Oh no! Graffiti? I walked past 3 overdosing homeless junkies on my 4 block walk to work today. Maybe seattle should get it's priority in order.

Words unheard, do you think that landlords are to blame for king county policy? The landlords who were not even able to evict non paying tenants for the last 2 years? Blaming landlords for graffiti is so nonsensical. Are the landlords spray painting the building? Paint is the least of this city's problems.

this is just something easy for them to focus on and act like they’re actually doing something when there’s a little less graffiti around

Here’s what they do in Austin, there’s a place called graffiti wall. It’s free paid for property that allows the artists to paint somewhere that isn’t destructive

Keep the state responsible for getting rid of the graffiti! If a business owner can't cover the graffiti, don't fine the business owner, they have a business to run and now since the pandemic they don't have the money or the time, and paint to cover this graffiti up. It just seems that the city of Seattle is being a little too late in controlling what's a continuing to be an eye sore. Also if you can't catch the people doing this how can you prosecute a tagger?

Is it that hard to understand that graffiti is just too large of a subculture to even consider fixing. Graffiti doesn't go away when you take it off the wall, it comes off when when the graffiti artist/ vandal stops his or her love for painting illegally. A lot of these vandals see graffiti as a big part of their life, an escape if you will. So there is no cure, you can paint over walls all you want, but it doesn't erase the love many have for graffiti.

The fact that the use any energy on this is the problem with America. Sure it looks bad but why spend that much of tax payer dollars to paint over it? If your gonna spend money to remove it spend that money to get a real artist to do something great and then others that do graffiti will find new spots… Maybe spend that money to get people off the streets do something that will make a difference not just get painted right back over by graffiti soon as you paint and give them a new fresh wall to BOMB..

Buffing should be the least of our concerns... It is paint on concrete. It looks better than it does after its buffed. Spend more time on homelessness and air quality. Things that actually matter.

There's an article that mentions Ivy as a good way to stop it too, that way it won't be a constant battle to paint over it again and again.

There are no staff shortages. They have their staff working as homeless people across the town. Smoking dope, graffiti,arson, buying and selling dope here on the streets. I been getting death threats because I know this. You all wonder why they are always doing book and release??? Because the majority of the arrests are people your paying out of your taxes. They even have people working in the stores and restaurants, as well as people paid by your taxes to boost from the stores. Why would they do this you ask? Because the more out of hand it looks, the more rights they are going to take from you.

My kids use to call the Mercer Street tunnel, “The Butter Tunnel”, as it used to appear buttery and clean to them until the graffiti arrived and crushed their beautiful outlook of downtown. The taggers have ruined the children's bright-eyed and bushy-tailed outlook of what Seattle represents. I commend the mayor for the efforts to keep Seattle clean and a city that the world looks up to, and not looks down on. We know it's not an easy task with homelessness, crime, drugs and graffiti. Seattle will be a role-model city again at this trajectory.
