Dennis, you are so right about the tiny footwell which is incredibly uncomfortable for sleeping. My wife and I recently flew MEL-SFO via Singapore return. Four flights on the A350. Everything was superb but seriously let down by a glaring fault with the seat design, as you so correctly observed
Flew them last year but was too tired for the main course. The lovely FA said she would keep cheesecake and serve it with coffee for me when I woke as despite being an overnight flight no breakfast is served. True to her word as soon as she saw me rousing I had the cheesecake and coffee in front of me.
A great review as always, Dennis. As someone who has never been up the pointy end, and rarely gets the opportunity to fly, it's great to see what it's like through your videos!
Loved the B1 B2 joke at the beginning! Here in Ireland my daughter watched Bananas in Pyjamas. We even had it on dvd! Hadn't heard that reference in a long time (my daughter is 19 now) so thanks for the memories 😊
Great to see you back again Dennis - you are one of the reasons I chose Singapore Airlines to do a long planned and saved for trip to Australia - I found a travel agent that specialised in discount business class fares and managed to a great deal on a LHR - SIN - PER - BNE - SIN - LHR ticket - it was a blast! A380 - A350 - Virgin Partner 737 - A350 - 777 - every flight was amazing (book the cook lobster thermidor on LHR - SIN route was stunning). Best overall was the A380 - best for sleeping the 777. The A350 perfect for mid length flights. When pushed it's got to the A380 - it's just amazing in every category
The a350 is a nice plane, so quiet I was surprised. I agree the seat is w i d e. So wide that I didn't know what to do with my elbows. The 777 first class is even wider. Glad I was in the bulkhead seat!
Flying Singapore was always one of the best parts about living in Southeast Asia. 20 years ago they had full Pokemon games on KrisWorld, kept me entertained for those transpacific marathon flights.
Your “one legged pirates” comment caught me off guard. I laughed out loud with my wife looking at me strangely as she couldn’t hear the video. Great video as always!
Great video. Fully agree with the footwell. The other flaw I find about the seat is the lack of legrest. So you can only put your feet on the floor when you are in an upright or semi-upright position. Also without a legrest, the metals below the seat gets exposed and sometimes they will scrape your legs when you come back to your seat from the toilet. If you are wearing shorts, the scraping against bear skin can lead to bleeding
Hi Dennis yes I find your reviews very informative especially as we thinking of travelling to either Australia or New Zealand next year to celebrate a special wedding anniversary and Singapore Airlines is at the top of our list
Dennis, it is a pleasure to watch your videos. You can make any airline seem elegant. It is your soft, comforting voice and manner that makes for the pleasant experience watching your videos. Keep doing what you do. Thanks! :-)
great review as always. Can’t wait for SQ to start flying their A350-900 into Cairns next month and then flying to Manchester in May. Looking forward to another SQ flight.
The reason your windows fogged is because Melbourne weather is becoming like Sydney - unusually lots of humidity and rain this summer. & a 15 -20 minute wait on baggage at MEL is pretty good given recent experiences. It can be a lot longer.
@@neilrmartin1984it's the worst. A great seat ruined by the diagonal foot hole. It's so uncomfortable when lying back and watching the screen or sleeping.
A solid review of a great airline Dennis, agree with your comments on the sleeping position; it's not as good as some other carriers in that respect. (If you get a seat in a bulkhead row this isn't a problem BTW.) But in nearly every other respect SQ remain just excellent and so consistent - I can't help returning for more. 😃
Great video! Brings back memories. I lived in Singapore for 10 years and we'd go to Melbourne all the time since my husband had projects there. Now we're based in Canada and only go back to Singapore every 2 years and we haven't been back to Melbourne for 10 years.
We've watched and taken your advice Dennis. Soon to embark on our first Bunnik Tour of Vietnam & Cambodia in early November flying Singapore Business Class all the way. Our experience thus far has been great.
