    Just saw your video! Great info, thanks. The reason why recording is NOT turned on by default is because, anyone non-tech savvy exploring the camera accidentally records themselves or their family members when improperly dressed could lead to privacy issue. To avoid the hassle of dealing all lawsuits, Wyze’s policy is explicitly asking user to initiate recording after they are conscious of their surroundings. This is my understanding :)

    Thank you for this videoI It was very helpful and has made my choice easy! I was looking in to baby monitors but it was too complicated.. I needed a camera for when I go away to make sure no doors are being left open, my cats will be getting taken care of. I needed a camera for peace of mind so I count 3 cats before I go to sleep LOL and its awesome I can speak through the microphone! So excited to order 2 of these

      Kinda random to say but I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels like this with their cats! I have 3 also and I always do a head count when I leave and come back 😭 part of the reason why I’m looking into security cameras, for a peace of mind!

    Can it be used to monitor the front area of house and as a 2-way communication and not record since I already have Lorex 8K security cameras. I would have to use the WTZE app to use the 2-way communication. The App free to use it for communications?

      It's actually 5volts , it uses any USB adapter from any power outlet or even a power Bank or battery with a USB adapter for remote locations! Except that you still need some WiFi reception!

    I'm thinking of using this in the kitchen. We have small shopping list blackboard/chalkboard on the wall. Will be really convenient to check on the hand-written list when on the go! (yes, i prefer an analog blackboard shopping list over a phone app) :)

    My location requires me to hand the camera up side down from ceiling is there a setting on the app to change the orientation thanks in advance

      Good question. In Advanced Settings there is the option to Rotate 180 degrees.

    I know this isn't what you are reviewing here but I'm looking at the Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 for my parents, as my dad wants a wireless/battery-powered camera with recording & notifications and Wyze seems to be the cheapest option of the well-known/well-reviewed security camera companies. I'm really only familiar with Ring but I don't think he wants to pay the higher prices to buy the Ring prices. So, I am leaning towards Wyze to save him some money.

      Hi Sammie, I didn’t have this one outside during the winter. I was using it mainly as an indoor camera. But I can try it out this winter. If you’re looking for something very durable for outdoors, I have been using rRng cameras outside in Calgary for many years without any major issues.

    I don’t even need to watch the video. I have five Wyze pan cams in my house. And I can tell you that they are not worth the money simply based on the absolute nightmare of Customer Service, whether or not you have a subscription, half the time the video doesn’t upload to the cloud and all you get is a snapshot so you can’t tell what actually happened; the sound quality is absolute garbage. Someone could be standing right next to the camera discussing how they were going to murder you, but it sounds like somebody is standing next to Niagara Falls discussing your murder instead.
    I have subscription for the cam plus on every camera but every time they do some kind of upgrade it causes my cameras to crap out. I have one that reboots randomly and repeatedly for no reason and they can’t tell me why.
    Christmas before last, we had one aimed at our front porch That decided to stop recording entirely. Why was this a big deal? Because someone stole my son‘s brand new runner sled that his grandmother got him for Christmas cost about $200. We have no way to prove that it was stolen because the camera didn’t record anything. Just stopped. And there’s never any indication when the cameras have stopped recording. They look normal. If you go into the app to view from the camera, everything looks normal. The only way you notice that it’s not recording is if you look under the events.
    But typically, you don’t look at the events unless you’re actually looking for something. So this particular camera had not recorded anything for over a week and we didn’t discover it until after the sled was stolen.
    And here’s where the crap of Customer service comes in. You cannot, CAN NOT speak to a manager. The only way you can communicate with the manager is through email. That’s what they told me. I was on the phone for hours with the regular customer service people trying to get some kind of resolution to the fact that their “security,“ camera did not provide any security nor do we have any recourse with the police or insurance companies because we have no footage of the theft.
    All in all, sled is gone, no compensation, no apology; and I already have so much invested in the cameras that I can’t afford to buy other ones.
    If you want a good camera, go get an Arlo. My only criticism of the Arlo that I had before was that they don’t pan. That is 75% of the reason why I went with a Wyze cams because they panned. They were less expensive than other panning cameras and so I got them.
    At first, everything seemed fine until the continuous, never ending problems started and you can’t get any help from Customer Service.
    They constantly try to blame it on your own Internet or some other factor that divert the fault away from themselves and they don’t do anything. Their standard answer is to set the camera back to factory and start over and reboot your Internet. That’s their solve all for everything.
    No, I cannot say enough bad crap about the Wyze cam‘s. Other people may have had wonderful experiences, and if I had only had problems with one camera or maybe two it would be different. This is all the cameras with all the subscriptions all the time. Constantly having to power cycle them to make sure that they’re always recording.

      I can’t remember with this one specifically, but many cameras do you have the option for you to digitally correct upside down framing inside the app.

    Ive been using the pan camera. So when its running neutral theres a blue light. But when someone is watching the video theres a red light that turns on. My red light kept turning on. Someone was watching us remotely. I started to do my research and alot of people have this problem. Its a very easily hacked camera. Other than that its good cam. Just be mindful someone will be watching you.

    The catch- I had a guy break in and could barely see any identifiable features. Tattoos were blurred. It was just 8-10 ft from the camera. Veery disappointing "HD" it's looks more like resolution at best 360.

    The audio playback is awful. I can't understand what is being said even when vouce is 2 ft. from the cameras. I have 4 of the V3 and the audio is low, garbled & lots of white noise in background. My Ring doorbell cam can pick up voices from 75 ft away.

    They came out a newer model. But how silly it is not V4.
    Wyze called it a V3 pro and then you got to shell out for money for 5 years! If u do the math, they are not cheap with 6.

    I am not happy because I have 3 cameras error 90 in the same time the rest work. 4 plugs and 2 light bulbs that I can't use because only 4G not 5G connection. No more Wyze for me or my family.

    I purchased 3 Cams V3 less than two years ago! At the beginning they worked nicely but after several firmware updates now Cams are pretty much useless because they went off line!! I forced flash the firmware to previous versions and finally one of those firmware worked and Cams got back on line but now I have a issue with playback!! Cams shows activity but when I try to watch them I get "Operation failed" error! tried to get support from Wyze so called wizards but all they do cut & paste! So forget about this company! I guess you get what you paid for☹

    I'll tell you what the catch is. The audio quality is horrendous! All of my Wyze Cams v3 have very bad staticky audio and you can't understand a single word.

    Person detection is worthless! I have 3 of these things. I got a free trial of Cam Plus, and I'm glad I did because it's useless! If I walk out to my car, it doesn't pick me up at all. The video only shows my car pulling out. So if someone was stealing my car, all I would have is a nice video of my car pulling out. Not the person that stole it. It will detect people, but the lag time it takes to do it, makes it worthless. If I walk out to my car as I normally would, and get in, it doesn't detect me at all. Just the car leaving.
