Billy was an inspiration to all who knew him and his music. I was lucky enough to know him and he will never be forgotten. No one sings like him and his music was way ahead of it's time.
I am in the midwest (Kansas City) and I never had the pleasure of seeing the Associates live. In fact I never even saw a video performance until a couple weeks ago. Gosh, I'm so grateful for youtube. These Billy Mackenzie treasures are very special for sure. What a tremendous talent and individual. I regret his passing and remember him in my prayers. Rest in peace sweet Billy. And thanks for posting this too.
I felt so in awe of Billy when in my youth. I felt so humbled today finding all of his work on you tube and interviews and saddened by his death, Yes and the piano in this is so sensitive, what pianos were made for truly is to touch us like in this piece. I wish for more.
talented beyond being fair..put so much into a song and made it sound truly wonderfull with what seems like very little effort be it a dance track or a slower love song.....those first impressions they keep us guessing...sleep well billy x.
43 year old bloke here, who can't watch these clips without tears in his eyes i saw him live twice, but obviously, THIS is the concert i would have happily sold my grandmother into slavery to have been at.
Thanx! Another great song! Wish I new more about him! Is it true that when he got dropped off his record label & he got a taxi & said, take me home mate!? bak up 2 scotland & charged it 2 the record company?
@mring111 Duh... if this footage says: Ronnie Scotts 1984 and Boy George/Pet Shop Boys released their version some 8 years later, then how could this be a Boy George cover? Still... it is a cover nevertheless... Written by Geoff Stephens and originally recorded by Dave Berry in '64... Prior to the Pet Shop Boys ft. Boy George, this has been covered by many, many, many people... Nina Simone, Brenda Lee, Peggy Lee, Elkie Brooks and many, many, many more...

RIP Billy Mac
This was eight years before Boy George's version, and twenty years after Dave Berry. Brenda Lee and Percy Sledge also recorded it.

Billy and Alan. Who needed Paul and John?
dave berry had a no 1 in 1964 with this song.
@sulk100 I agree whole heartedly sulk, he has a fab voice and was fit as anything!
Sublime
A raw, and undisciplined voice, but nevertheless, something compelling about him.......loved Party Fears 2............
beautiful. its beyond me how anyone could prefer Boy George's version, there is zero emotion in it! they obviously dont appreciate rare talent
Your a true fan of a Great Man.....
Great footage.
THANK YOU
