Just watched it. The scene where the four Ultramarines are destroying those heretic scum is frankly unbelievable. So incredibly brutal. The power, weight and presence of Marines is displayed well here. So excited to see what Henry brings to Warhammer now that he has confirmed it through his Instagram.
I seriously doubt the "Cavillhammer 40k" project will go anywhere. Amazon is dead set on trying to change how the project will be done which Cavill has been fighting against. If they don't let the crew behind it do a faithful adaptation then they will get a shit product that casual fans hate and diehard 40k fans will loathe. Big corporations never want to do faithful adaptations because they want to make products that appeal to the largest audience.
The episode is so damn good, the telling the story through violence is so accurate. And is how 40K should be told, this episode was some solid work and immensely enjoyable.
I feel it, I watched it twice, back to back and I will watch it again for days/weeks/months/years to come. The chills were real and I pleasure grunted throughout.
I love D&D and I loved the episode they made for it. I’m not as familiar with 40K as many of you, I’ve read a little about it and know enough to paint a decent picture… but damn that episode looked and felt brutal it’s definitely my favorite one of the season. Testosterone Galore. As a female I think I grew a freaking beard 😂
A 19min episode made me finally subscribe to Amazon Prime. I want to support more Warhammer 40K content like this, its what many of us have been waiting for.
I've only heard or seen Warhammer related things growing up on the occasional basis, but only recently did a close friend get me deeper into the 40k universe buying my first Combat Patrol box a few months ago. Since then, I've been buying more, reading the Horus Heresy, and ingesting all I can about this new universe. This episode cemented my absolute love for something that I haven't felt since I was a child. The animation, action, and how simple yet terrifying everything felt was unreal. I had goosebumps and a smile on my face the entire time. I can't wait to see Amazon build off this hype and hopefully this gives them enough proof there is a massive demand for a full series!
I really liked it, particularly the animation of the Marines' movements and the weirdness of the Tzeentch sorcerer. The sound design was impeccable. However, I can't help but be reminded of that first Ultramarines film where characters simply walk through abstract fog landscapes. Just when I felt that an actual story beat was about to unfold, it ended. I guess I wanted a longer thing to accommodate more story.
This episode gives me hope to what Amazon can do with the IP. The animators did a great job in showing just how fast Space Marines really are even in several tons of ceramite.
I’m cautiously optimistic, but I think it might have been a better plan to have this stay in the realm of 3D animation, so many things can go wrong with live action with casting, acting, tone, budgeting and just general direction.
@@WhiskeyThieves Oh yeah, i agree. I can imagine Warhammer live action to be more grounded. Like detective style show about inquisitor or someone serving the inquisition, or horror. But if the show about Astartes and other things that are on more grander scale. Full 3D animation works better there. Unless they have budget of Avatar to pull off live action with seamless 3D blend they better to stick to full 3D.
I loved this shit! It was masterful and I WANT MORE. Mr. Tim Miller and company...that was a masterpiece and we cannot wait to see what else is in store😎
I watched it with great anticipation and it far exceeded what i imagined! As the end credits rolled i thought to myself, "ah, finally. Warhammer is soon to be a mainstream and recognizable franchise."
Just started getting into warhammer40k over the last 3 years or so, and this was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I’m 3years in and still feel I haven’t even touched the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to lore. WH40k is such a massive universe.
That part where they slid down the cliff - throughout that whole sequence, i had the Cities of Death book going through my head, where they said Space Marines can't fall more than like 6-8', or their weight would crush them (something like that).
The demon was really brilliant design, but my favourite piece of animation of the whole thing is the first space marine collapsing to the ground, really well done overall.
It was a feast, I felt nourished in my spirit, something without the garbage that they force into your head these days, simple and beautiful, one of the best 19 minutes of entertainment I have ever had.
I think the 'show dont tell' approach to storytelling (little to no dialogue) was probably inspired by Syama Pedersens 'Astartes' who is in the credits for this episode.. . . and I think that is quite telling in how it turned out (amazing!!). For a start is really sets the right tone for a grimdark reality, but it also plays into the instinctive, almost mindless drive of a Space Marine. . .and getting that feel right is what all us 40k fans have been wanting for ever, something that really does the business-like brutality justice! A glorious triumph!
