  • Caritas Founder & Director Lindsay Gray writes:
I’ve always loved the song ‘Cry me a river’ which was written by Arthur Hamilton and was first published in 1953 (a great year….). The song was written for Ella Fitzgerald, but was first released in 1955 by a former classmate of the composer, a singer named Julie London who rapidly rose to fame through the song.
In this arrangement I’ve sought to keep the harmonies as close as possible to those on the original Julie London recording; the tune is in the soprano part with the lower voices mainly providing an accompanying backing track.
The three short solo passages in the coda are sung by Sue Welch, Matthew Welch and Paul Rothwell respectively. The recording was made in the lovely chapel of Nazareth House, Cardiff, during an informal session on 10th May 2023.
I hope that you enjoy it!
    Lindsay
