If you compare it to Xenoverse 2, there are 30 dlc characters in Xenoverse 2 that come in the base game of SZ. This is the most extensive roster we had since Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Raging Blast 2 yet people act like it's as small as the FighterZ roster.
It's crap. Budokai Tenkaichi 3 had nearly as many (161), and that was released 17 years ago. Frankly, the character selection was way more interesting too. They had characters like Arale and Grandpa Gohan.

The only thing i'm not liking in this game is character select screen. I love those classic arcade style screens where while choosing the character a big character picture appears without any 3D model animations.
That’s how the game works. You can choose to start with any transformation, however, if you start at base and manually transform mid fight, you get increased health and stats compared to if you had started the fight already transformed.

Budokai 3 was so much better, imagine instead of having 20 Gokus you just get the base form with different outfits, and then transform into different forms in battle. I wished they remade Budokai 3 instead of Tenkaichi 3

Cell(perfect form) is before he self destructs in the show/manga, Perfect Cell is after the self destruction when he comes back strong with a ssj2 like aura
@mcoeif it's def not just have a preference for bt3 with sub slotting. Looks weird to give their transformations full slots when all you need is their base form. Click on them if you want to start a specific form instead of genuinely separating each form. Makes it look less cluttered to just attach the transformation to that version of the character. half of the slotting here doesn't need to be there. That way you're looking at maybe only 8 different gokus with transformations attached to them. Same result better organized
Watching the comment seccion only confirms the community is full of crybabys😂 I mean, i get the complains about main villians like Super 17 or King Demon Piccolo, but outside of that, the roster is pretty complete for me. It has all the characters i want and more. Saldy, even if the game has 300 playable characters, people will still be crying😂
Im surprised they didnt use the Roster image They showed in the promos as the character selection screen with the Hexagons, rather that this grid. Its fine as is, i just think the hexagons looked bettet
No Vegeta GT, Trunks GT, Super 17, other Dragons, no Tao Pai Pai, King Piccolo, Nam, Jacki Chun, Granpa Gohan, Andorid 8, Arale and other amazing characters i hoped for. I dont care about Super, I care about classic DB and DBGT.
Same, I care a lot more for DB, Z, and GT. Super I don't really care for, there's not many memorable characters in Super outside of Beerus, Zamasu, and Goku Black.
From what I recall BT3 had the slots in rows. 5 of those rows had a different version of Goku and Vegeta (And I think Gohan too?), while the rest of the characters in the row would change like having Nappa and Raditz in the first row replaced by Frieza and Ginyu in the second, then Cell and Gero, Buu and Babidi, etc. Then you press X to choose one of those 5 Goku or Vegeta slots which presents you with a new row containing any possible transformations/fusions along with the base form, allowing you to start in whichever form you want. A much cleaner way to do it for sure.
a lot of characters in this game and yet there's a lot of varients of certain characters. if you were to put all the varients into their represented character, there would be 75 characters in total.
Oh men i miss so much the classic Dragon Ball characters, but well, at least we have a very extended roster, i hope in the future they ad new characters of the classic Dragon Ball, Super 17, and from other games, like Miira, Towa, Fu, Chronoa and the Android 21.

@@Royson2004 they have different movesets and special attacks as well, saiyan saga goku can only use the small spirit bomb, wich is the one he used against Vegeta, end Goku can use it's giant version because it's the one he used to kill kid boo
Yet one version of Goku is missing, the young pre-adult version when he was fighting Piccolo at the end of Dragon Ball in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai Tournament. (Goku could do a Kamehameha with his feet at that point!) There is a DLC in DBZ Kakarot where you can play as that version of Goku. Definitely would be cool to see it included!
I honestly want the ladies in on this: Bulma in a mech suit of her design, Chi Chi with moves from her PS2 Super game, maybe even Cheelai as a joke character with Lemo popping in.
Interesting note, all forms of Baby Vegeta and Omega Shenron use the (GT) label while characters like Cell, Raditz, Zamasu and Jiren have no need to use the (Z) or (Super) labels given that they only appear in those series. Does this imply the potential of Omega Shenron (Super) or Omega Shenron (Daima) perhaps?

