In today's video, Peter from The Basement tries Majora's Mask for the very first time. He'll have some help from Ted, who has played Majora's Mask (and beaten Majora's Mask), but not TOO much help!

The sad tree is the son of the butler at the deku palace. His son went missing. He either died on his own or skull kid killed him. Either way, skull kid probably fused his soul with yours to turn you into the deku scrub.
The skull kid killed him and used his soul to turn Link into a deli scrub.
Yeah, the theory I was referring to is whether or not Skull Kid killed the scrub in the first place. I personally think he didn't - as you see a pretty linear progression of evil from Skull Kid as he goes from being mischievous at first to eventually murderous. It wouldn't fit that timeline of corruption by the mask for Skull Kid to have killed the scrub. But then the question is... how did the scrub die?

This is the only way I will watch a Majora’s Mask walkthrough. It’s too creepy to watch someone playing seriously…and I 100% mean that as a compliment!! Y’all are awesome. :D

9:52 Without giving too much away, the theory is that the tree is another character cursed by the Skull Kid, and is the son of a particular character you will meet later.

What Peter needs to know about Termina: it’s a world of sadness and depression, a world of stress and anxiety, a world of death and sorrow. This is one of the saddest games you will ever play. I hope you know that. Also HYPE for this series! I’m so glad you guys are finally getting the this game, also glad Peter remembers Oot because you need that. It would be cool if you played the 3DS remake with Henriki Magnifico’s HD texture pack and Project Restoration but this is great too! Also will this end up on BLP?

It's rare to see someone that hasn't played this game. I always enjoy watching people play it for the first time and seeing the new reactions. Hope you have fun with the rest of the game
Its not a theory, it gets confirmation in the credits, the masks you get have the souls of the people that leave them behind, you become them when you wear them, so that deku scrub must've come from somewhere...
The fairies had an interesting naming convention that I've never seen anyone mention.
The one that joins you is Tatl (white)
The one with Skull Kid is Tael (purple)
So before she got separated from the group, it was Tatl, tael and skull kid

True story, I actually waited like 10 minutes on Skull kid playing the Ocarina before I realized I could hit A as a kid. Man I was dumb af back then

I tried playing at a friend's house but got frustrated with the mechanic of the game so never progressed in it.
This looks like it will be a fun series!
Not the poor deku scrub child 😭 he's the one that skull kid unalived in order to turn you into a Deku scrub. All transformation masks are the souls of the dead who you turn into. In the credits, you see the butler crying in front of that scrubs husk and when you met him in the palace, he said that you reminded him of his son
Oh snap! I (Ted) forgot about that... That you see him crying.
@@The8asement it really stuck out to me the first time i watched the credits because the whole concept of them is showing you all the people you helped being happy and then there's just him crying
The sad part of it all is, no matter what you do in the game, you can never save the Deku butler's son...😔
Started this over so I could play along. Glad I got past you in this first sessioon but already had to look up a guide for a part you haven't gotten to yet... I'll let you know when you're there lol! I tried this game once before and quit due to getting stuck. Gotta say I don't like the controls, but I highly enjoy the grit of this game!
oh my gosh! Look at how pixelated it is! Botw has come a really long way since then! Loving the video guys, as always!
The N64 Zeldas have still aged really well though,Ocarina still looks great tbh

Pretty much that Deku tree is a is it dead Deku shrub that died in the woods and is still there and Link's new form turns into a mask which is the dead Deku shrubs soul.

The deku butlers son got killed by skull kid and you can see him crying at his dead son in the credits
So there’s an obvious pronunciation for the fairy siblings’ names Tatl and Tael that together makes “Tattletale” , or you go could more Eastern and get a “Tay-el” or “Tah-el”…but Ted goes straight upper northern Midwesterner with the “Taaaaaaaaaa-el” like he started to say tag and then veered off course. :)

I have tried to play this game but I got stuck at the first task and then my DS died and i just gave up 🥲
