14:51 "Hi-ho, Silver!"
While this line probably isn't unique to the 101st, it still gave me a giggle.
Thanks, Ross, for everything.
I love how the Artillery killed your own pathfinders and the notification was "enemy pathfinders destroyed"
Guess it just makes you feel a little better.
Vulcan. Listen Vulcan. Don't stop doing the things you're doing. Always happy to see when your daily episodes are up!
Also let me get this straight. Each observer gets to strike 3 times? Really makes me feel like the risk of having an on map battery is far too high in comparison. Excited to get my hands on the game but hoping they balance that out a bit :).
i saw Germans with Thor killing whole army xD i think it should be limitted to get one per game until you have no strike available.
I won't be stopping any time soon, don't worry!
Vulcan and Sauce, you guys have identical voice. I don´t even know. :D Good to see you three playing together. :)
Yes, very true. The only way to tell them apart is to listen closely; as Vulcan sounds likes he's fresh from the streets of sussex, and for Bolt, you can just make out the sound of him tapping his wooden shoes under his desk as he plays.
:D
lol
3:45 ah the PACER test
That's the one!
I think recon (or command) units in proximity to areas that are going to be hit by artillery should give a warning. The higher the veterancy of the unit, the more warning they give. From 5 seconds to 20 seconds. Perhaps they spot the rounds coming in, or it's just tactical awareness. Spotting the enemy crouching etc.
I also think infantry should be able to dig in foxholes.
Definitely an interesting idea. It's amazing what people can come up with.
Dat shore bombardment.
Something they could do to possibly balance off map artillery strikes is audio/visual clues. Maybe when you first call in the strike, or at some point during it (when they would actually 'fire') have there be a large cannon sound. Because the ships in the distance, or artillery in the distance is firing. And then once the rounds reach the map, have them travel across the map just like mortar/howitzer rounds normally do. Its a thought and it would nerf them a little bit, while not nerfing them to the ground (like a flare might do).
Yeah I think a sound cue would be a nice addition too.
Great teamwork.
I'm love company of heroes, one can see the soldiers the tanks the details and the carnage of war. I had a great expectation for this game, but I can only see red an blue dots. I know you can zoom in but is not fusible to zoom and enjoy the combat due to the complexity and size of the battlefield. In other hand I'm still waiting for a game that it combines RTS with first person shooter, something like brothers in arms when you can direct the game from above and jump to a single player.
Flamethrowers in an airborne deck? I expect a deck overview for the 101st Airborne to explain yourself :O
AvengerMKII the 101st have 2 decks of flamethrower 11 man squads available I think it's really useful for them considering they are an infantry division. But they are not over powered unless you have like 2 versus 1 unit senerio. I been trying to become an expert at the 101st. You just gotta really use their 100pt start advantage and their infantry manpower to the fullest. Otherwise by phase B the Germans will have tanks and the positions to maneuver.
Curahee!!!
middle of enemy should not cost high points for tanks-----trees need more "firebat" engage close range,i think
What a great game. That artillery is something else!
It's very strong at the moment.
You know what watching Steel Division makes me want to do?
It makes me want to play Company of Heroes
I much prefer the scale of Steel Division but CoH is a good game.
RE: Off Map, I think LOS would balance it well. That, at least, would give a chance for a long gun to snipe the Obeservation Post unit.
I thought it was a good idea and it has passed the developers now. Unfortunately it won't be implemented due to a large coding change needed.
Shame.
You guys do realize that all the guys on the ships need is a map coordinate, right?
And those guns can range from 12 to 20+ miles...
So all the observer needs is a report from a front-line unit to say, we need fire on this grid coordinate...
I'm not sure why that's OP or so difficult to understand. That's the way artillery works.
yes, but if you keep making the observer units, you keep getting the ability to fire multiple barrages simultaneously. It is as if just making more observer units spawns more battleships instantly!
My issue isn't with realism, it's balance. Currently bringing in off map has no risk. It can spend the whole game not being seen and pay itself off 4 times over. No counter play is not fun. Even when you do spot it, most observers have armoured vehicles that aren't punishable enough.
One or two OP units per phase would be good I think
I think the price needs to go up on the 380mm off map battery. The naval battery of the 6th airborne and 101st airborne murder with that. Maybe the ring needs to be smaller too.
Yeah I think these are both reasonable changes that could definitely be implemented in the future.
I liked Wargame Red dragon; but I always felt I'd have perhaps enjoyed it more if it were slower paced, just so I could have time to take in all the awesomeness lol; would you say that Steel Division is slower in pace and more manageable than Wargame due to the overall slower and less mobile nature of the vehicles in this era?
It's quite a bit slower and much less micro. All about positioning. I loved RD but sucked at it. I feel a bit more in control in SD.
I like it much more than RD. The 3-phase system works really well, and every vehicle has its place, unlike RD.
I think Steel Division is more manageable, yes, but if you don't have the right strategy you can be punished hard.
Off map artillery doesn't need line of sight for the spotter? madness
Doesn't look like that change will be implemented either.
Max Bailey Madness? This is Normandy !! (i know im late)
is there an option to customize the game for 'no offshore artty?"
Might be an interesting idea, but currently no.
I played against Bolt one time and had a really good game with him. It was really good and hard fought. Probably would have been better if he wasn't supporting another part of the map with units.
Yeah Bolt definitely knows what he's doing.
looks a lot like "Order of war"
when your ab rifles miss their bazooka two times in a row

How "f'ed" are you on on Cheux 2v2 with the airborne division? Just played a game and we got destroyed by all the heavy armor and mg42's the enemy could bring in. With all the open ground there is no way you could destroy their tanks efficiently. Infantry pushes are near impossible aswell. I mean you could take the town but the other open side is a breeze for the german mech/armor. My 2v2 partner played the scottish deck. Maybe we need an other 2v2 deck combination :/
If you have a 101st airborne then using 50 cals is a great way to maintain control. Make sure you create your own cover with smoke and you should be ok.
