I was 10 years old in 1965 growing up in Lahore, Pakistan. These songs were on the radio constantly. Also, war started between India and Pakistan in September 1965, but we were still able to listen to radio India in Lahore. Fond memories of these songs.
I was at Ferozepur across the border, ten years old also . In between war of 1965 , we left for our village. That was best era of the Songs and movies. Rafi was best ever period.
I think class 6 to now my 66 age, I've been obsessed with these actors, music, singers, melodious compositions, and to my mind, it surpasses all other eras, in terms of staying glued due to sheer entertainment and captivity ...
So soothing to the soul. Ofcourse times have changed but, still, cant but miss these old beauties. Even after 60 years, the lyrics come to mind so easily. Current songs dont last more than few months

Rafi was great but full credit has to go to the music composer, in this case Om Prasad Nayyar. Not only for the tunes but also for the various sounds inserted in the songs at just the perfect time.

The “Umrao Jaan era” came much later in the 80s which propelled her to unanimous #1 over her sister during which also her voice peaked in my opinion. All that compounded by the eruption of the “ghazal era” of Bollywood music scene early 80s. I know all of this will be recorded in her timeline or autobiography but it would be nice to see her verbally acknowledge the contribution of OPN and Rafi Saab for her rise as a prominent singer.

The “Umrao Jaan era” came much later in the 80s which propelled her to unanimous #1 over her sister during which also her voice peaked in my opinion. All that compounded by the eruption of the “ghazal era” of Bollywood music scene early 80s.
I know all of this will be recorded in her timeline or autobiography but it would be nice to see her verbally acknowledge the contribution of OPN and Rafi Saab for her rise as a prominent singer.