Really enjoyable review Dennis. Never travelled on Singapore Airlines, but looks really good. Wouldn't want to sleep on the flights with footroom like that though. A great start to a Saturday morning here in Britain, watching a new video of yours
We flew SFO-SIN in late October, returning in early December in Business on the A350. I’m 6’2” tall, with size 12 US feet and I could not agree more about the footwell. It put my body in a pretty awkward position for sleeping. We’ve flown business with this seat configuration on other airlines and it’s the same. Best seat I’ve found so far, at least for sleeping, is JAL’s 777-300ER with a 2-3-2 configuration is business. The seats all face straight ahead, not at angles and they have huge foot wells. In all other aspects, however, SQ is in a class by itself in Business. Food service was insanely good. I had a fish entree out of SFO that was restaurant quality. Most times, particularly out of SFO, fish entrees are overcooked and dry. This was cooked perfectly and very, very moist. Same out of Changi, but with a steak. Cooked perfectly. Also, a shoutout to SQ’s in-flight entertainment. I’m hard of hearing. ANA and JAL have a few films each flight that are close captioned. On SQ, they all were, and on a 17+ hour flight, that was very nice for me.
I loved the A350 business class. Really comfortable and very wide. The best part of flying Singapore Airlines, though, is always the service. Looking forward to my 787-9 flights on Singapore Airlines later this year.
Took this from Frankfurt to Singapore last year on a B777. I found this seat to be great if you were in the bulkhead seat (which I somehow got). It was a great seat and was a great experience overall. Honestly though, I thought that the best buisness class in Singapore Airlines was the A380 buisness class.
I love Singapore Airlines and always fly with them! Great Business Class! But I never go with business class it’s expensive! Great video and thank you for sharing 😍😊👍
I’m off to New Zealand in a couple of weeks, slumming it in business class with Singapore Airlines on their A 380… the leg from Changi to Auckland was originally going to be on an A 350 but at some time they changed the equipment, so it looks as though I’m going to miss this bird. Somehow I think I will survive the experience 😊great video as always and I’m really looking forward to the trip with SQ.
A huge benefit with SGA compared to that well known Australian airline Qantass is I find it easy to book a business class flight with points and only double the points compared to an economy flight booking
SQ Biz still lagging behind many others, sadly they use those same seats on their Singapore-JFK Non-Stop, it’s so uncomfortable! So many better business options with all the extras at a far lower price too. EVA biz my #1 now, truly impressive.
@@DennisBunnikTravels you will be amazed! They have non-stops from BKK to LHR and AMS on B-777. Flights through Taipei get the B-787, both are equally great experience - free PJ’s, Book the Cook, anytime dinning, 2006 Champagne, amazing bedding, amenity kits, incredible staff, star alliance points, and and and…give it a go! 😎✈️
Flew this from Seattle to Singapore and back last summer, and just booked a flight from Singapore to Seattle for next winter. The trick is getting one of the bulkhead seats, which become available 48-96 hours before departure. I don't sleep much even on long flights, but the extra space is so nice.
One legged pirate? 😂😂😂. Fantastic, uplifting and funny video as always. Love your sense of humour and attention to detail. I flew SQ biz lately and even though it was a 3.5 hour flight on the A350-900, the crew were fantastic. It was a red eye flight and I didn’t sleep but I didn’t care. The crew barely sat down to take a deep breath so I know what you mean.
There's something special about Changi Airport especially when you haven't been there for a while. It's the right sort of place to relax after a long flight from Europe or the USA and onwards to Australia/NZ. To me a good airport is one that is not only functional for aircraft but has a good ambience because we all need to spend time connecting between flights, often for hours at a time at funny hours.
Definitely! I think Changi is a great airport and love the fact when you arrive you are straight into the terminal not herded through endless corridors to security. Security before you board your connecting flight is much easier as far I'm concerned.
