You can also watch the classic movie "The Message" starring Anthony Quinn to get an idea as to how it was in that early age in Arabia when the Revelation of the Glorious Qur'an occured.
The movie is about 40 years old and is on RUclips.
By the way, the meaning of Qur'an is "recitation"..."to recite".
Qur'an was revealed orally by Archangel Gabriel to the Prophet, peace be upon both of them.

Always look at a religion/belief in its entirety for truth. You cannot take one portion and say based on this you understand. The reason God says " you shall not kill" is for very good reason. As a human being you are not God, you are unable to judge and make the decision of life because your flesh is corrupted. Only a righteous holy God can judge. And therefore there is only 1 God that stands apart from every other religion that states there god is God.
