrays passing, as a kid growing up in the 90s murray was the reason why i got into F1 what a legend he was will always be remembered this is a very touching tribute x
The amount of people, bound by the shared experience of having Murray affect our lives so, is, really humbling.
I'm shedding tears reading the comments
Likewise my man.
Give the Beyond the Grid with him a listen. Definitely worth it.
One of my favorites is “VILLENEUVE FIGHTS, FIGHTS, FIGHTS AND RETAKES THE LEAD! FANTASTIC! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!

Thank you.
A beautiful tribute to the one true voice of Motorsport. Rest in peace, Murray Walker.
This man made many childhoods and future f1 drivers and champions childhoods, may he rest in piece. Let him rest commentating on the things he loved, which now includes His Life, Murray Walker 10th October 1923-13th March 2021.
I dont think anybody has ever disliked murray :(
But...Yet there are 42 dislikes
What a disgrace!
Thank you, Murray Walker, for being one reason why I have followed F1 for so long. Your voice and your passion made watching F1 so enthralling.
Murray’s untimely retirement and his passing, will always be sad for me until I pass away. Murray is F1; loud, exciting and passionate. He and my Grandfather were born within days of each other and losing Murray was like losing my Grandad again. He along with Damon Hill are two of F1’s characters I have always wanted to sit down with. I hope Murray’s spirit and mine’ll cross paths one day 🫡😔
Settling down to watch a F1 race it always felt like he was a friend bringing the excitement right into your front room and along with all those Murrayisms he was simply the best, thank you Murray, you have your place in F1 history firmly secured for ever... rest in peace.
20 years ago he was entering his final year as a full time commentator ... Feels like yesterday. Thank you Murray.
We gettin old as well mate...
Im genuinely really gutted he’s gone.
Sir Murray Walker, every time I hear his voice I get a lump in my throat. You are very much missed. Never before have i seen a man more respected.
It's really hard to accept it, most F1 clips I watch have Murray's voice, and he saw basically all the legends grow.
I just can't, it's really devastating.

Rest In Peace Murray Walker. You are an absolute Legend.
The respect in the comments is as heart warming as it comes. Let's all love as freely as He did
Murray was so wonderful. I remember when my brother and I were little we used to do F1 races with all our little toy cars and imitate the commentary style of Murray & James Hunt
Being in Australia as a boy I used to sneak out of bed in the middle of the night and turn on the TV, and I remember Murray made me cringe with his emotional commentary scared he would wake up my parents and give up the gig. Along with the drivers of the time, he MADE F1 part of so many people's lives. How can we ever forget what he did for each and every one of us, in our own special view of what he did so well?
