Jóhanna Guðrún - "VETRARSÓL" (with subtitles!) - Yohanna

"Vetrarsól" is certainly one of Jóhanna Guðrún's most breathtaking TV appearances ever. Once again she proves irrefutably that she is indeed a great artist, with an angelic voice and brilliant abilities as a vocalist! She is just plain the best, without any doubt ...
"Vetrarsól" is a popular Icelandic classic, of course sung by Jóhanna Guðrún in her mothertongue Icelandic. Sounds very beautiful and unique, but sadly the most non-Icelanders understand hardly a word of the truly wunderfull lyrics - and I thought by myself that's a pity and has to be changed!
A lot of the beauty of "Vetrarsól" fades away, if you are unable to understand the meaning of the words. To avoid this sad fact, I decided to make a video with Icelandic and English subtitles, although I don't speak any Icelandic. But I knew from experience that Icelanders are very kind and very helpfull...
Therefore and first of all I have to say a huge THANK YOU! to Guðrún Agnes Bjarkadóttir with all my heart! She is certainly one of the above mentioned Icelanders and just as a huge fan of Jóhanna Guðrún as I am.
Guðrún Agnes wrote the incredibly beautiful English translation for our video. I was almost perplexed but surely very pleased to see how much effort and time she has put into our "project Vetrarsól" and how much attention to tiny details she has spent, sometimes on individual words.
That's really not taken for granted and so it's for me a simple fact: Without Guðrún Agnes this video would not exist at all...
The video is originally an excerpt from the Christmas concert "Jólatónleikar Fíladelfíu 2016", first aired by STÖÐ2 on Christmas Eve 2016.
