    Listen, the height of the jump doesn’t determine how well you ride. Some of these people are not ready to jump so high. You have to work for it. If you or the horse are not ready for that height, DONT DO IT, that’s how horses and riders get injured. Please work on other things before you learn to jump

    • @adascrazylife

      Yesss! Someone who agrees with my opinion sometimes I get jealous some of the reasons of them falling off is becuase they’re not ready to jump that high yet I’ve been riding for 6 years now and I can only jump 70-75 cm

    • @pfrancotto7807
      @pfrancotto7807 4 года назад +4

      Okay, but the horse could just be nervous about it suddenly. You don’t know how well they ride, the horse may just be nervous. Why, I don’t know. But it could be because it’s a new home for them, new rider, who knows. And maybe, sometimes these people may not even have a choice, who knows. Their coach could be saying, “just do it”. So you don’t know how well they are, they probably just made mistakes.

    • @user-qu2vx9tp1q
      @user-qu2vx9tp1q 4 года назад +2

      @@pfrancotto7807 I know and I really can’t be judging these people from one 2 second clip but that’s why it’s takes a lot to jump. And not all horses will just jump anything perfectly. The horse needs confidence too just like us. Also if we are not confident of going over the jump, the horse might refuse. Every horse is different tho, also I’m not saying that nobody should ever refuse a jump, we all make mistakes, but you just have to practice before you get better

      Yup. I have a funny story of the most recent time I accidentally rode for a bit without a hat and I dodged a bullet.
      It was winter, but kinda mild so I had to take off a layer. I was also riding a green horse that did have a habit of being exubrent and sometimes outright just throwing her weight around.
      So... this was the first time I was going to ride her, had lunged and then went to get on with everyone else.... only I'd forgotten I took my hat off to take a layer off and somehow forgot to put it back on. We warmed up with some walking and stretching and did a bit of trotting, 10 minutes in someone finally realised I didn't have a hat on.
      I panicked and everyone was laughing nervously. I got handed my hat and got on with it, but it's a requirement at that place...... and she was not the kind of Mare you wanted to even lunge without a hat on.
      I got ribbed for that for months talking about the time I got on a mare from hell and forgot my hat.

    Some of those girls need to learn to let go of the reins when they are falling or they're gonna have expensive vet bills and a horse that no longer trusts the bit. Then some (not all or even most, but still some) will need a fancy trainer to fix what didn't need to happen to begin with. I get that when we're falling instinct tells us not to let go but it's important to learn with horses.

    0:30 - this is why I always wear a hard hat. ESPECIALLY when jumping.
    While it wasn't bucking, the horse jumped akwardly and turned out from under me while landing, normally I would have been fine and my foot got stuck in the stirrup. I came crashing down on the base of my skull. Even on a safe schooling surface, that hat had to be replaced with the crack it made on landing and I was sent to hospital with a diagnosed concussion.
    Now imagine like this girl I hadn't worn a hat. I can't even imagine the best-case scenario, since it'd have been bad, the worst was I could have died in that simple fall.

      Actually you can jump in a western saddle its not common but most of the time western riders that jump like that use a d- ring snaffle or and o- ring snaffle and those are English bits but they can be used for western too. the only thing your hurting is you by hitting your self on the horn but if you go into two point your not going to hit it. I ride English and western I jump both styles, it’s not hurting your horse, maybe learn more about horses before you make comments on somebody’s fail video if they were using a cattle bit or an abusive copper roller bit yeah then you could make this comment. Most people don't expect to fall and when they do it feels like it happens super fast, everything is spinning and it can take a while to remember to let go. Its not that we want to hurt the horses or want to kee holding but ur muscles clench instinctually.

      @@clyderocks8821 well, personally I've been riding 5 years, i go to an equine collage, and i own and train green horses.
      I know very well whats in their mouth and i understand that yes, it would be better if people let go of the reins. EVERY RIDER KNOWS THAT. BUT that doesn't mean it'll always happen like that. As someone who has fallen quite a few times falls, especially if ur on the horse are fast and unexpected so you're not always gonna react well. You'll get startled and your SURVIVAL INSTINCT will kick in and you will try to hold on to anything near you. This happens to everyone, from beginners to pros. And yes its not good, these are fails, things went wrong. But people are always learning.
      I wish i let go when i fall and sometimes i do, sometimes i dont, but i try.
      Someone telling me i should have let go isn't gonna change what happened and it doesn't mean I'll let go from then on, but i try every time. Most equestrians do. No one wants to pull on that metal bit but it happens and people usually feep very bad about it. So i repeat, comments sayin 'ong i can't belive they don't let go' or 'LET GO OF THE REIS' dont help, they just prove how toxic the community is. I also want u to (metaphorically) look me in the eye and say in all honesty that u have never held on to the reins and never will when you fall

    A lot of people in the comments are saying that western saddles should be jumped with so I just want to say that it is completely fine to jump in a western saddle. Yeah, it's not made specifically for jumping but it was originally made as a working saddle. A saddle to get you from point a to point b. It was designed to be used in any obstacles on a trail or path you may come across. So it's fine to jump in a western saddle. I'm not saying you should always jump in a western saddle, I'm just saying it's not bad to jump in one every once in a while. Stop assuming it's bad.
