The dialogue and wit and sarcasm of Jane Austen is the biggest surprise I think. Plus the commentary on the reality and hopelessness of women’s positions, from a contemporary author’s perspective of that time, is heart breaking and eye opening.
The pinning in Persuasion gets me every time! A great retelling is For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund. It’s Persuasion mixed with sci-fi. I think for Emma and Northanger Abbey you’ll either love them or hate 😂 I personally love Emma :)
I love that duololgy! The sequel, an adaptation of The Scarlet Pimpernel, is one of my all-time favorites. The romance was so sweet combined with some mystery.

All great stories by Austen. Persuasion my favourite.

Happy to be the 100th like lol. Great video!
I’ve only been waiting for forever for this video lol. ♥️🌸
Awesome video! How did you get fun from reading Jane Austen ? Because I can’t get into it. I have Persuasion and so far.
Great take on badass Jane Austen..
Ang Lee had directed an adaptation of Sense and Sensibility that I really enjoyed (not sure how faithful it is though!)
