Listening to the part at the end, where we're asking her to predict the future and the mind of Putin? I really liked that she used some emotional language like, "we can't believe it", "we want it to be some other way", because that emotional language plus fact language communicates very well to me in a way I've been wanting and not getting. No wonder she's at the top. I "get" her explanations. She's modern, current. Thanks for sharing.
Another excellent interview- going well beyond the headlines and much appreciated. I've followed this war very closely; I see it as a point of inflection ushering in a revised world order, at least in some ways. We are all off-balance, a new condition that I trace back to the surprise 2016 USA election, followed by a global pandemic and now we have the first major war in Europe since WW2. After 75 years of relative peace and calm, the raft has floated into raging rapids. However, my optimism remains intact for many reasons. In terms of Putin and Ukraine, I am far more positive than most. I see the devastation Putin has inflicted and realize that can never be reversed, but through the smoke and fire I see something that gives me great hope. I have never seen the world community rally so quickly to aid a democracy under attack. Support for Ukraine is being provided in every conceivable way minus the fighter jets and boots on the ground. The surprise in Russian military incompetence has been matched by the shocking strength displayed by Ukrainians and their leadership. When all factors are considered, I believe forces opposing Putin's Last Stand will truncate the war. My ideal scenario has Russia pushed completely out of Ukraine followed by the typical ending for a fascist-like leader that has lost a major military conflict- ugly. Granted, this outcome is likely overly-optimistic given the significant power Putin enjoys but the world is a different place today. Most Russians have internet capability = more access to factual information. And there must be more than just a few people within the Putin inner circle who realize that Russia's future will only grow more dim with each passing day that he remains in power. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
You call Ukraine a "democracy" when backed by USA they overthrew a democratically elected president, when they killed their own people because they voted against joining EU, etc, etc?
What a great interview, Katie. Skilled and personable. And what an interesting interviewee? As an African American man, I always wanted to know if Sabrina Tavernese is part Black.
Don't forget her vast and boundless knowledge of the war in Ukraine! Boy, it's no wonder someone as august and respected as dear old Katie would pick this amazing woman to talk world politics with! I'm so exited I could just puke. On your shoes.
Love her reporting on the average citizen abroad. In describing the Russian people's being exhausted about trying to sort out what the facts and truth, they are shifting their attention where to buy tomatoes sounds a lot like the United States
World War III Has Begun; How It Unfolds Depends on Us We think of the Russia-Ukraine war as a local conflict, but it is much more than that; it is a global war on multiple fronts. The war is not only a military conflict; it is also an economic war of attrition. With skyrocketing gas prices and shortage of staples, people all over the world are feeling the consequences of the war. This war is transforming the entire modus operandi of humanity. Since the dawn of time, we have been accustomed to living by the motto, “survival of the fittest.” By and large, the rule was that the strong determined the rules, and the rules were often abusive toward the weak. Now, it seems like a new mindset has set in: Wanting something and being strong enough to take it does not mean that the world will accept it. The war, therefore, is being fought on the inside no less, and perhaps more than on the outside. Our very makeup is changing from abusive to cooperative, from narcissistic to altruistic. It hurts, and it will not happen without a struggle, but it is irreversible. This is the path of our evolution toward the purpose of our creation-to encompass within us all of creation. To do that, we must come to care for it, just as a mother encompasses her child through her maternal love. The struggle to transition from our current uncaring and mean approach to all creations but ourselves, into wise and compassionate beings is called “the war of Gog and Magog” or Armageddon. Since the war is about our inner makeup, we can fight it within us. If we object to struggling with ourselves over who will rule-the ego or love-the physical reality will force us to choose love nonetheless. However, it will do so by hurting us in a very physical way. The war in Eastern Europe is nothing compared to what we might have to endure if we resist the process. The horrific descriptions of our sages and prophets hint at it, and we would not want to live through it. Alternatively, we can fight this war within us without firing a single bullet. The choice is in our hands. All we need is to continue in the same direction that nature is already leading us: toward connection. If we make an effort to care for one another, even though initially we don’t, then we are moving in the right direction. If we try to resolve conflicts not with guns or even legal battles, but by strengthening the care and friendship between us, then we are saving lives and sparing torments from countless people. In conclusion, let us try to rise above the hatred and see the human on the other side, who suffers too. Let us think that this war was given to us so we would think about each other more than we have so far. After all, were it not for this war, we would not notice one another. Now that it is here, we are no longer indifferent. Although our feelings our currently negative, now that we are aware of them, we can work on them together and turn them around. These are the wars of the Messiah who moshech [Hebrew: pulls] us out of the ego, and into mutual love.
"deep exploration and inquiry- using a specific story and digging into human emotion- much more effective in reflecting the bigger story- more than harder factual news can't convey..... No one catches how myopic this is and how it breeds opportunity for manipulation and delusion, all in the name of spreading American democracy. I'm sorry but how in the world can people say she puts out good journalism? There's so much missing between the mistakes of the cold- war/ American history and how we're fighting another proxy war in Ukraine... No word on what the majority of Ukranians actually want- they want the war to continue? But she's a hero for covering it! At least 10,000 civilians, including more than 560 children, have been killed and over 18,500 have been injured. But let's focus solely on how brave they are- how they don't like Putin, we must stand with them or we don't stand for democracy! Pretty disgusting that the literal fiction of "American democracy" is an excuse to fund and fight proxy wars". Liberals live on protecting the image of America just as much as the GOP. Sabrina has such a wonderful voice - I love listening to her on The Daily.
Sabrina is very wise, thank you for exposing me to her.
You are happily free of an abundance of active brain cells, aren't you, Jeffy?

My thoughts exactly.

Don't get out much do you, Nor?
Sabrina is stunningly beautiful, and very intriguing. I never knew of her existence until I saw her here.
Don't forget her vast and boundless knowledge of the war in Ukraine! Boy, it's no wonder someone as august and respected as dear old Katie would pick this amazing woman to talk world politics with!

Sabrina Tavernise's cadence and manner of emphasis makes me wish I was deaf. Sweet Jesus!
Two intelligent and beautiful women!!!

As always, Sabrina looks absolutely nothing like what she sounds like.

Absolutely, hands down the most intelligent comment on this video so far.
Great job, Sal.
