    I am not surprised at all that this has happened simply because Labor keeps talking about stopping climate change while Europe, the UK, Canada and the US are talking about lowering CO2 emissions.
    The difference in communication is obvious because by pushing the emergency, end of the world climate change alarmism, it gives Labor the implicit authority to play roughshod over voters by expedient implementation of its ideology without having to give any regard to democratic processes. In other words, it is a licence to rule by decree under the pretence that we are in a climate emergency rather than adopt the more rational and more difficult narrative of the need to reduce CO2 emissions.

      We can use a mix of wind, solar, gas, hydro and geothermal, all relatively cheap options.
      The nuclear designs that are being proposed don't exist yet, in theory some of them could be quite economical especially the designs from Terra power if they pan out, they are proposing to reduce the regulatory requirements by seperating the nuclear and power generation units which would result in a cheaper more cost effective plant that could be commissioned sooner. But again, the design is just that, a design which is unproven.
      Coal isn't the answer, it's by far the worst option for us mere mortals, more radioactivity has been released into the environment from coal fired plants then the combined total of that put out by the nuclear industry.

      The Australian Energy Regulator sets the benchmarks for consumer power prices. When they released the benchmarks for 2023/24 they gave the main reason as outages at coal plants over the last 2 years forcing expensive gas to be used to fill the gap. In the winter of 2022, up to 14 out of 47 coal generators were offline at once. Callide C is only just coming online after a catastrophic explosion in May 2021 that caused blackouts in SE Qld and into NSW. It had another unit offline for months due to a cooling tower problem All that is going to cost over $400 million to fix at the latest estimate

    $1.5B USD to restore a decomissioned reactor at a functioning plant, so how much is our electricity going to cost with nuclear considering we would be building from scratch.
    I'm not opposed to nuclear as a green option but lets not kid ourselves, it is going to cost more, pamphlet aside from the lobby.

    Nuclear doesn't "compete" with renewables, it makes them utterly pointless. Why bother with costly wind farms and Solar that have a 20 year life span and only provide intermittent power when nukes provide consistent and cheap electricity?
    Nukes in the USA sell power at about 7 cents/KWH. What were you charged in your last power bill?

    I would say that renewables would complement Nuclear as the reliable baseload power source, not vice versa. Blackouts and $Blowouts are all we can expect from Bowen's and Labor/Greens push for 100% renewables, with more expensive energy bills.

      As a miner, hate to say this, 9000 hours of heavy diesel machinery to get your the resource's for your 1 tesla, care to explain how that is green ?
      How many hours do you think we will need for them giant batteries ?
      Your green dream renewables is a scam.
      Plus a couple of side notes, a tesla on fire in California used two fire trucks and 1 million liters of water before the got it out.{ not very green wasting all that water, all those toxic chemicals in the air}
      Just think about when you have a multi crash on a highway involving burning electric cars.
      Yes it happens more than our censored media tells us.
