So, if a plugin preset is being edited inside one track, that change will also apply to all other tracks the preset is being used in?
Or to rephrase that: Are on the fly edits to a preset, let's say Filter or resonance, recorded onto a track as well, or can a preset only be recorded in a fixed state?
I find that especially important when building a more ambient project, where I want sounds to evolve, by tweaking them while recording.

As for the first question - yes, all MIDI sequencers send midi information to a sound engine (a synth, plug-in and so on) and the sound heard is whatever sound is chosen on the synth/plug-in. There isn't any sound recorded on a midi track.
For the second question - yes, you can record filter, resonance and all sorts of automation information onto the midi track as well making the synth/plug-in change sound as you'd like
No, a preset doesn't need to be recorded in a fixed state. Since we're not recording audio here (which you also can do if you want to) the preset isn't fixed, but you can change the sound after you've recorded your take.

Hey great videos learning a lot from, thanks. One question, so say I go to the factory expansion drum kits and I mistakenly load a bunch instead of browsing and I only use one kit, is there anyway to erase them from the bottom plugin program/drum program part so there aren't a bunch I'm not using and only keep the one I am using? Thanks for the help

I was thinking about getting a MPC Key, but this video has me rethinking the idea. So only allowed 8 plugins, a plugin's setting are universal to the whole project that sounds like quite a limitation. In a DAW you could freeze a track to free up the resources it uses, doe the MPC have something similar?

Yes, the MPC allows you to do that as well.
