    I understood the procedure but I have a problem with the mean length/depression measurements that is you were taking the mean values upto 4th decimal place where your instrument is able to measure upto 3rd decimal place . I think you need to rectify this .

      Because on the main scale 12th division is best matching with 0 of Vernier scale.
      0.05 is the value of one division.
      For example there is 20 divisions from 0 to 1 so 20×0.05 = 1
      So in your case count all the divisions from 0 to 12 and there will be 240 divisions from 0 to 12 and then multiply 240×0.05 = 12.
      So it's Your wish to observe the reading directly by main scale or by counting all the divisions on main scale and multiply by 0.05.
      Hope now it will be clear to you 👍
