@thehumble1 There has been many a long argument at the FIVB about this very issue, and there is no question that 'commercialising the brand' (sexualising) has been the major push to regulate. And so yes, comparing men to women, it is about fashion. There has, however, been strong support from female beach players, such as the Brazilians, but one wonders their true motivation. Beach and indoor are different. There is no rule requiring women to dress differently to men, but they mostly chose to.
@thehumble1 It's not a fashion statement, it's practical - women the world over at all levels of volleyball wear such "bike pants" clothing, although not always as short as these...
@MGoose66 I think it's true that many, if not most women would rather wear a small two piece than shorts. I've seen a few players mention that once you play in a suit, you don't go back to shorts. Actually I'm sure it's a better athletic outfit than the stupid board shorts that most men wear that are slim through the hips. I've read a few comments by top male players who say that it is restrictive, but it's fashionable. and for women it might be a choice of bikini and viewers or no sponsors
@MGoose66 So that's why it's for "practical" reasons that the bikini is forced in rules and regulations for beach volleyball? come on. If it's for practical reasons why don't men wear them? Do you think men just don't want to do what's practical? What practical purpose was there for the Olympics to require that the sides of the "swim suits" worn must be no thicker than 6cm? There are a series of complaints about this from international women's teams and not because of the practicality.
if that is what they want to wear, fine. But I don't believe they really want to pull their shorts out of their ass all game. I can understand it outdoors, but indoors it just looks stupid and sexist. Could you imagine a men's team wearing jock straps?
Go to :45 sec, the ref called service from the wrong side, when instead the other team was supposed to serve
I want to see a slow-mo of that hit from a low angle, please. kekeke
I like this video. A lot.
