Technically Godzilla won 8 Oscars, if you include Oppenheimer as the prequel!
I legit loved the fact that Godzilla picked up best VFX
@@scottmanleyGodzilla Minus One, Oscar winning movie you can't watch. What a time to be alive.
HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH
THATS FUNNY
HAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHA
@@alttabby3633I saw it twice. It was a great story.
Didn't watch the Oscars, and didn't watch ANY of the shows involved, win OR lose.
I'm SO DONE with the Propaganda.
I was 16 when Voyager 1 launched. It passed through the Heliopause and into interstellar space 12 years ago. Now it’s talking garbage, so it’s dead? Leave the little guy alone! It’s just going senile, like me. But it ain’t bloody dead. Also just like me…
Keep going fella!
I believe its just sending zeroes.
Voyager 1 as a consolidated but inert body will outlive everything in the solar system. So will Voyager 2 and New Horizons.
@@freeculture Sometimes I just send Zs, doesn't mean I'm dead.
When you think of how long it was designed to last really it was like a person being active on its 300th birthday - Good Job Little Fellow You are the Best of Them.
Very old and becoming incoherent, but still making more sense than Donald Trump. 😄
"Rockets over Casablanca" sounds like a mid-00's indie band
I saw them when they were unknown. Small roadside club that seats 30.
Decent chicken wings, bad furniture, rocking music.
Maybe depends on the generation. Several people see at these words Humphrey Bogart on a rainy rocket launch area.
"I think this is the begining of a beautiful launch program." [Fades out, music swells.]
007: Rockets Over Casablana
I'm down for that!
I feel like the open source community would build a Voyager simulator pretty quickly if NASA released all the info and then someone told the community that it wasn't possible to do 😀
I mean just look at Curious Marc and his crew with their AGC restoration etc. It's surely possible.
call it a leak. "this download holds the truth NASA doesn't want you to know about Voyager's systems".
NASA and JPL: "We'll pick it up, once the flaming about which flavor of UNIX is best has died down."
@jpdemer5 That could be awhile. 😊
I believe the problem is that they don't have much if any useful documentation left and all the engineers that designed it are dead already.
Voyager is the Betty White of spacecraft. Beloved by multiple generations.
"Shower head" and "PEZ dispenser" had me chuckling while I had this playing in the background
5:51 "Frequent travel required"
Remote Work: I SHOULD HOPE NOT
We regret to inform you that mileage-based travel reimbursements are not included in the remuneration package.
... "if you're lucky!"
@@peterford5408 They're included, but at a rate of $0.0001 per mile. (A year in orbit gets you about $15k ... which ain't bad if you consider that lodging - with great views - and meals are included.)
@@jpdemer5 The system I'm most familiar with is £0.45/mile for the first 10k miles per year, and £0.25/mile beyond that. The astronauts trade union shouldn't accept anything less!

Portugal's spaceport is being built in the Azores in mid-atlantic, i guess you can still make it to Casablanca from there for geostationary, but probably most of them will be aiming at sun-synchronous orbits, i guess?
That was quite the hug they greeted with on the ISS 😊

😂
🤣🤣🤣
I see Cybertruck at 13:48 ?
10:07 “…because of parking issues at the International Space Station…” is just the most hilarious sentence ever, I’m so cracked up from that 😂😂😂
sadly the station is aging and Russia is pulling out so we wont see things like new dockingmodules that can seat more vehicles at the same time.
A good Douglass Adams sentence if I ever heard one.
@@melvixen1943 I doubt they'll ever de-orbit the ISS if they don't have to, she's a beautiful training station. Keeping her flying will be the right of passage to all new astronaut graduates.
If Starship becomes operational and has sufficient cost reductions, it may be possible to return some part(s) of ISS to Earth to study and/or refurbish.
The two SpaceLab modules that NASA used on SpaceShuttle missions (anchored in payload bay) have be sold to private enterprises to be upgraded to become modules of commercial space stations. Axiom Space is one of these commercial space station project. The other possibility is some of ISS modules could be reconfigured, or moved to another space station if a space tub was available. They have value for commercial space activities. Not to mention ESA and Japan both have their own modules.
Surprised JPL didn't reach out to @CuriousMarc and his team (Mike, Master Ken, et al.) to build a voyager simulation. Mike did build a hardware-level FPGA of both the AGC and the AGC test system. Mike needed the test frame to test that his AGC simulation worked the same as a real AGC.
I wouldn't be surprised someone who works there would see your comment and go "🤔"
I suspect that a lot of the original design documentation has gone missing so it is a case of being unable to build an accurate simulation rather than not wanting to.
Some day soon we're going to be watching Scott tell us details from the new crewed landing on the moon. A good future to be sure.
Hopefully Mars! Someday.
I can’t look at that Kodiak site without seeing a rocket flying sideways now.
I applied for the first group on the Shuttle. I made it through the first cut down to one of several thousand applicant’s and then got a nice thank you, but no from NASA. Apparently spending 6 years to get a 4 year degree with a solid C average isn’t good enough.