I miss the new forms from the manga current arc (ultra ego vegeta, beast gohan, orange piccolo, goku true ultra instinct and black frieza) but i also miss future trunks super saiyan 2 and super saiyan 2 rage. Apart from that, great cast overall. Don't know if i missed it but i also would like king vegeta and z bardock
They lowkey went backwards with characters selection. I always imagined BT4 to have the whole roster of BT3 plus the new additions from Super. Instead, they took out most of the movie, GT, original DB, even some non canon characters like Pikkon to make way for Super characters.

Long hair Videl is there, is a costume for the character that can be buyed at the Shop, also, i think hearth disease Goku is also available as a costume for the character.
I hope we get the movie henchmen as dlc.Salaza, Turles's men, 14 and 15, Bojack and Slug's men. I'm not going to be happy about the Daima characters. Who wants to play as them?
They didnt even give ginyu goku body character!!! : (he supposed to be there and have an ultimate with the ginyu force so we can actually play this character without the purpose doing body change technique
The game looks awesome but i wish they made a better select screen, it has every transformation as separate slots which is pretty bad, they should have the sub slots like BT3. It also looks bland and generic. I would prefer a more stylish screen, it seems kinda emotionless tbh but hey the game is great.

Agreed, between this and one map for local play, I can pass on this game. The Budokai and Tenkaichi games had so much character. This series is now a shell of it's former self. Anyone who thought they'd go any further than what they've been showing us is a fool.
What about Dragon Ball Super: Superhero. We need Gama 1 , Gama 2 and maybe the doctor in this game, with base outfits and battle torn! ( for more selection) I know personally that they would make the entire game for me.🛸
This is fucking amazing but they misses the best version of future Trunks from the movies. Longer hair and ripped sleeves. They also skipped out on Giant Piccolo and Piccolo with his cape and turban on. Are there alternate skins where you get that? They should ditch the different versions and have them turn Super Saiyan during the fight.

I get it this is your first time the Tenkaichi series. Goku having a "billion" forms is literally the point of this series lol. Unlike in Xenoverse tho, each form of Goku has a COMPLETELY diffrent moveset from one another. Tenkaichi has always been about quantity. If this isn't your cup of tea, you can just always go back to Xenoverse.
What about Granolah, Gas, Moro, Orange Piccolo, Beast Gohan, and Cell Max? They're the latest characters. That would literally print money if they were here. Not to mention that there aren't any OG Dragon Ball characters besides young Goku.
Orange Piccolo, Beast Gohan and Cell Max are likely to be in the dragon ball super hero dlc pack that is already confirmed. As for manga characters like Granolah, Gas, Moro, Merus, Black Frieza and Ultra Ego Vegeta, they can't be added because they haven't appeared in the anime yet, because bandai doesn't have the rights for the manga, only for the anime.

I mean, i get the complains about main villians like Super 17 or King Demon Piccolo, but outside of that, the roster is pretty complete for me. It has all the characters i want and more.

No Vegeta GT, Trunks GT, Super 17, other Dragons, no Tao Pai Pai, King Piccolo, Nam, Jacki Chun, Granpa Gohan, Andorid 8, Arale and other amazing characters i hoped for. I dont care about Super, I care about classic DB and DBGT.
Same, I care a lot more for DB, Z, and GT. Super I don't really care for, there's not many memorable characters in Super outside of Beerus, Zamasu, and Goku Black.

Nice but don't remember Goku or Vegeta taking up slots, you pressed the down or up arrows to change forms or am I wrong?
From what I recall BT3 had the slots in rows. 5 of those rows had a different version of Goku and Vegeta (And I think Gohan too?), while the rest of the characters in the row would change like having Nappa and Raditz in the first row replaced by Frieza and Ginyu in the second, then Cell and Gero, Buu and Babidi, etc. Then you press X to choose one of those 5 Goku or Vegeta slots which presents you with a new row containing any possible transformations/fusions along with the base form, allowing you to start in whichever form you want. A much cleaner way to do it for sure.

