This is all political and means nothing but more taxes for some and starvation for others. We can’t turn off oil and gas and expect to keep our standard of living and provide the energy need to lift many in the third world out of poverty.
Canada emitted 620 megatonnes of co2 in 2021 (562 megatons).
Canada has 894,000,000 acres of trees.
An acre of trees can absorb up to 2.6 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
Therefore Canada’s trees absorb 2,324,400,000 tons (2,324 megatons) of carbon dioxide per year - nearly 4 times as much as we emit.
We are already far past net zero. In fact we are absorbing a whole lot of emissions from the rest of the world.
Canadians are among the highest per capita emitters in the world. We live lifestyles many others dream about. We have a responsibility to be part of the solution if solutions exist. And the trees...remember we didn't plant them. We took them from First Nation peoples.
@@saskwatch123 Canada is also a cold and extremely vast country which should always be a consideration and usually is not. We took trees from indigenous?!?!? How is that even possible?

We agreed to transition away from fossil fuels... no language to actaully move away from fossil fuels was included.. so really it was a net gain in Co2.. because the only change was how much extra fuel wss burned on lrivate planes for the whole crowd.
Do you notice that rich people want a end to fossil fuel; and who uses the most fossil fuel per person? Rich people who have their own planes and large multiple dwellings. Then the gullible young people follow along.
No the rich already have BEVs and are getting hydrogen turboprops.
they dont want to end it... they want to control it all. And lie to us about it. fossil fuels are renewable, we can create them with the right components and heat and pressure. Its all a lie. think about it ... we can create diamonds from human bodies.
Alberta needs to stop equalization payments entirely. Then we can experience what life in canada will be like under climate wokism, as a test to see if the voting public really wants to go back to a stone age canada but with wifi.
Provinces don't send any money to other provinces, or to Ottawa, so they can't stop something that they don't control. Alberta has oilsands oil, which can't compete with cheaper sources of oil that are out there, and there are numerous other sources of cheaper oil that are showing up. Even Hibernia will fare better. The Conservatives in Alberta wasted and lost exponential amounts of money on the most costliest debacles repeatedly, ever since Don Getty was premier of Alberta. Oil is very important, but water is far more important than oil is. There are different places that have water shortages, including in Alberta.
yea, in 100 years.
This will lead to a greener future? Increased carbon emmissions have actually lead to greening the earth. Look it up.
Here, I will help you courtesy of the web: "Green plants grow faster with more CO2. Many also become more drought- resistant because higher CO2 levels allow plants to use water more efficiently. More abundant vegetation from increased CO2 is already apparent."
Irrelevant. The planet is greening, as predicted by climate science. CO2 causes increased cellulose production hence more tonnage of only certain crops, but no increase in nutritional value. Current rate of global warming brings a loss of global biodiversity and favours weeds over crops. When food is grown at elevated CO2 levels in fields, it becomes less nutritious and lose significant amounts of zinc and iron plus grains lose protein. Because of this you need more fields to produce more volumes to make this up and more greenhouses, as you decrease the amount of protein you can produce per acre.
Agricultural hothouses work by preventing convection. The atmospheric greenhouse effect works by altering the thermal equilibrium point between Earth and space.
It is about ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere and the disruption in plant growth, not about the saturation point in greenhouses or concentration in soil.
It just had to be dubai. Whats the per capita emissions of all those skyscrapers.
Transition from oil what are they going to use electric vehicles? There’s not enough to transport food let alone people so this statement is actually idiocy like most things that come from the government think about it.❤DALE.

Why does canada still sell massive amounts of coal out in Delta BC if they are so concerned about fossil fuels?...
They mostly sell it to China where they are using coal as a bridge-fuel to power its electric grid while they wait for the nuke biz to get its act together - developing its new technology. At least China with all its faults, is doing more than Canada and the US is doing and already have some ultra high voltage transmission - DC and AC, which requires less fuel. They also emit half the amount of CO2 emissions per capita than the US does. Their newer coal powered plants are so efficient that an EV recharged by them puts out half the CO2 as a gasoline car the same size doing the same trip and even much better in stop and go commuter congestion.
Its a crazy world. Brings to mind China was doing something about power plants until Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Accords and took the international pressure off. Just over eight years ago, China was tearing down old coal plants twice as fast as they built newer, twice as efficient ones.

Hear hear! One that continues to constrict and reduce oil production down to ultimately zero. Also the penalties need to so incredibly punitive and painful that it would be bankruptcy inducing (with them not able to be dismissed by bankruptcy) to miss them.
It's so simple for you! Legislators should tax them and put on penalties! So those companies can just pass on all those extra costs to the consumer! Making the government richer and people poorer... Last I checked, I don't think it's _optional_ for people to heat their homes or fuel their cars. So what sense is it making oil & gas more expensive?
We can reduce the amount of fossil fuels quite easy. All those that object to the use of them should just stop using anything that is or uses fossil fuels. All the people that object, like the liberals should quit flying all over the world which uses a lot of fossil fuels. Having these meetings on zoom would sure cut down on fossil fuel consumption. The only people that are punished for using fossil fuel are those that can’t afford the carbon tax. Frudeau flies all over the world telling people “thou shalt not use fossil fuels”. If someone stopped to figure out his carbon footprint I’m sure they would find out it’s about that of 1000 people.