Have yourself put in stasis until 2505 and when you wake up that degree will be worth its weight in gold - nobody else will have one!
NASA (to Boeing): Something broke on your space ship.
Boeing Engineer: Was it the door?
Cheers Scott. Always happy to see new videos from you. Thank you and fly safe.
Hi from Portugal 😉 Portugal is trying to build a space port in the Azores, the Space Rider from ESA will land in the Azores
Hi Scott; 5:40 Astronaut Candidate Application - I applied for that last time around, knowing I would get rejected as I live in the south of Scotland, and because the rocket would have to be twice the size. But I keep the acknowledgement email anyway. Impressed not a single microorganism.
Haha true, the Rocket Equation does not look favourably upon us People of Size (AKA lard arses)!
@@peterford5408on the other hand 51st state, so that wouldn’t be a problem. 😂

Thanks for the update, Scott.

So excited for this starship launch! Third times the charm!
Let's hope it works. They've burned through all their funding so far
Just another 5 months and we'll be back playing moon golf again 🤪
Starship is the only good thing to come out of this year
@@BESTISD I couldn't agree more!
@@jacoby6000really? I dont thinks so.
It was great to get some Blue Origin insights from the 60 Minutes piece. They, however, seemed to hint that Starship HLS was behind schedule. The Apollo Lunar Module first (earth orbit) flight test was only 4 months prior to the first landing.
Yeah, 60 minutes seem to have some beef with SpaceX (and sloths).
Class 23 is important for some of us as it has Marcos Berrios, the Second Puertorican astronaut 🇵🇷
Thanks for another fantastic update!
I really hope they can capture the starship re-entering, I mean in the unlikely event that it doesn't explode on its way to orbit, so we can see it explode as it re-enters. Or at least break up, since it's unlikely they've solved the heat shield tiles falling off at launch.
I wonder whether they can actually get cameras to the Indian ocean to capture the end of the entry. I tried to find photos of the space shuttle with glowing heat shield, but they seem all be fake. At best we'll get in board cameras.
I don't think it's unlikely it'll get to orbit. Last flight it made it pretty close. Definitely not guaranteed, but I think it's got a fair shot.
Thanks Scott! I really appreciate your space news videos!
Hello Sir Manley... now watching for my 3rd time... Your efforts always give me so much to think about so i watch 3 times back to back... Thank you Sir Scott Manley !!
Great video, Scott...👍
"Space adjacent" is a very nice way of saying "just below 100km altitude". 😂

13:38 the SP was a while ago, it’s now fully stacked with FTS onboard
Woo! Scott on the BBC!
Love your channel!!!
Love you dude. You hit some key points on this one.
Always an enthusiast! 😊
Thank you very much. Great as always! By the way: these days I've been amazed at the tethered satellites and what can be done with them. Among other things, energy production is a very interesting topic, as is using it as a skyhook (only knew this as a way for spies to escape with planes, but now saw that it also exists in space travel, as a method to speed up vehicles or satellites. Look also space tether: I was wondering if the space tether simply got stuck on the Agena Target Docking Vehicle in 1966? Wouldn't that be particularly dangerous in terms of collisions due to its size? Well, there was probably more space up there back then...).
On this occasion, thank you very much for all the great videos about satellites. Of course and really really like it!
"localized methane emissions" sounds like my family's reunion picnic
Live right up the road. They are going to be shutting down the road to Fossil Beach in a couple days.
You went there - "Heavens to Murgatroyd" 😮 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Happy to see flags on left shoulders. Not a fan of mirrored flags on right shoulders. 😇

Titans of CNC were able to do a walkthrough awhile ago of blue origin’s manufacturing facility. Interesting video to see how the sausage is made
YEEEESSSS go Portugal...😀😀😀
Fwiw, the Titans of CNC channel did a full tour of Blue Origin. You can turn it into a drinking game for each time the guy says 550,000 square feet.
I’m so happy to see so many of our friends in the international community pooling resources to make space easier to access for people of all nations! ❤
its about time 🎉

at 11:48 Ursa Major mentioned, with Stratolaunch. That test stand video reminded me of Virgin Orbit's stands at Mojave. Mentioned they (SL or UM?) bought VO's Cosmic Girl (just the plane or the Mojave properties)? Loved VO, hope all their stuff gets put to good use.
This rocket is small ..... but that rocket is faaarrr away :)
It boggles my mind that they no longer have a Voyager 1 simulator.
I'm guessing they'd need a hardware based simulator? Not many people running computers whose design were incepted in 1972.
Scott, thanks for the video. What about the Oklahoma City siding? What rocket was that and they can’t seem to figure it out. But I bet you can.
It's time for Portugal to explore space just like we did the oceans 500 years ago!
Azumanga Daioh tickling the demon core?