I loved it! I'm really surprised how they pay homage to the ip It's not your classic hollywoody thing filled stereotypes and movie tropes, it actually feels like a high budget warhammer show/episode/short Having watched the first 8 episodes of the show, I believe it's one of the best episodes (IMO only being topped by UE Tournament and Armored Core)
I appreciated the small hints towards Titus' backstory. My favorite besides the very end was when the Ultra marines minds were invaded. All but Titus's pupils became saucers. Just to show that Chaos no matter how hard they try. They can't break him.
I also literally had to hold back tears of pure joy watching this. Idk as soon as they started hacking and killing...I was just absolutely blown away with how perfect the representation was! This is what we've been waiting for, literally video of this great franchise/stories brought to life. I cant wait to get more. 40k has so much to explore!
It was glorious... I imagine myself watching the siege of terra in a gigantic triple A movie in cinema one day and shedding tears of joy when I see Sanguinius defending the Lions Gate.
I loved how the child's massive sword he was dragging turns out to be Titus dagger when he becomes a marine. Just brilliant how they managed to put to scale how big a marine is
it was awesome, but what was transpiring with the "battle" (if you could even call it that) with theTzeenth witch thing? Was he killing them with their own fears? Or with memories of heinous things they did? How did Titus kill it? I honestly didn't know what was going on, only that it was freaky and amazing to see. So please, someone be kind enough to break it down :D
I've been a fan of 40K for a number of years, played several of the video games, read most of the Horus Heresy, as well as Eisenhorn and Gaunt's Ghosts, Storm of Iron was the first book in this universe I ever read, pretty sure. And yes, this episode felt really good, in some ways "Astartes" fan film was better, but I'm glad to see the creator of that work getting his name in the credits. Hopeful for many more 40K shows in the future.
For me, the pinnacle of Fantasy super soldier was always John 117. Once I saw the Astartes short on RUclips, playing SM2, and now getting to watch this short… I think space marines are my new favorite super soldier from any IP. They are the definition of sigma.
This is one of the only examples of where you get a sense of how tough the power armour is. There are too many shows and games out there that hype it up only for it to be pierced quite easily by bullets or enemies with claws etc. I want to see more of this, Ultramarines taking out squadrons single handedly, showcasing their inhuman strength and resilience. I can only hope that the further Amazon GW show leans heavily into the violence and brutality. I’d love to see more scenes where a space marine leans into their implants such as the rapid clotting of blood when they are bleeding or their ability to sustain themselves in deadly environments for other humans.
Loved it. I'm a warhammer fan boy though. I think it captured the universe well. Little dialogue, but it doesn't need it. "Show, don't tell" People who are interested will leave the episode with questions. Those questions will lead to research and so...fall down the rabbit hole! Absolute Cinema
If this was a canon episode, Titus will survive the suicide mission. The Emperor speaking to him in SM2 is too much of a plot armor device for Leandros to be able to kill him off that easy.
I almost wanted to say to the demon as he was about to get in that one marine’s head (don’t want to spoil it)… “Hey demon, I wouldn’t go in there if I were you.”
I watched the trailer yesterday, I immediately signed up and watched it twice! 😂 I was so positively surprised and I hope this was just the beginning! 😅 Edit: The drop in scene was great, I think they were going for the messed up gravity thing, at least that’s how I understood it.
Seen this and it was dooope!!! I was a big fan of gears of war back in the day so I picked up space marine 2 and fell in love. This universe or whatever is crazy!! There is so much stuff mixed in with what seems to me is Ancient Rome on steroids. This episode was freaking awesome!! Dude shoulder blocked through some kind of freaking war machine. Then the popped some other dudes head like a grape. 15 words spoken but yet the entire story was understood.
Just watched it. The scene where the four Ultramarines are destroying those heretic scum is frankly unbelievable. So incredibly brutal. The power, weight and presence of Marines is displayed well here. So excited to see what Henry brings to Warhammer now that he has confirmed it through his Instagram.
Astartes vs baseline humans isn't a fight, it's pest control.
Dude shoulder blocked through a freaking speeder like it was nada!!! This was the best short I’ve ever saw.
