I had a Kent Walmart bike for 3 years. I used it everyday to and from work, roughly 20 miles a day. I rode it to the ground. The wheels were the first to die, then I replaced that. Then the pedals and cranks. Next was the quill and bars broke down. Then lastly the bottom bracket constantly needed replacing, found out it was the threads. They were too damaged and because of that kept breaking bottom brackets. I spent a lot of money upgrading, then constantly repairing it. It was my first fixie and I learned a lot from it.

If it were a mountain bike, you'd have broken derailleurs, stem, cranks, chain, brake levers, brake pumps, and most likely a jacked up fork. Oh, and the frame might not be use able anymore and you might get some torn carbon fiber. A bmx bike may be fine, but most bikes would crumble.

Fixed Gear means one gear only. The correct terminology is Fixed Wheel and Walmart knows it that is the reason why they have used the fixed gear one. It fooled you guys but it shouldn't have.

You can break any bike by throwing it off a building. I have a wal mart Fixie and have ridden it for 2 years on and off road. In fair weather and foul including snow it has not broken yet.
