Really cool to see Forbes take notice of how rapidly the wrestling industry is changing and growing since the birth of AEW. Aubrey is easily my favorite Ref because she adds a bit of personality to the matches. Not enough to steal the show but just enough to where you know exactly who's reffing the match because she does have a standout quality to her. I was there live for the TBS Championship finals and of all the Refs, she's the only one that gets cheered when she gets sent out for matches. Nice to see I'm not the only one with some love for Aubrey Edwards, she's great.

On a serious note, pro wrestling is the closest thing we have to Shakespearian Theatre. During Shakespeare's time, the audience cheered and booed, loudly. The actors would even go back and forth with the crowd and even would ask advice on what to say or what to do in his scene. Just like then, rasslin is the purest form of participatory theatre today.

She should be a wrestler, not a ref if she wants to be cheered. She does nothing special, many more experienced male refs have been involved in actual angles when it came to calling matches, they never got this response only because they are not women. There needs to be more female refs to normalise their presence so that they won't be cheered more than the wrestlers (who can't draw to save their life) simply for doing their job as a ref

It's refreshing watching AEW and actually knowing the referees names and how each one has a unique personality
Back in the older days of WWE we knew all the refs names and each had their own personality, Earl Hebner, Mike Chioda, Charles Robinson etc, then eventually they all just became nameless and only referred to as "the official" and they don't say their names at all, or even use the word referee anymore.
Who knows the names of any modern WWE ref? They're all just nameless and have no personality.
Aubrey is the new Earl Hebner, she's the best, she's actually over and liked by fans because AEW lets us know who she is, more than just a nameless "official".

No joke Brittany / Aubrey is such a good referee, she really adds that extra part of the match when the wrestlers are telling their story. I don't think I've ever seen how much of an impact a referee has had on a match or even a storyline since Earl Hebner.
Not taking anything away from the other referees in AEW or WWE, but she is on another level and draws you into the match because she makes everything more believable.

Yeahh!!! Let’s go Aubrey!! I think about things like this like “why are we celebrating the first female ref? Oh bc it hasn’t happened ever in the history of MOST sports.” This is the type of this that shouldn’t be that big of a deal but it is because subtle barriers make things near impossible

I am a man and don't if I am watching a male or female ref. This also carries over to male or female wrestler. I am just looking for some entertainment. If they do that, great! I've watched wrestling off and on since I was a kid... I typically would focus on the wrestlers when I was a kid. When I became an adult I pay more attention to everything I am seeing, instead of being hyper focused on the wrestlers. Audrey, you do a great job! Keep it up!