Syama Pedersen's name was in the credits, the Astartes guy!
It has his scent on it
I knew he had something to do with this from the first moment
I was shocked that he wasn’t the Director or Creative/Art Director
yeah i thought so. The way the space marines acted and the camera angles was similar to the astartes animation he made
True Primarch Quality from Syama.
An absolutely incredible episode. "Less is more" and "more is more" were perfectly balanced.
More war?
The design on that daemon was absolutely immaculate. I loved it and genuinely hope someone makes a model or STL of that thing. Genuinely peak cinema.
That wasn't a daemon, it was a mutated human sorcerer! I thought the same until the end credits
The guy that made the "Astartes" fanmade animation worked on this episode, his name appears in the end credits.
Noticed a lot of his inspiration throughout the episode
Looked everywhere in the end credits, I don't see Syama Pedersen anywhere in the credits.
Nevermind, he was there... Dammit, thought he was going tob e more than just layouts.
This whole thing feels like his work as well. Silent professional murder-tanks, weight, atmosphere and finally the bolter scenes
@@2600baud Lay outs are the blueprint of every scene. if he was in on this that means his footprint and style are all over this.
Loved it. We need WAAAAYYY more of this
Give me a FULL length Movie
Even something as small as the chain dragging noise felt like it was heavy af
The episode is so damn good, the telling the story through violence is so accurate.
And is how 40K should be told, this episode was some solid work and immensely enjoyable.
Syama Pedersen is on the credits guys
This animation was by far the best and most accurate marine and tzeench representation we've had
the whole episode screams Syama Pedersen, so good
Because he is in the credits.
This is better than Hollywood.
Its HOW smoothly and anticipatory I EXPECT astartes to fight
I feel it, I watched it twice, back to back and I will watch it again for days/weeks/months/years to come. The chills were real and I pleasure grunted throughout.
The whole series is magnificent. Incredible what they did with Pacman, I would have never have imagined that
YES! OH MAN I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE- wait you enjoyed what they did with pacman.. right? :3
Dude I was hesitant with pacman but that was grim dark and unexpected
Pacman episode was insane ❤ it would have been my favourite, but Titus is Titus 😎🦾
Its a crashed tau ship and pacman is a trapped slaaneshi daemon 😂
Yeah, Warhammer aside, the Pacman episode was insane.
That was one of the most exciting sequences I’ve ever seen in an animation
I love D&D and I loved the episode they made for it. I’m not as familiar with 40K as many of you, I’ve read a little about it and know enough to paint a decent picture… but damn that episode looked and felt brutal it’s definitely my favorite one of the season. the armoured core episode was a feast for the eyes and fans
They gave the Ultramarines power axes! Someone knows the lore!
The Tzeentch sorcerer's last though was "We have all failed. The Astartes defy our touch."
A 19min episode made me finally subscribe to Amazon Prime. I want to support more Warhammer 40K content like this, its what many of us have been waiting for.
Thank you Dave, I have been into warhammer since the mid 90s and thus makes me, so, happy to see
I thought it was utterly brilliant. i also go chills watching it....awesome more please
I want a whole universe in this style. So freaking awesome and clearly made by fans for fans
They seriously should play this in the theaters to replace the trailer runs.
The whole thing is so fucking good. Watched it on break at work. Cant wait to get home to watch on my tv with good speakers

Every episode on secret level has hardcore action with a twang of :in the feels:. Beautiful
I understand talking space marines is vanilla, unless it’s the Dark Angels. For the Lion. For the first sons.
We want more.
The whole episode reminded me to the Astartes fan film because of the lack of dialogues and the Chaos presence as a reality distorsion. Just gorgeous.
Because he was involved.
This episode gives me hope to what Amazon can do with the IP. The animators did a great job in showing just how fast Space Marines really are even in several tons of ceramite.

I klnow, right?!?! I CAN'T WAIT to see female custodes!!!!
Terminator armour doesn't even weigh 1 ton so I'm not sure what books you're reading. Probably none

Same.

I'm speechless, I'm not sure where I would put this on how much I loved that vid. More pls.
It was intense and brutal. Perfect 40K. Watch the rest of Secret Level. Some good storytelling.
