Dave Sparks is an entrepreneur, custom vehicle builder, and social media personality from Salt Lake City, Utah, who goes by the name “Heavy D.” Since he was little, Dave has been fascinated by anything with an engine or wheels. His most famous creation is the “Mega Ram Runner,” and you should check it out - it’s totally badass.
Dave went to college to study welding, mechanics, and fabrication, but after his first semester, he decided that he could learn more from real-world experience than from books and lectures. He worked for his uncle’s construction business and handled heavy machinery while learning the ins and outs of running a business.
In 2009, Dave met the girl of his dreams. One year later, they were married, and he opened a small used car lot. Then he began to build his dream company, DieselSellerz, which builds badass trucks. That childhood dream of his really came to fruition.
But Dave didn’t accomplish all this by being comfortable. He had to take risks and stretch himself in order to make things work. He took the responsibility of achieving success upon himself and didn’t expect it to be handed to him.
In this interview, we talk about how he achieved that success, focused on self-improvement, and invested in healthy relationships. So buckle up and get ready for Episode 923 with the incredible Dave Sparks.

Don’t play with your tongue so much while people are talking it’s distracting
The best way to grow and to reach your next level as a person is to FACE your fears. If you are feeling uncomfortable, afraid & out of place. Realize that YOU are in a position to GROW. Your body & your old ways are fighting back trying to keep you in the same place. That which you seek (happiness, change, fulfilment) will be on the other side of your fears. "Do what is hard and life will be easy, do what is easy and life will be hard"
Home town Guy ! I one my my Utah family ! I lived in North Salt Lake and have seen Heavy D at the Maverick many times before I even knew the guy ! With that said I sure admire his standards of life and Values !!! Massively Huge !!

I disagree w/ your point Lewis, I think pain (depression or just wanting to resolve a personal challenge) ultimately is what motivates ppl (even leaders and “successful” ppl”) to pursue growth and development at first. Then it becomes kind of like look at this seed I’ve planted and it’s sprouts are so amazing, let me continue on this journey and be better and stronger, more successful. But I think our unique personal challenges (we all have something) always is the thing that spurs us down this road. If everything was peachy keen we would never be motivated to change. I love what Dave says about his dad and parents being role models, never complaining about their adversity, working through it-modeling everything will be ok. How refreshing. Learning the value of hard work.

YES!!! Become comfortable being uncomfortable. Go to the donut shop and order a cheeseburger with a super serious face... Then start looking for your money. The looks, the rejection (NOs & scoffs), and the laughs you get will amaze you. When they say no, just say, "Wow, I really wanted a cheeseburger. You guys should consider selling them. Thanks." And... Walk out. Try it in various places where you KNOW the item you ask for isn't there. Baby steps... They work
