I'm 6 weeks post op from a flexor tendon and nerve repair to my pinky in zone two. FDS, FDP, and nerve were all repaired. I started passive motion at 2 weeks. At 4 weeks I started FFPH. I can only hold the fist at my MP joint and the finger pops up from there when trying to hold. I was also working on stretching to the back on my splint. I'm not sure I should of done this but I stretched my wrist and finger out straight a few days before week 6 post op. I can no longer feel any resistance when straightening out my finger. My doctor claims my tendon is still in tact but this lack of resistance has got me worried. I can't bend my pip and dip joints at all at this point but I do feel my finger trying when the MP is blocked but it just feels like I'm pushing against a wall and the finger will wiggle a bit when blocked. Is there any hope to increasing my ROM? What steps would you personally take from here? My OT is very old school and doesn't provide me with much information.
Flexor tendon lacerations and repairs are very hard - I'm sure you know that already. It's extremely difficult and not realistic for me to give real medical advice over RUclips. It sounds to me that if you don't trust your therapist, it's time to seek a new one out. Ask your therapist these questions that you ask here - and if you are not given answers, find a Certified Hand Therapist in your local area via zip code. www. htcc.org 6 weeks is still early but there are ways to check on the tendon and progress. There's nothing wrong with getting second opinions. Good luck!
@@HandTherapySecrets0 Thanks for the quick response! I unfortunately live in a rural area so I only have one option for a therapist in my immediate area. I'd have to travel an hour+ to have a different one which just isn't realistic for me. I've thought about tele therapy but I'm not sure that's even a thing. I'm just hoping to make some noticeable improvement in the next few weeks and was hoping I was on the right track to do so. Thanks again for your reply!