Oh men i miss so much the classic Dragon Ball characters, but well, at least we have a very extended roster, i hope in the future they ad new characters of the classic Dragon Ball, Super 17, and from other games, like Miira, Towa, Fu, Chronoa and the Android 21.

Is there a specific reason for why goku early and goku mid are different characters even though they look the same? Do they have different attacks I have wondered that. I have played tenkaichi 3 before. I guess I am wondering why someone would want to be a goku who can’t transform
Goku early only has kaioken, that's all, Goku mid is goku from the frieza battle to cell So SSJ1 and all the tecniques he had.
You definitely DID NOT play Tenakichi 3 if the differences between Early, Mid and End Gokus have to be explained to you in 2024. STOP LYING.

@@Royson2004 they have different movesets and special attacks as well, saiyan saga goku can only use the small spirit bomb, wich is the one he used against Vegeta, end Goku can use it's giant version because it's the one he used to kill kid boo
It's all about the skillset. One of the most iconic supers in previous games was Goku's Meteor Combination and only Goku Mid had it.

Yet one version of Goku is missing, the young pre-adult version when he was fighting Piccolo at the end of Dragon Ball in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai Tournament. (Goku could do a Kamehameha with his feet at that point!) There is a DLC in DBZ Kakarot where you can play as that version of Goku. Definitely would be cool to see it included!
I honestly want the ladies in on this: Bulma in a mech suit of her design, Chi Chi with moves from her PS2 Super game, maybe even Cheelai as a joke character with Lemo popping in.
That weak ass character select makes it difficult for me to be really want to invest in this game. Fighterz had a much better character select screen

Interesting note, all forms of Baby Vegeta and Omega Shenron use the (GT) label while characters like Cell, Raditz, Zamasu and Jiren have no need to use the (Z) or (Super) labels given that they only appear in those series. Does this imply the potential of Omega Shenron (Super) or Omega Shenron (Daima) perhaps?

They lowkey went backwards with characters selection. I always imagined BT4 to have the whole roster of BT3 plus the new additions from Super. Instead, they took out most of the movie, GT, original DB, even some non canon characters like Pikkon to make way for Super characters.

Long hair Videl is there, is a costume for the character that can be buyed at the Shop, also, i think hearth disease Goku is also available as a costume for the character.
I hope we get the movie henchmen as dlc.Salaza, Turles's men, 14 and 15, Bojack and Slug's men. I'm not going to be happy about the Daima characters. Who wants to play as them?

The game looks awesome but i wish they made a better select screen, it has every transformation as separate slots which is pretty bad, they should have the sub slots like BT3. It also looks bland and generic. I would prefer a more stylish screen, it seems kinda emotionless tbh but hey the game is great.

Agreed, between this and one map for local play, I can pass on this game. The Budokai and Tenkaichi games had so much character. This series is now a shell of it's former self.

This is fucking amazing but they misses the best version of future Trunks from the movies. Longer hair and ripped sleeves. They also skipped out on Giant Piccolo and Piccolo with his cape and turban on. Are there alternate skins where you get that?
They should ditch the different versions and have them turn Super Saiyan during the fight.

Could’ve had 17, the shenrons, other movie heroes, villains, I mean for fucks sale, give us king cold. I get it this is your first time the Tenkaichi series. Goku having a "billion" forms is literally the point of this series lol. Unlike in Xenoverse tho, each form of Goku has a COMPLETELY diffrent moveset from one another. Tenkaichi has always been about quantity. If this isn't your cup of tea, you can just always go back to Xenoverse.

Orange Piccolo, Beast Gohan and Cell Max are likely to be in the dragon ball super hero dlc pack that is already confirmed. As for manga characters like Granolah, Gas, Moro, Merus, Black Frieza and Ultra Ego Vegeta, they can't be added because they haven't appeared in the anime yet, because bandai doesn't have the rights for the manga, only for the anime.
