I recently started a Raven Creek-starting run, being only my second excursion into the city. So far I'm enjoying it having setup in the southern residential area's fenced-off single-storey house, just south of the high-school/college gymnasium where you started. Really enjoying the exploring so far.
Also started a run in Raven Creek, then realized I was by the northen parts where the zombie pop is massive, theres tons of loot but good luck getting it lmao
I took the gated resort area south of Central Raven Creek. Plenty of tall fences with view obstructing hedges, hardware store down the street and a river for fish. This was after I spent at least 10 days fights and hammering a path through the town's main entrance to get my RV into the city.
Keep your eyes open, there are quite a few hidden stashes of weapons and ammo hidden in the city or overrun survivor communities also stacked with ammo.
@@Manslayer-eo1nh Definitely. In just the residential area alone I've found roughly 6 or 7 barricaded survivor homes. I'm not sure if they're randomised like the main game towns or part of the map itself but my character is certainly well-kitted out as a result.
@Jackal326 If you plan to assault the military base northwest, bring all the ammo you can carry.
With Brita weapon pack, under barrel grenade launcher, over 600 shot gun shells and it still wasn't enough.
The hospital and office complex are teaming with filth.
I questioned the realism in Zomboid's calorie system, until my wife turned on a survival show called "Naked and Afraid". Dude lost 52 pounds in 21 days because he could barely secure 400 calories the entire time.

I hope they add a feature where you can wrap your arms with magazines for a bit of bite defence similar to what the mc of WWZ did at the beginning thus giving you the ability to sacrifice a magazine protected arm rather that zombies constantly just biting your neck and giving you a real bad hickey
46:58 The Remington 870 has higher damage than either of The Mossberg shotguns because they both have the "improved" choke, which lowers damage but increases spread. Once you remove it the damage would be equal. I always remove and discard improved chokes and always install the "full" choke whenever I get one, which raises the damage but reduces the spread
Worth noting that RC used to be a lot harder too, there was a point in time where all the good loot spawns and even the main entrance more or less required a sledge.
Granted the payoff for this was more ammo than anyone could ever use, it was still a brutal crawl to get that far through a city so populated it more or less required you to poke with the game's JVM settings.
I still remember the first time I actually got out of the city from spawning in it, pouring rain at 3 AM covered in blood with a trail of spent shells and corpses, just sat out by the welcome sign until the sun came up.
I don't think any other map has even come close to how cool Raven was when it first dropped, and it's still the "alright, we're at endgame, time to go spend thousands of shells doing something really dangerous and stupid" location me and my m8s go to at the end of an MP run.
I just started a ravencreek playthrough a couple days ago and a good base location I use is the police station that’s next to the massive church as you can use roadblocks to cover all the entrances and the zombies never really attack them if you place them correctly essentially creating an indestructible base which has an armoury inside if you can get a sledgehammer
What are the population/migration/heli settings for this run?

Raven creek is the shit storm of all shitstorms for me. The sheer amount of zombie filth with just high settings is unreal.
My highest kill count was 41k until I made a mistake, got cornered, panicked, and died.
Still securing a base and raiding ammo supplies to even have a chance against the literal armies of zombies is great fun.
I just finished the supercut this morning, so to see this posted now is great!

Again, what mod were you even talking about because I doubt you yourself even know it because otherwise you would’ve just provided the name of the mod alongside that statement you just made.

yeah. I burnt myself out playing trying to map raven creek on the ground and... it's special without a doubt. after charting around 75% of the city which id wanted to see off and on for a year, it's really sad that it's due to possibly go away...
No need to worry, it'd be incredibly easy to shift
They wouldn't need to redo the whole map or anything, just need to shift the chosen cells over

@@jwb_666 Personally i can do without NPCs. for me the scale of it all gets to me without others, even NPCs. I tried mods involving NPCs, but the best they can do is be another threat, and the ways to manage those NPCs just didn't pan out for me.
I still feel burnt out from my attempt to map raven's creek. Maybe i should just do a silly run, or a challenge run instead. something about that run didn't feel right. maybe it was the mods.
Finding a car is either rolling a D1 or a D20, I swear...I had one game that I absolutely could not find a key to a working car of ANY sort, didn't get my first car until 2 weeks in when I got the skills to hotwire one. Other games I might find multiple working cars with keys day one.
6:52 This window trick got me killed once. Not because of zombie lunge attack but because zombie decided to attack me trough the window instead of climbing trough it. So I got zombified from a single scratch.

It's a great game! I ha e 2 survivors, my old one with 700 days in (getting...stale) and a new, different one with 180 days surviving. Love every minute of it!😊
In both cases my end-game home is in Luisville. LV is such a ginormous city for a solo player, i think i will never kill them all, the zombies. 30.000 kills and counting 😂
It may not be the same as the old one but I have high hopes for this

Shouldnt you also have the eris minimap mod? To know where the zombies are so youre sure you cleared the zombies from an specific area and dont have to be wasting time securing every floor and room to confirm there are no zombies

No idea why but for some reason watching this made me think that Project Zomboid needs the ability to craft shields. Would be incredibly useful to have to push back or punch zombies while you have a one handed weapon like short blunt in the other hand.
No idea how to translate to the actual game though.

Okay I kind realize after watching some of your videos (and I think I know the answer but) why don't you use the tall fences that the zomboids can't jump and build fatal funnels? Like build some easy walls that channels them in a single line and forces them to travel long way while you smash them and when they get to close just jump over the tall indestructible fences to reset the zomboid pathfinding?
whats more important: watching every episode of life and living, or going out and finding all the books you need and a generator?
You can live without a generator and power. In my mind, watching enough tv to reach level 4 carpentry to make water collectors is incredibly valuable. I should say though, life and living only plays for like the first 9 days (?) of the game, so you could just try to stay around tv's for that long then go find your books and generator after.
@@mich5403 i usually try to stay close to home, loot neighbors, so i can catch the shows. but sometimes i miss a couple episodes. so you think i'm better off just looting enough food to stay home and then make my longer loot runs?

@@antray6848 pretty sure is just leaving combat stance and jogging (shift running) in the opposite direction. Esential for combat when you have low nimble

Not related to the video really, and it's a fairly old video now to even say this on, but don't bother with Opera. Opera is ass, and if stuff like Chrome is causing issues for your ram you need to fix the issue of running out over a browser. I myself use chrome out of simplicity since I use a lot of google docs/spreadsheets/slides/gmail but I've heard stuff like firefox is similar. Opera literally has popup ads of Opera sponsored game stuff on the homescreen, and is obnoxiously cluttered for it being a web browser. Oh yeah they also are paying people to download it on GPT sites, so that speaks for itself. That's how I started using it, and if you are having to pay people 10 dollars to download Opera, you got issues.
