Chris Birch is a local shaper in my area, I have the same board but a round tail and it's an absolute dreamer! It will work in weak swell, but when there is some good energy in the water this board really locks in! So stoked to see one of his boards pop up on your channel!!!
Its so awesome that your cranking out all these vlogs! There nothing better than watching a local Legend who came up from the ashes of despair and became such a inspiration to so many, both young and old alike. Thank you Ben from the bottom of my heart! Great having Mikki Films back behind the camera! All and all, its a win for all involved!
Thats great. I still remember my first board. Surfboards Australia 6' 0 round pin back in 1978. Board gave me the curse and ive been on summer vacation since. I hope some of those kids can get hooked as well. Salt water heals all wounds.
You surfing that quad in 1 ft El Slammo reminds me of one of Zeke's videos where he's surfing in a QSL 1000 contest in the same conditions, trying to stack points. Keep stacking content and building up the body, and then you'll be ready for the next hurricane swell.
Chris Birch is a very close friend of mine. Super shaper and probably one of the best pin line guys ever and east coast legend. Looks like an Accelerator model...never part xith that board. You ought to ride it in some real waves...your size and some bigger surf...you can handle
Thanks for the stoke. May the good surf continue for all! BTW, I'd buy a BG pro-model 41.5" polypro bodyboard with twin channels, crescent tail, and 1 carbon stringer, (now that I gave you the specs. LOL!)
That's so nice that you and Jordan work out together! Looks intense! I'm missing my strength training classes right now since I had surgery 3 weeks ago. I noticed on those deep kettle bell squats that your knees were way out past your toes. As far as I know, this can cause knee injuries, so I just wanted to bring it to your attention out of concern for you. Maybe I'm being a total kook but that's what I was taught so just wanted to share so hopefully it will help you avoid more injury.
... Good to see good-ole' Mr. Gravy back in the water and "up-and-riding". Congrats' on full Recovery and Best Wishes for the future. Glad your buddies' and "Team" are with you and #1 Cameraman (Yarn') have your back and sharing the Stoke... I know it's not your style, but i'd recommend staying a few feet further from the rocks and being a bit more selective about where/when and how you surf. Hate to see any more "Freak" accidents; be patient - consistent swells, deeper (safer ??) and warmer waters are in the near-future. Super hard to dial it back a notch as we age (i know); - but now is not a good time to risk injury in knee-high slop when bigger and brighter things are on the close Horizon. Surf or Die Dogg'
Once they were on the scene all I rode were twin fin fish boards! Due to a back injury I had to quit surfing but I think I would have liked the quads as well!
US$ 850 K for the average house in California . . . what a stupid game. For US$100K here in Southern Brasil . . . you are in a great neighborhood, big lot and 2500 sqft or more with a full outdoor kitchen for BBQ. Or for US$ 200K you could have a very nice beach house equal to what I lived in Orange Country which recently sold for US$ 10 Million
Redbull should sponsor Ben full time. He's nearly pro level but easier reach and 100% more approachable! When's he's doing and not talking he's so much more watchable than 90% of pros out there. Mick fanning rips but I'd rather watch the gravy stoke in 3' mush than fanning robotics at 6' chopes. Slater roosting chest trestles isn't as Stoke. As long as he's got the backing the gravy is all gravy. Stop being thankful for shit, shut the f up and surf!
Ben, any of those exercises good for making pop-ups quicker? I feel like I’m glued to my board when I pop-up and I feel I miss the face of the wave a lot.
Riding one of my Chris Birch boards tomorrow morning. Great shaper in Central Florida, glad to see you with one!
Out of the shed and into the "shred"

Where can you get Chris Birch boards? How come he didn’t film the other dude surfing?
What's the down-low on your injury bud....are you pain free.?
Once they were on the scene all I rode were twin fin fish boards! Due to a back injury I had to quit surfing but I think I would have liked the quads as well!

Oh wird!🦅🕺
Flat floats
All surfboards float. A flatter board maintain speed in soft or more gutless waves
You do not see this kind of stoke and community on the west coast. Keep on keeping on!!!
