I'm so sorry you've been so ill, what awful timing too! But it's good that your manager has been nice about it. I have chronic illnesses too, and it partly affects my digestion, so I know what you mean about eating plain food. I tend to eat the same foods so it limits flare-ups, but gets boring. If you can tolerate sweet potatoes, I find they're more interesting than the regular ones and also keep me fuller for longer - I bake them in the oven. I find I can tolerate noodles instead of pasta. Rice noodles are quick and plain. During my flare-up I tend to eat a lot of peas as the only veg that doesn't upset me (pea soup for lunch all the time!). Also plain fish settles my stomach, as does peppermint tea. Hope you're feeling better soon and you can enjoy Christmas ... even though Boris has cancelled it!