I flew in the same flagship business class just three weeks ago and agree with everything you said. Because of my height (6'4'' / 194cm), I made sure to grab a bulkhead seat (11A). Reserving the bulkhead is a hassle as they are mostly reserved for SQ top-tier frequent flyers but I managed to do it and had a great time. I was unfortunately ill on the flight so couldn't take too much advantage of the lovely catering but I did manage to sleep 9 of the 13 hours to Copenhagen, which is a testament to the comfort of the seat and the bulkhead especially. On another note, I caught the Bananas in Pyjamas reference, even as a non-Australian😁 It seems to have had some spotty popularity across different countries and it was certainly on the telly in the mornings here in Denmark when I was a kid
I first visited Changi in 2017 and was surprised at the amount of carpet in the terminals. Really cuts down on the noise levels. It's a great airport. The wide SIA seats always make me jealous, but that legroom looks poor for sleeping.
Great video as always. I'd love to try Singapore especially during daytime but for nighttime/sleeping that footwell space/angle is an issue. I think I'd prefer an aligned footwell space with a slightly narrower seat but it's all personal preference.
Singapore Airlines business class looks very nice, and the airport at Singapore is slso good. As far as airports go it would be one of the easier ones to transit.
I flew in December and January SQ BC from Germany to Brisbane and back . I really like the service, tge crews and meals. I dislike the space for my feet and that I need support to make the bed modus. I prefer the elder A 350 machines ,where you can do it with the Button by yourself.
Great video Dennis. Singapore Airlines Business Class looks lovely and very comfortable. I highly recommend that you watch the Singapore Airlines documentary on RUclips.
As I spent a good amount of time last year bouncing between the US and Bali I decided to use SQ, I have to say, my feelings after the flights was pretty much on par with yours. For reference I did 4 round trips SFO-SIN-DPS, so in total 16 flights. The food was good, with the exception that on the 16 legs I managed to get garlic bread exactly once, well that is not 100% true, the 2nd time they somehow managed to not serve the right hand side of the J cabin ANY bread, when I pointed this out it was very politely explained to me that I was mistaken, I equally politely asked the cabin manager to look down the aisle and count the bread dishes with bread on them or any evidence of bread having been there. Now, I will say, he did an excellent job of hiding his irritation when it was clear there was no bread on that side of the cabin, and in reality this really is a 1st world problem and he did show up a few minutes later with some garlic bread that I guess they had managed to scavenge from somewhere, but after throwing it back in the oven to reheat again it came out like a rock. I will say the food other than the lack of garlic bread was great, on most trips I would order the Nasi Goreng and peppered beef, both outstanding dishes. The real issue though is as you say, the footwell, if you are more than 5'8 or have more than one foot (I have 2 and they are size 14 US) there simply is no room to sleep, in this regard and honestly now that I think about it, the seat in J on the 787-10 is far superior.
The footwell is really tight. I try to get a bulkhead seat but my last flight was a reward ticket so getting the bulk head seat was not possible. It was unfortunate as this flight was the super long SIN/JFK. My other slight annoyance is going from seat to bed mode needs help from the flight attendant so on a long flight where you might want to sleep and sit up multiple times, it is problematic.
Seats look good Dennis , bit odd with the foot room but a lot better than I remember the last time I flew Singapore Airlines business class . I can,t remember what type of aircraft it was but the business class seating was very underwhelming and really dated like it came out of a 1970,s Boeing 747 . Still think the best business class seats we ever had were Austrian Airlines from Bangkok to Vienna , comfy and like Turkish Airlines the chefs come up and take your order for meals plus the aircraft was immaculate in every way even the uniforms for the crew were impeccable . PS Dennis…. We are in a few weeks going to New Zealand for a few weeks flying Air New Zealand business class on their 777 so we will let you know what that was like ( doing Air New Zealand on your recommendation ) . And no nether of us have a foot fetish 😊 .
