If you have installed kali linux on an VMWare workstation or even on your physical machine and you face issues with respect to network. You may try the steps mentioned in the tutorial to troubleshoot network related issues. In generally when you install kali on a physical machine as primary or secondary OS, you may face issues with Ethernet adapter due to its default configuration set. In this tutorial we will together learn how to resolve such issues.

Resolution Procedure :

✔️Procedure 1: Install Kali Linux on a machine. Please refer to Rogue Vault tutorial below on installing Kali Linux on a virtual machine,
• How to Install Kali Li...
✔️Procedure 2: Now navigate to the “etc” folder on your kali linux
Open folder -- Navigate to File system on left -- Then open etc folder on your right -- Find the Network Manager Folder and open it
Rootkali:/etc/NetworkManger#
✔️Procedure 3: Edit the file NetworkManager.conf inside the NetworkManager Directory
Rootkali:/etc/NetworkManger# nano NetworkManager.conf
✔️Procedure 4: Change the value of
[ifdown]
Managed=false to true (Ensure the default value is changed from False to True) Save & Exit
✔️Procedure 5: On the terminal and type the below command to complete the troubleshooting steps
Service network-manager restart
You will find your network adapter disconnecting and connecting back. This way it is confirmed that the service has been restarted.
Now your network issues would have been resolved

If "service network-manager restart "doesn't works at least not in my case try with "service NetworkManager restart" instead.Thanks for the videos dude,great job!

I am running Kali Linux 2022.2 the "service network-manager restart" is actually "service NetworkManager restart" It still didn't work either as wired or wireless.
After doing all that and typing in the command to restart the network manager, it tells me that the network manager service isnt found, what do I need to do to fix this?

Yes, because it is a pre-connection attack that doesn't really need a network.

Does it show wired connected in the top right corner?
Also, check if the machine is connected to NAT NETWORK and not NAT only.

Network address translation for virtual networks. vmware NAT Services - Start it on windows ofcourse . I don't know if u need to shutdown virtual machine.

But then we don't need to close the VM to switch between Bridged Mode and Nat Mode

I have the problem of not getting any APs from doing airodump-ng wlan0mon.
It shows me that I have a station that is not associated,but nothing else.
I use the compat-wireless command to get wlan0 and in Network I set it to NAT Network.

Hi. Recently downloaded kali Linux 2020.1 and I chose to skip setting up network in beginning. Now I don’t know how to set it up. When running ifconfig I can only see lo. I can not see wlan0 or eth0. I tried this but it still didn’t work. I am working from a laptop that is in dual boot with windows 10. Any help will be appreciated!
In Network Connections now it shows Ethernet ifupdown (eth0) but I cant connect to anything. Don’t know what to do and pretty frustrated.

Please try and restart your network manager : service network manager Stop & then service network manager Start (or) service network manager restart
or may be your router is in monitor mode
if your router is in monitor mode then change it by command → airmon-ng stop mon0
Please do restart the os post doing all the changes

I have installed kali on external hardrive and when I use it on my laptop i cannot enable wifi and connect to internet . However when I use it in a desktop it is enabled .
How to enable wifi in my laptop?
If in the laptop if you have inbuilt WIFI card you may have to install the driver for it manually like - ruclips.net/video/aXagM9G_nFE/видео.html
You may need to use external wifi card for any activity in kali as internals are not supportive with the os.

@@RogueVault I'm using external wifi adapter with realtek 8187L chipset. Wifi remain disabled when I run it on a laptop, however on a desktop I can enable and connect it to wifi .
Also when i do ifconfig on laptop I can see wlan0 . But wifi still remains disabled. It's a strange behaviour

This depends. If your kali is supporting and you are able to configure the internal adapter successfully then you can. But still the chip-set plays important role as not all USB based wifi adapter will support monitor mode
