Lauren. Watched this closley and did not see you or the others with a dive knife. You only have to be hooked by broken fishing line once, Even if orhers are close, if you can not cut you away it will be a very bad day. Some people think that no one is fishing here, you have to remember the boats that are fishing. . A hook and line will last in the water for years. Please stay safe. Great video.
The dive knives were in the dinghy. We don't have any hooks/lines in the water while we are spearing. We do occasionally find old lines and cut them from the reefs if we can
I can appreciate that you aren't allowed to carry a shark rifle (like in Hemingway's day) but a shark dart or bangstick doesn't seem all crazy. You can also get a Trilobyte, an inexpensive ceramic blade version of a seat belt cutter, to cut fishing line. Personally I always carry my dive knife. When a drift net saran-wrapped me and I started going out and down, it was a very welcome companion. Also great for flatfishing, if you know the trick to it.
So great to see you getting to do so much free diving. To spend the day diving with Adam was stellar I imagine. Diving with one of the greatest might have been intimidating. His breath hold is probably much greater then yours Lauren and yours is excellent. Stay safe, and great video.
Duct tape bandaid!! Love it! More of a hankerchief/electrical tape guy myself. Hunting under the ledges with epic photography was awesome. Glad Adam got the ,hug the fish n get it out of the water NOW!! memo. Another Quality episode with beautiful people, thanks for the ride along. Be well
Jippie it’s Thursday! Lauren, you’re one amazing bundle of energy, badaz, grit, gorgaaz and talented. Thanks for letting us have a glimpse of your amazing life. Best wishes.

Great video, so far one of my favourites. Really cool underwater views. Sorry about that cut 😢 We all want you safe and sound. Your happiness is contagious and healing in hard times: keep shining for us, you beautiful star 😘
Very good, some wild spearing under ledges wow, and good fish I'm sure I could feel the hand cut coming, then a strong urge to help you, so glad your clients pitched in to do just that,, take care beautiful friend and ally n mako
Just an fyi. there is a metal glove that you can get to prevent cuts on your non knife hand. they work great and protect against exactly what you did to your finger.
I been waiting patiently Lauren so happy!!! I love sharks!!! Lauren looks vibrant...Ali is a special individual. Positive vibes. I remember when I was dragging for greenies and brownies sometimes we would catch a canary 😋 rock fish 🐠🐟 is The BEST. Duct tape!! A++ for make-do skills! (message to me: remember to bring first help kit if you ever sail with LL). Did I comment about the movie "My Octopus Teacher"? Such a good movie - you must watch it! Wonderful vid as always. I'm so jealous, I just went down to Florida last weekend to look at a sailboat - miss the Bahamas and Caribbean soooo much!
Next time you go to shore get yourself a glass jar and fill it with diesel. If you are by yourself you can pour some onto the wound and your blood will congeal and it won’t get infected. Wash it every 12 hours and pour little bit more diesel on also get yourself some self sticking bandages it’s really easy to wrap the cut and you can have the right amount of pressure by putting tighter and on the last loop around don’t have heaps of pressure and cut to length off the roll and neat cut then just pat the end down and it won’t unravel unless you stopped were you will bump it all the time. Chemists have skin tone ones and eBay has all sorts of colours and designs.
i like the fillet boards with the clamp .. you need a better set up, like put a clamp on that hatch or something. Something, think now and avoid injury later. but i take a hammer and nails fishing, and nail fish tails to a downed tree...that third hand helps keep you from cutting yourself, and it also helps to be working on something solid. the remaining fish don't even want you hurting yourself, because it takes extra energy to heal....then you have to eat more. it's generally when you start losing control of the fish, and your hand instinctively responds to gain control of the slippery shit...anything you can do to keep that to a minimum.
Wow- you are so daring going under those rocks! You deserved a fish 🐟. Nice octopus sighting…was all this when you were catching fish for the big dinner on your boat? Looks like it! Where are you now?
Lauren, I'm not sure I want to say that this was my favorite video so far, because I truly love all of your videos, but it is definitely in the top 5. Just outstanding underwater shots. Never having Speafished before, I learned a lot about the sport, and would love to try it some day. One quick question, when you are freediving, how
If I could teach you,or anyone one thing about using a knife, it is. ""NEVER"" cut towards yourself,or your other hand !!! ALWAYS CUT AWAY FROM YOURSELF. ! ! ! I've seen so many other YOU TUBERS slice their hands open ( one even cut his tendon open requiring surgery in the Bahama's. ! Blue Gabe from Florida
Lauren, sorry by your pain; we can see a courage woman, everything that would do you does for us; no one shark, could made an injury on you, than this does to your self. you`re a Rock 💋☝🔪🤏...Maybe those fishes are telling you now..." How it is feel...🎶🎼🎵",,,. But, so is the life, we need to cut any other species of brothers, for to survive. See you
Hi Lauren, I am a new fan of you and all you are doing. Its good you have the shark spotter in case a very large shark sneaks up. its awesome you all can hold your breath so long? How long and what brand Of boat do you have? It looks modern like a newer one. Thanks for the great videos and I love little Mako
Ohhh my gosh I think I would get addicted to that spear fishing cause I've done lots of bowfishing! Can you bowfish anywhere down there Lauren!? And how long is the waiting list to come on your boat? I really want to try that but I cannot hold my breath that long! I turn purple just watching you guys!! Not really but all I would do is go down to the bottom and have to come back up. 🤔 You cut your finger really close to where I cut mine doing the same thing, fileting a fish! Lol I love your first band aid 🤣 I usually use electrical tape when I'm in the shop haha
@@laurenlanders March?!?! Ooooff. Winter is over in march. 🙁 You should try it! You could probably go along the mangroves and get some redfish or something in your dingy! Lol Be fun! I show a little bit in one of my youtube videos off my airboat but my camera work isn't very good.
Sorry hit send too soon. When you freedive and are spearfishing, how long can you stay down before surfacing? I would imagine it would be shorter because of the excitement and energy burned. As for the sharks, I have lost several fish to them, in the keys while deep sea fishing. You only get half in the boat. Sorry about your finger. You should get a fileting glove. I have worried every time I see you doing it on the back deck of a moving boat. Also carry some liquid skin in your first-aid kit, it will help with deeper cuts. I won't give you the first-aid lesson right now. All in all a great episode. I really mean it. Great underwater shots, a little drama, and a cameo by Mako. Who could ask for more? Looking forward to your next video and where we will go next. Until then, be happy, be safe, and thanks for taking us on your adventures. P.S. Get a glove for fileting glove, please. Sent for real this time.
If I am more relaxed it can be up to two minutes... If I am chasing and not getting enough surface time it decreases a bit and I am generally fileting while the boat is anchored (: Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun editing it
@@laurenlanders I think that is outstanding. I thought I would like to try and test myself, but first I will have to pull off the freeway and stop driving 🚗. i am a USPTO archery patent holder, ( inventor ) ... now designing a sailboat, i am thinking ocean bow fishing, crab traps, and some mollusk knife diving for food ( same barnacle gear ).... i would rather dive in water where there is no blood scent lingering, and i don't like the idea of loosing fishing tackle and not being able to select what i take......bow fishing is less waiting too, if i see it, and want it, it's mine...that way i am not down in the blood scent, more relaxed, and the fight is over while i am pulling it in.
Dispatch and bleed it out quickly to avoid attracting sharks. Sharks like the thrashing and it's good to have a knife so you can stab your buddy to slow them down as you swim away from the shark and your buddy getting eaten. Thanks pal.