Im 191 cm (6'3") and have flown business class on Singapore Airlines A350 and B777. The A350 had the foot well directly in front of the seat. It was too close to sleep on my back and too narrow to sleep on my side. I did not sleep well. The B777 had the footwell offset from the seat and I was able to get a good night sleep on my side (my normal sleeping position)
Yep, had one of these seats last year, absolutely hate the sleeping position - and having to get up off the seat to fold the seat back forwards to make a bed. I will not go out of my way for this if I’m on an overnighter.
Happy that you recognised the superiority of the MAS satay!! ;) I mean, SIA does most everything else better, but gotta give it to MAS for keeping the satay consistent for decades.
i was on singapores 787 business, PERTH>SG>BKK RETURN and wasnt that impressed, the legroom was ok but the footwell was awquard and not so comfortable would fly again but would travel in day time rather than the overnight service and not sleep during flight
Hi loving your videos, but just so you know @6:22 just because Singapore airlines offers bed-making services doesn’t mean Cathay does! We recently have a lot of members from other airlines making us make the bed for them! And we don’t do that😂 we are not paid enough to do so with the pay cut 😂and in all honesty we have never had this service before!
I took this flight from Singapore to Brussels and had a good night’s sleep. (After a wonderful dinner that is). No issues at all. I don’t understand all the negative comments on here. The seat is good.
Another great video Dennis. I can only dream of business class so it's great to see your videos. How good are the Bunnik luggage straps, so easy to pick out your luggage. We're off on our third Bunnik tour in a few months and we can't wait (sadly in economy - I did my best to win powerball but my $8.00 win won't cut it 😅)
SQ does offer amenity kits (contains lip balm, lotion and face mists) with other amenities (eye mask, slippers, socks, dental kits) on requests or in the toilets.
Recently did Perth to Singapore ( 787-10) , then onto Zurich (777-300) and then Paris to Singapore ( 777-300) and Singapore to Perth ( 787-10) , all with SQ in economy and it was definitely a great choice. I was seated just behind premium economy in the 777's and saw enough to want to experience that next time 😂
Ouch....didn't know about the A350 foot problem when sleeping. I'm flying Singapore this Fall - SFO-MEL in Business so kind of bummed that I'll have to sleep on my side. Flew Singapore in A380 a few years ago and didn't have this problem.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking B1 🤣 love it!!
Wonderful video Dennis!
Thanks for the tip about ideal location for side sleeping, and which seats to choose.
Great video. Definitely sold me on Singapore Airlines 350
Thank you
Yep, had one of these seats last year, absolutely hate the sleeping position - and having to get up off the seat to fold the seat back forwards to make a bed. I will not go out of my way for this if I’m on an overnighter.
Happy that you recognised the superiority of the MAS satay!! ;) I mean, SIA does most everything else better, but gotta give it to MAS for keeping the satay consistent for decades.
Yes totally agree about the seats - they gave me a bit of anxiety with legtrap - not a fan
Love the Lobster and Satay aboard. Great video ❤
Thanks!
i was on singapores 787 business, PERTH>SG>BKK RETURN and wasnt that impressed, the legroom was ok but the footwell was awquard and not so comfortable
would fly again but would travel in day time rather than the overnight service and not sleep during flight
I just did this product Singapore to San Fran and I’m 6’-4”…. The footwell is a little narrow but an AMAZING product.
Good review! I think the hard product is a huge let down for how good the soft product is
Fantastic video as always Dennis!😸
Thanks :)
Great video Dennis. Always like Singapore
Thanks Claire
Hi loving your videos, but just so you know @6:22 just because Singapore airlines offers bed-making services doesn’t mean Cathay does! We recently have a lot of members from other airlines making us make the bed for them! And we don’t do that😂 we are not paid enough to do so with the pay cut 😂and in all honesty we have never had this service before!
Sad SQ cancelled their YVR-SIN. AC is good but not the same. Another great video.
Great review mate! The product seems excellent except for the footwell.
The seats are looking a bit exhausted. But the service is world class.
The tiny foot area he’s really annoying, but thanks for the tip on which seat to get depending on which side you sleep on makes sense
Lovely review as always mate :D
Thanks mate, appreciate the support