@@WWeronko yeah I am.
@@jamesharding3459 at least SpaceX hasn’t screwed up two capsules within the same time span Boeing did with Orion & Starliner. Also ‘26 or ‘27 we’ll hopefully see a crewed launch of Starship or at least the HLS version of it
I am sorry to hear that. I wish you the best.
Hey Scott Manley what are your thoughts of a “blown wing” blimp I think that it would solve the ballast issue for cargo, and that the fact that it had a larger area than just a conventional wing, allows it to have a higher potential lifting force
0:14 "Oops, all Falcon 9s"
Awaiting analysis!!!!!!!!
3:54 This is the 3rd video I've seen that has shown that "hug" haha!!. The other 2 were Marcus House and NASASpaceflight.
Blue Origin (who has NEVER had an orbital flight) plans to launch their lunar cargo mission in 12 to 16 months. Yeah, that seems a bit more optimistic than realistic.
I love your posts, Scott! It makes me feel better when people call me a 'space cadet!!'
I wonder what the Cosmonaut makes of the shiny Dragon compared with the comparatively ancient Soyuz?
At the very least likes not having to sit in the lap of the guy next to him.
Soyuz has been reliable since what, 1968? 50 years of not shiny. mmm. I don't care how shiny. I'd prefer reliable! heh!
@@lukebrennan5780Dragon has been 100% reliable so far. I have no doubt it'll build a reputation of reliability on par with Souyouz with time.
Im gonna be nervous about that hatch seal until splashdown

Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
@scottmanley When are you submitting your astronaut application?
13:38 the SP was a while ago, it’s now fully stacked with FTS onboard
14:22 the full stack won’t return as one, it will be two vehicles upon reentry
Nice
Is there any idea on the estimated tonnage of fuel left at separation and boost back.
2 launch under 2 hours ? Thas insane, yes its 2 location, but its still alot to managd 😎
Can I just say that I appreciate your avoidance of politics on your channel. Thank you!
If Starship does launch on Pi Day, they should include a case of freeze-dried astronaut pies in the cargo hold. 🤣🥧
With Polaris dawn working on on-orbit dragon depressurization and Starship-Dragon dockings coming soon, do we see replacement door seals either being flown with each flight or being sent to ISS? The seals always seem to be a finicky item.
4:00 Some NSFW action going down on the ISS.
Maybe they're fans of Episode 1 of The Expanse. 😁
And some people say sex in orbit won't be possible. I'm not casting aspersions on these three, it apparently takes a special technique to hug in space, but this sure as hell looks like making the beast with two backs is very possible.
The background at 10:35 made me go "what???"
The weather is moving toward rain in S Texas later this week.
Oh goody! Maybe a new version of Lord of the Flys?
Christina Birch is the Lord of the Flies. (Well, technically she is referred to as the 'Class Lead'.)
Nice review of all that's going on. As always.
On the subject of Voyager 1, perhaps they should turn the heater back on when requesting transmissions. I mean the computers started sending garbage right after they turned the heat off. Duhhh!!
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe. Everyone!
Yeah. If it's really dying , why not turn everything back on , or at least the camera , and try for one final hurrah .
I was thinking the same, but they might have to sacrifice another instrument to reduce the risk of crashing the flight computer from too low voltage. Also, there was a voltage reg that was disabled recently as well that might be a factor. I can't recall the exact reason they did that other than power saving.
Should send up 100 tons of pie with Starship, then recover and sell them, to make the test profitable.
Bonus points for baking them with the re-entry heat.
May be time for a spring cleaning of the office. There may be some pringles cans hidden out of view?
Fly Safe 🖖
Voyager isnt dead, it just took its first step to become V'ger.
Did anyone see the reentry footage from Varda? It's on YT
Yes, Scott mentioned it in a recent video, and I went and looked it up.
Talon had a commanded RUD. Violated destruct criteria - crossed an imposed destruct line.
So what's up with the Voyager simulator? Was it written in FORTRAN or some other 70s format they can't support or emulate? How hard would it be to write a new one? Or is it a hardware simulator that can't be fixed due to lack of old parts stock?
The Dragon hatch seal problem was also minimally worrisome because it wasn't even the main seal.
For the last time, you didn't need to launch a satellite looking for methane emissions. I said I'm sorry multiple times and I will be controlling my dairy and bean intake in the future.
I'm not sure I want to know any more about these "extraction operations" he mentioned now
I feel I deserve a S&M DIPLOMA for listening to Scott Manley. It's just enough brain torture and entertaining pain to justify a bachelor's degree !😅
Why didn’t they give Scott an Oscar for his Deep Space Updates 😔

I think he applied for both the Inspiration 4 and Dear Moon missions, but was rejected.
He wanted to apply for Dear Moon, but missed the deadline.
Damn that astronaut list of qualifications. I guess the only way id ever get my dream to go into space is by winning a billion dollar plus Powerball drawing and buying a seat to go up there. 😢 Which that'll never happen either.
