It bears repeating that racing at barely 4 months postpartum WHILE breastfeeding AND winning races is truly unfathomable. I don't think people fully grasp the magnitude of this - it's quite literally one of the most incredible athletic accomplishments I've ever seen. Props to you for all that you do, seen and unseen, Gwen. You're inspiring a lot of women, mothers and people across the world.
Last year, an interviewer asked Jan Frodeno if he thinks he’s a champion. Jan said that he believes he’s been a good ambassador for the sport who’s showed integrity and leadership - and that’s what really makes him a champion. By that definition, Gwen far exceeds what it means to be a champion in triathlon. Overlooking her compassion, perseverance, leadership and grit in the selection process is such a loss to this US Olympic team. There’s no one in this sport that I’d rather cheer for than Gwen Jorgensen. Look forward to continuing to follow along with her journey, inside and outside of triathlon.
I have loved watching you return to Triathlon Gwen. I am sorry that you did not make the team. You have shown again what an amazing athlete and person you are. I hope the next phase of this journey is rewarding for you and your family. 🎉
Sad I won’t get to see you, thanks for the honest update. You’re inspiring young women everywhere, to even have been in the conversation so soon after birth is an accomplishment. Wish you the best ❤
You had such a great go at it over such a small amount of time. While Knibb and Spivey were obvious choices, you had a really strong case for the 3rd spot. I think you would have been selected if you competed and finished in the top 3 at Calgiari, so it's a shame you didn't get a shot to prove it.
Heartbroken for you over Paris...but confident there's more GO GWEN in our future! Excited to see where the journey will take you and hoping you just might change your mind about the T100 like you did regarding a return to Tri. 😇🤩 Praying for you and your family; God bless, Megan 🙏🙏
Really glad the Olympic thing is out of the way. Many of us have picked up that you haven't been yourself for a while. Lots of changes in your lives. Thank you for bringing us along. Stay true to you.🎉
Nothing to be ashamed of. You did an amazing job with the deck stacked against you. If it’s anything like ultra trail lotteries, being an alternate isn’t a death sentence. Keep keeping on!
Well I am so glad you have decided to go on to the world championships. They are one step above Olympics anyway despite the fact that the Olympics tend to be more popular with the general public. To be honest I am not looking forward to watching the triathlon without you in it! I would just go on to show my true strength in the World championships. You are an amazing champion and that is probably why you have some encountered resistance. Success brings with it a degree of resistance from others as well as positive aspects. Sport is not always fair either sometimes. Show your true grit and go on to show what can happen if you imagine! Why not try the next Olympics too and do a first in terms of all the accepted norms! I think its possible.
I just want to say you are awesome!!! Such an inspiration and role model as an athlete and human being. I really wish you were selected. But looking forward to watching you in WTCS
Thanks for being open about it. I was also upset you did not get selected but have faith on your resilience. Maybe this time you can take more time to build up for 2028.

Go Gwen Go. Be bold. Be adaptable. Keep being you! I’m so excited for your 2024 2025 plans. Once the racing days are behind you, I think you would be an incredible mental skills coach!
A good case for you to get selected based on fastest overall women's mixed relay split at Sunderland over Beaugrande, Potter, and other top world women. I think Seth Rider was picked over Matt McElroy based on potential Mixed Relay performance in Paris (stronger swim to possibly hang with others), even though Rider was ranked lower than McElroy.
yes i was told that was "strong but the other USA women didnt have enough opportunities at the relay" ... weird as i didn't think i had enough in the individual. another case is in their document is having a strong runner which i believe i am as i'm the only candidate to ever run a top 3 time
I am quite frankly amazed at this story of being expected to write a begging letter for inclusion. Are the selectors not close enough to the sport to be able to select based upon results and form? Ridiculous. Really sorry for you Gwen, thought you were on an upwards trajectory and was looking forward to seeing you in Paris.
when you said "a mother would understand how hard it has been" ...it made my cry. I am 8m post partum and let me just say. what you tried to do was out of this world hard! breastfeeding, sleepless nights, traveling with a baby, traveling away from your baby. all that is crazy crazy hard. I am so sorry this did not work out
Now that you mention it. Only having two chances to qualify is crazy. Had you had more opportunities and another year you would have qualified and won a medal. My prediction is by end of next year you will be winning races and win the world champs. Barring injuries. I think the only medal for triathlon at least for individual will come from Taylor Knibb.
You do you, champ. The goat female triathlete. USAT have made a mistake as the Olympic triathlon will be a duathlon due to poor water quality, so a run bike run format will suit you better than the other girls.
Kirsten Armstrong got a gold at 44. You’ll have 2 years on her in 2028 and this ever improving curve. Plus Stanley and George will be old enough to remember their mom winning a gold. DO IT! You’ve always taken decisions which have felt right, quitting at the top of your sport and then returning to it, making HUGE inroads in 1 year and frankly, this selection process was idiotic. Anyways, we do not control the uncontrollables. What is in your control is this positive attiude and this immense talent. I cannot wait to see you in LA in 2028, winning the gold again. Go Gwen Go!

They should select Knibb as domestique for Gwen. I think US will have 3 top12 finishes but they will not get a medal without Gwen. Also Gwen showed great performance in Sunderland team relay. Non other US girl can run good enough to compete for a medal in Paris.
