The entire land Minicoy of Minicoy belongs to the people. The Minicoy South Pandaram land was a common property of the people with equal right. Out of this in 1958 on request of the Administrator 50 acre land given to govt for development activities. Again in 1972 another 60 acre given to Admn by the people. Thus now with govt total 110 acre land. All given by islanders. In 1978 entire which was in the possession of 9 Villages was divided as equal plots and alloted to entire natives of Minicoy. The Patta or title distribution inaugurated by Morarji Desai Hon. Prime Minister. Now 141000 sq. m land from northern side being taken by Govt for Airport.
