You know that thing in baseball where a pitcher hits a star player with a 95mph fastball? What happens next? The other team's star player gets pegged with a heater. This is the message that needs to be sent in the NFL. You hit my teammate in a dirty way like this, we're gonna take it out on your guy. Stroud shoulda felt pure fear walking back onto that field and he shoulda been mad at his teammate for it. Once that unwritten rule is agreed upon by everyone, plays like this will stop happening. At the end of the day, the slide needs to be reworked. QBs used to slide head first and they'd end up with back injuries cuz defenders would hit them late so that's where the slide came into play. Defenders have learned to not go at anyone that's given themselves up that way. I can see that they get it. And the back injury numbers should reflect that. I don't have the answer but the slide has led to dozens of severe concussions and faking that motion can be manipulated into handcuffing defenders, which is bad for the game. This needs to be addressed big time this off season.

No different than combat sports. But with all the new research and developments on player’s health, the game has to change and that kills what it was designed to be.
This is kind of sickening how the players union do not defend how the player and the defendant are going at it when you are a big Target I'm ashamed on the NFL and the players
He is right mahomes acts like he is running out of bounds and Def players let up
He said give time to slide lol that statement is crazy how do you give a player time to make a decision in a game where every yard counts lol den say he could moved his arm which he would have still got hit with his shoulder and helmet and how yall expect him to swing his body to the side
Can't wait to see the Texans next season
I really hate that Mike didn’t engage Devin in the deeper conversation. Yea what happened to Trevor is messed up. But what Devin said is real talk. The general picture is the big thing. And like he said last week Trevor might have kept running. This week he wants to slide. You never know. I personally grew up on the defensive side of the ball. So I side with the defenders here.
@@QuDotG34 But Devin made it 100% clear that this situation didn’t fit into that category. Ryans did not. I like DeMeco. He’s defending his guy. But he didn’t manage that the right way. Devin interpreted Ryans’ words generously. Go back and listen - he never says or implies that this is about the larger situation. He then blames the Jags players for responding the way they did - a response that included multiple defensive players - which we know is wrong. He would have lauded his players for responding that way if someone hit CJ like that.
Who was the fair-haired boy that they changed the, "When a QB is running, they are a runner" for?
LB did not go for QB Head. Late slide by QB!
Texans coach is not apologetic at all.. he's part of the problem...
“We stand behind azeez…..”
Ok, so I, assuming you’ll be fine with the other team knocking stroud into next week then huh?
Football is for QBs...get used to it!
Not the hardest hit boy stop
He said give time to slide lol that statement is crazy how do you give a player time to make a decision in a game where every yard counts lol football definitely gon be done soon
Ummm I’m pretty sure the Texans players would have done the same thing if Foye Oluokun had applied the same hit to CJ Stroud. That’s Jags players defending their QB.
And it’s shameless that DeMecco downplayed Azeez Al-Shaair (aka dickhead’s actions.
Sigh. Always bringing up PM15 huh? Rent free.
No more respect for Ryan. He had me fooled! Suspend Aziz whole season fine 25pct yearly salary. Fine “Coach” Ryan 25pct of his salary. Fine owner 20M. AND 2 first round draft picks. It will stop if it doesn’t kick Ryan’s and Aziz out of nfl for life and no first round draft pick go 5 years. It will stop. Don’t wait until someone is paralyzed!!!
Totally reasonable take...😂
If overreacting was a person. LOL
Imagine stroud gets hit like that… Demeco is delulu
What a joke of an answer
I saw Rex Ryan makes a good point. Instead of sliding as a qb. It’s safer to dive head first you avoid those type of shots.
It's not though. Sliding initiates the dead play for protection of the qb. Diving is the opposite. You do that and it's legit for the defender to drive your head into the turf. Rex Ryan is a buffoon who says whatever comes to mind.
He was going to the ground come on lol Stroud better be ready next time they knocking him out
Meh. Wasn’t vicious. You out there running around the perimeter you get what you get.
Was a late slide
No new penalties, mccourty that is a terrible idea. Unless you love refball
Did the QB get the first down
I think everyone knows QBs have to play smarter. People bring up mahomes... they do hit him...but he bulked up... he's hitting back and thank God he doesn't slide where he's vulnerable. No..you can't penalize acting.. because they all do.
It doesn't happen more because no one needs to play dirty...no one wants to get hurt making a play..number 0 isn't playing smart or a good sportsman.
Ryans must have CTE. Over reacted. TFOH
Maybe I'm blinded by the H-Town sun. I saw a forearm to the hurt shoulder of Trevor Lawrence. I see the initial impact at the top of the shoulder pad. I saw the slide and the defensive launch happen @ same time. Then they charging him for instigating the brawl. The brawl wouldn't have happened If Ingram had not took matters in his own hands. Who gets fine or suspended for jaguar? C'mon. You don't want players to react like that neither. Just like the fine you gave Azees, in bears game. Yall are hypocrites.
@@BellairDaTreyBaby3 He hit him in the head man, while he was already on the ground. You gotta watch again.
@@BellairDaTreyBaby3 I assume you’re a Texans fan. You’re telling me you don’t want to see your sideline rally to CJ’s defense if he’s lying on the ground in a fencing position? Cmon man.
@smyers9052 that's not what I said. It would happen if that were to happen. As a matter of fact. Fans come out the stands for CJ dain hurt! 🤣 yet, it doesn't make it right. It's understandable, but it ain't right. It's against the rules. Just like the hit was against the rules. So Azees has to get beat up, get ejected, penalty offset, but he get all the punishment. Belichec was a repeat offender, the patriots were repeat offenders. The guy who issued the punishment was a repeat offender. C'mon. People have to exercise their 360 degree sight and thinking. Not saying he shouldn't be punished...but the only one?
@ I’m not saying he should be the only one. I think we mostly agree lol.
@smyers9052 yes! That's all I'm saying. Thank you. 🤣😂😄
The hc is speaking to protect his guy/team. Wat you u expect a hc to say. All hc will say the same thing in this situation. If he throws his guy under the bus he will lose the locker room.
Al Shire?😂
Why are you defending a dirty player he had every intention of hurting the qb he's had form for head hunting this time he's gone to far
Blaming the QB and racism, Texans are a 🤡 organization
This is exactly that situation.. Trevor was pushing for the first down then slid extremely late. Azeez was protecting the first down marker.
Fake sliding should absolutely be an unsportsmanlike penalty
Ray Lewis used to decapitate people and you’re telling me this is the most vicious hit you’ve ever seen? Come on stop overreacting.
he said the "post safety era" ya shmuck
🤡
Yeah, maybe in the '70s this was a throwaway hit. However, we're not in the '70s anymore
Fans and the league are soft these days…cry more
Al-Shaair is a great guy. I don't care about what other peeps talking about.
Ummm...ok😂
That's fair