If this is even half the quality the TV show will be im sold
Cautiously optimistic.
The demon was really brilliant design, but my favourite piece of animation of the whole thing is the first space marine collapsing to the ground, really well done overall.
Pretty sure it wasn't even a demon, but still just a sorcerer
I animated this shot
Please More space marines, more chaos gods, more gore, more action. more, more, more for the love of the emperor of mankind
It was cool to see how fast the Space Marines truly are.
The most strongest feeling I hade will watching it was this is super cool and I want more
It was a feast, I felt nourished in my spirit, something without the garbage that they force into your head these days, simple and beautiful, one of the best 19 minutes of entertainment I have ever had.
Amazing. Tense. Incredible action. More will come
we. want. more.
Never been so hyped watching that

They did good. It's absolutely what 40k needs.
Beautiful, brutal… this is exactly the Warhammer we want
As a new fan of 40K I am privileged.
It was awesome. Hopefully we more like this.
Need hours of these animations
Amazing episode
Watched it twice, absolutely loved it
Putting this on loop will boost your testosterone 500 points!
It needs a series for sure
I also literally had to hold back tears of pure joy watching this. Idk as soon as they started hacking and killing...I was just absolutely blown away with how perfect the representation was! This was probably a job for Grey Knights.
Also I couldn’t help but feel for all the Space Marines ever killed by a grot on the tabletop.
Grey knights are very few. It's extremely rare to have them at hand, and they usually deploy only where there Is insane demonica corruption
100% agree 👍🏻 I think I’ll watch it again 😂
I laughed when I saw what was in the box, that was not even close to what I thought might be in that box. Was awesome.
I so wanted Titus to say "For the Emperor!!" At the end.... but wow!!!!! More please
This 15 minute clip was better than two entire seasons of the Halo show with less than half the budget.
they conveyed the weight of the marines well. very important. from a stand still you could tell that the needed some time to build momentum
I cant wait to see that demon in miniature form.
I wouldn't want to be one of those Heretics just charging down Space Marines.
I honestly was very pleased that they were so covered with dust that it wasn’t so in your face that they are blueberry boys.
It was glorious... I imagine myself watching the siege of terra in a gigantic triple A movie in cinema one day and shedding tears of joy when I see Sanguinius defending the Lions Gate.
I saw it came out while in class. I was and still am bitjng down on my gums to not scream from joy "Blood for the Blood God!!"
Gore approved!
The Coffin was neat
lol. i was like, "What's in the box, dude?! why you draggin that??" It pops open and there's a freakin preist getting ready to pray lol.... so funny
Never leave home without your pocket psyker.
I loved how the child's massive sword he was dragging turns out to be Titus dagger when he becomes a marine. Just brilliant how they managed to put to scale how big a marine is
Loved it... I would love to see how these guys would pit a loyalist vs heretic marine...
When the World Eater supports both Tzeench AND the Ultraboys, you know this is peak cinema
I also want to see more and fully understand the whole (holding back tears of happiness) thing because they did the topic and content perfect justice.
What was a that? A Tzeentch sorcerer or prince?
Now I want to Garviel Loken on Istvan III.
Totally Amazing and it gave me goose bumps!! Thank you Dave, Keep up the great work!!
Absolutely the best animated thing I have seen for Warhammer (40k or AoS) since I saw Astartes for the 1st time.
it was awesome, but what was transpiring with the "battle" (if you could even call it that) with theTzeenth witch thing? Was he killing them with their own fears? I need a 3hr Warhammer 40K 3d animated feature film!! Either the Horus Heresy, the fall of Cadia, or an all out battle against the Tyranids!!
My favorite part was when the Ultramarines went into the more heavily "chaos" area, and their purity seals burned away.
Chonky, meaty, gritty, brutal, grim, powerful episode.
I opened my paints and now I am enticed to paint my Pile of Shame.
For me, the pinnacle of Fantasy super soldier was always John 117. Once I saw the Astartes short on RUclips, playing SM2, and now getting to watch this short… I think space marines are my new favorite super soldier from any IP. They are the definition of sigma.

Titus, revived Guilliman and Malum Caedo, erasing age old ultramarine hatred one person at a time.
