This tabletop dobsonian is a great beginner scope. It requires almost zero knowledge and has an easy learning curve. It's very portable. It's robust.
The Intelliscope option allows "push to" guiding to objects - when desired. You can ignore the electronics until you're ready. No power is required.
If portability is required, this is about as good as it gets.
It has wide fields and can support reasonably high powers for Jupiter and Saturn. The moon is stunning.
My only advice: if you can handle a bigger scope, go to a "full-size" 6" dobsonian (or better yet: the extremely capable and versatile 8-inch dobsonians, such as Orion's XT8.
I just ordered the StarBlast 6i the other day. I can't wait for it to get here. Thanks for the video, great work.
How'd you like it, any recommendations? I just purchased the non-i version.
@@warsquirt it’s awesome, wish I was able to use it more, I suggest getting a solar filter too because it’s pretty neat taking it out to look at the Sun sometimes too
Oh yeah: I forget to pack up this entire scope on it's first night out! I had just picked up the scope from OPT in Oceanside for Curie Elementary's Astronomy Night. When I got home after a great night with the kids, parents, teachers and San Diego Astronomy Association (SDAA.org), I opened the van's tailgate and counted scopes. One was missing! I sped back to the school and there it was, all by itself, sitting on the blacktop in the dark. ALWAYS search the area before you drive off!
Thank you for the video, very good advice. I'm going to get this telescope.
The intelliscope is a pain to line up but it's great after the end if your bad at lining up stuff like me
Where could I find a good portable table for the telescope?
I used a dinner tray table and it works really well
I need the dimensions of the box of the telescope
