Thank you so much for your transparency and all the information I want to wish you best of luck on your journey. I hope all works out and congratulations on the baby.
If you’re thinking about going to Prime, ask if they have intermodal in your area. That’s what I did. You’re home every night, weekends and holidays off and you make 1600-1900 week before taxes. You can make more if you work Saturdays.
@ they only have company drivers for intermodal (at least in Chicago). It the pay is really good. I haven’t made less than $1400. That was on a holiday week. Had a day off. You still get paid $250 for the day off, but you miss revenue for the loads you would have made that day. It’s common to make $2k/week if you work Saturdays.
For new drivers starting out without bills as high as yours this is great pay. I can understand why you would rather go local/company. But for someone younger starting out this is great money. Everybody should just do what works for them at the end of the day
I feel like leasing would only be worth it is if it were lease to purchase because after you pay and feel like you’re getting company pay , you also made a truck payment for something you’re gonna own in 3 years .. I’m about to start trucking so I’m doing my research on everything. Congratulations on your baby brother and wish you the best in whatever decision you make for your future ❤️🙏🏼 god bless !!!!
He ain’t lying. I made 60k so far this year as a company driver after taxes and 401k. I put around 7.5k in my 401k and prime matches. Plus I get back 7.5k when I file taxes.
You ever considered Sprinter Van Expediting? Those guys make about $5000/week and go home whenever they want because it's their van. Most of those guys don't have cdl.. with your cdl you would have access to more loads
Bro I feel you 100%. My lowest pay from Prime $243. Long story short, I left within a month. I had to tap into my savings and spent nearly 4k out of it.
Just a general comment on leasing with a mega carrier...if you cant 1. Picm and choose your own loads, or 2, and more important, pick your own loads OUTSIDE of the carrier, why in the world would anyone sign a lease?
It was great money to start back in 22 I was making $2500-3k a week take home plus I needed my CDL but now they have so many drivers they have full control and we are completely getting takin advantage of
When someone says they “make” a certain amount, it’s generally understood that it’s a before tax number, because taxes vary. Also S-Corp election is the smart way to go, but you don’t HAVE to do it that way. You can choose to have your LLC essentially be treated as a sole proprietorship, and I can easily see someone making 100k there. You won’t even be that far away doing it your way. They would pay more in taxes, but technically “make 100k”. Just saying, it’s definitely not impossible.
I don’t know if you’re in a straight lease or lease purchase. If you are going to own the truck in the end, you have to take that value into consideration. If just a straight lease, yeah, you have “freedom” with company pay currently. I work for a company out of Indy. 29% of the load. I’m W2. I don’t pay for anything. I’m refer. And I’m averaging $1,800 a week. I choose to only go home for 1-2 weeks every 10-12 weeks. 2023 Cascadia with a dinette. Easy to work for people is one of the best aspects to me. Good luck with whatever you choose!
Thank you , yea I lease not buying a truck that depreciates also this market is trash to even consider to do that. W-2 local is the only way to go for me
@@ritchierich565 yes. Solo. “Out and back” typically do a local dry van run or two before going “out” again. We have a regional dry van division. I’m in refer.
I think the only way this deal would work is if you were single (or husband and wife team) and went home only on T day and Christmas. If you actually lived in the truck you'd probably do just fine. ....who wants to live like that.
also u shudnt put any money into a company escrow. its always a pain in tha dicc to get it bacc. ur business account id your escrow and maintence fund.
I think about leaving everyday 😂.... however started training lately combined with firing abacus... I'm doing good now... still thinking about leaving next year
At prime you almost make as much money being a RUclipsr and recruiter for them putting out how great it is there it's all about getting referral bonus$$$and being popular at the terminal and having these wide-eyed clueless bastards wanting to shake your hand😂😂😂
@@Da_Durt I doubt it. Been together 20 years already. And I don't believe in marriage marriage is for idiot men. But if you have a woman that would leave you for those reasons then I see divorce in your future next time pick wisely

Thanks for your insights. Really appreciate you being candid and not sugar coating the way these other Prime drivers keep doing.
You’re welcome
You're the man with the real numbers I've been looking for. Thank you!
No problem!
I respect you for giving us honesty, thank you 💪🏾
I appreciate that all I can do 👍
Finally an honest breakdown and review of the so call “Best truck company to lease with “ sad so many will be disappointed.
Except for the low income earners that’s a win for them.
Best!

Prime is a company to get your cdl, get your year of experience then bounce to a better gig. Never understood the guys that stay there for years
Prime pays well.
Why do you feel that way?
Thx for giving us honesty

Had someone at prime tell me they’re making 12k a week after taxes. I SAID CAPP!!!!!!! People in the orientation room started arguing with me
Recently ? That’s insane lie brother you know better
It makes absolutely no sense to be out all the time fighting with lease issues for company pay....smart move.

I'm leaving in October, baby on the way too. Prime has starved us out, literally making what a company driver would make
